I've only had Dr. Delmore for two weeks and already he is one of my favorite teachers at Cal Poly. He presents the material so clearly and in such an interesting way that its easy to learn everything. I've learnt so much already and we've just started the quarter. He is an incredible teacher. I have yet to have a teacher that is so good at getting the message across. He is really funny and interesting. I would definately recommend him.

Delmore is a funny guy that can make a boring subject more interesting. He is really into his subject so don't expect to not have to work. He only has a couple homework assignments that are pretty easy. His tests are fill in the blank and essay. I usually test well but he can phrase things differntly so I had to study more than anticipated. GO TO CLASS. They're easy, pretty interesting, and he sometimes tells you what will be on the test. He also will give extra credit if attendence is low that day. Be Warned: He will point out when you're late. You get two midterms and a final. Don't underestimate the midterms but the final was an easy multiple choice. Be prepared to learn a lot on the inner workings of muscle fibers and USDA policies.

Delmore is a cool guy that everyone loves- he's a great teacher (organized PowerPoints, study guides, additional web resources, etc) but loves to throw in funny little "extras" from his Farmer John days or stories about hanging out with Dr. Beckett or his daughter Ainsley (who he calls "the baby" even though she's about 3 years old!). As far as the course goes, the lectures are well done and exams are totally fair. If there is any doubt over a question he'll throw it out. Labs are enjoyable, he always tries to get you out early but make sure to study for the pre-announced lab quizes because ID'ing cuts of meat can be difficult, especially without practice. With your choice of him or Wooten teaching 211 it's really a win-win situation, Delmore is a blast and you'll walk out of the class with valuable information.

dr. delmore is a nice guy and an entertaining lecturer..he's pretty cool to take as a teacher..the only fault i found is that i didn't feel like i learned as much as i'd like to. he has so much knowledge in meat science that he seems to go too fast with the teaching. i felt that most of the time he would just throw a slab of meat in front of me and say 'trim this' and i had no clue what i was doing. he's not a bad guy though and i wouldn't discourage taking him..

Why he rocks: he's hilarious, loud, easy going, and focused the only thing i found annoying about him was how he always talks shit on organic stuff. especially trader Joes. He calls it a pseudo hippy store. he also says that he cant stand his little girl... he "hates" her... kinda weird if you ask me

He is stuck up. Don't take this class from him if you can't take criticism or if you aren't a fan of cussing professors.

VVV Loosen up Delmore is great, always willing to help and his lectures aren't bad. If you think he cusses too much you're way too sheltered...it's time to leave mommy's house...

He Rocks!! He is by far my favorite teacher of all time. I was dreading this class thinking it was going to be horrible but he is able to make it interesting and fun. He knows not everyone is as interested in meat as he is and tries his best to make it fun for everyone by applying it to everyone in some way. He is straight forward and there are no tricks with his tests if you study you will do well which is how it should be. Go to lecture because he will tell you what is important. He has no problem helping students if you are confused and he always says before a test to ask him if you do not understand a question and he will ask it another way.

He comes off as gruff and abrasive, but he really knows his stuff and is willing to bend over backwards to help a student who swings by his office. His lectures are energetic and he does whatever it takes to keep people involved. His tests are fair and easy to study for, since he's really good at letting you know during lecture if something is important or not.

Meat Science is AWESOME! Delmore's the only one that teaches it. But he's a great teacher; very funny, very enthusiastic. The class is extremely interesting. I took it for a support course, and I couldn't have made a better decision. I had a gradstudent (Andrew) for lab, but I'm sure Delmore's fun in lab too!

This class was sooo much fun!! I learned a lot about meats and also about food storage. I would take this class again if I could. Dr. Delmore is funny and wants you to learn. Don't go into class looking for a fight, he wants to educate you on how things really are. The tests are exactly what he says they will be and are hard to fail. He is really a great teacher, take this class if you get the chance!

"Dr." Delmore is an extremely opinionated teacher. Unfortunately this class is required for ASCI and he is the only teacher. Whether or not he knows how to butcher and cut up an animal is really overshadowed by the fact that he teaches his own personal opinion as fact and doesn't accept any opposition. Other than that, the tests are fairly easy if you study the powerpoints. Overall I didn't learn anything worthwhile.

The classes isn\'t the most exciting but it is relatively easy. Its mostly just memorizing facts and basic concepts that are repeated over and over again. Delmore can seem slightly scary and mean but he is really not that bad. He makes fun of people and is very sarcastic but it makes the lectures more interesting. He is never seriously malicious.

i wasn\'t looking forward to this class (meat science) because i don\'t even eat meat!! it wasn\'t a bad class at all and it was actually pretty interesting at most times. the labs definitely stay true to cal poly\'s learn by doing philosophy. be prepared to see whole beef, lamb, and pork carcasses and then cut them up! the lecture portion of the class is not hard at all, just take notes and make sure you remember everything for the midterms and finals. most of the information in the class is repeated over and over again so its not that bad. you have lab quizzes about every week, so be prepared! they\'re usually at the end of lab and on what was just covered in lab, or the previous weeks labs. pay attention to what dr. bob says during lab because you can\'t take notes while he\'s talking about what\'s going to happen in lab. overall, this is not a hard class at all. just go to lecture (its only an hour!) and pay attention in lab and you\'ll be fine!!

Dr. Bob is awesome! Everybody that complains he is intimidating must be slacking or something. He would always wake me up in the mornings with his lectures. I thought I would dread the class and unfortunately become a vegetarian, but it turned out opposite. I loved the approach, truly meat SCIENCE. Don\'t get me wrong, Dr. Bob is hilarious at times, but don\'t screw around too much. His lectures were great and straightforward. Make sure you ask a lot of questions, he likes that, and really understand the material instead of just scribbling down the power point.

Tests are very important. They are the only grades in the class besides the lab grade. Just because the teacher is laid back, doesn\'t mean his tests are. Study hard.

I would highly recommend taking Meat Science, it’s an interesting and engaging course; but Dr. Delmore is the only professor that teaches the lecture section of this course. The material is a bit tricky and Dr. Delmore doesn’t present it in the most organized manner (I found that when I went to re-outline my notes I was constantly flipping back and forth between lectures). Most students would focus more on scribbling down what was on the powerpoint than listening to him and that aggravated him and he would usually comment on it... I would advice to listen to him and take notes on both b/c he helps clarify the material. Dr. Delmore is a bit intimidating, but he will let you argue for points on the midterms during his office hours. There are 2 midterms and 1 final, the midterms are short-answer and the final is multiple choice. Overall, I’d say if you went to class and paid attention you’d pass the class and enjoy learning the material.

The post before mine is dead-on, except I don\'t think I\'d recommend taking it unless you need to... Dr. Bob is a really funny guy and makes the class more interesting than you\'d think. That being said, his tests are short answer, and they are long and ridiculously detailed, study your ass off. There are pop-quizzes in lab, so always be on time and study the previous labs before you get there, they are harder than you think. I thought this class was going to be really easy... well, it wasn\'t.

Probably one of my favorite lecturers I've had in Animal Science and at Cal Poly. Though I do not eat meat, this has been one of my favorite courses at Cal Poly primarily because it positively influenced my perspective on the meat industry. Dr. Bob has an incredible sense of humor and is able to present the material clearly and in an interesting manner. His tests are also pretty straight forward and the labs are awesome. Overall, super fun and informative class.

Dr. Delmore really is one of the best professors at cal poly. He definitely has a unique way of teaching which I personally enjoy. He is very passionate about the subject and does an excellent job of teaching the material. The tests are straight forward and if you pay attention and take good notes, not too difficult. His lectures are interesting and you never have to worry about falling asleep in class. I highly recommend taking him as a professor.

This guy is fantastic. He's really funny, sarcastic, and makes meat science actually interesting. You might feel a little sketchy about this course since it involves harvesting animals, but honestly, I easily recommend this class. Also, it's a really easy grade since most of the information is common sense. Take this class :)

Ha ha ha... Dr. Bob... well, he is a good meat science teacher because he knows his stuff! But honestly, he is kinda scary. He likes when his students argue with him and have an opinion. Powerpoints are the same quarter to quarter (I got my friend\'s notebook from last quarter and that helped me get an A). This quarter was his 20th time teaching this class~ he almost bores himself lol...

Dr. Delmore is one of the best teachers i have had during my 4+ years at Cal Poly. His lectures are interesting, informative, relavant and he's hilarious. He requires class participation, which i usually hate, but i wanted to participate in his classes. His tests aren't too bad, because he presents information really well and you understand what he expects out of you, but you have to put in the time and study. Great teacher, lots of experience and its just funny to hear what'll come out of his mouth next. P.S. go to class. It's the only way to do well.

Dr. Delmore is one of the most outgoing and fun teachers at Cal Poly. Even though his class was at 8am it was still worth going to because the lectures were never boring and he involved the class in his discussions. He also knows that he has different majors in the class other than those just interested in meat science. He relates the material to food science, animal science, agricultural science and agricultural business. He also expects a lot from his students and will tell you when you didn't give 100% of your effort. As long as you attend lectures and pay attention in lab you will do fine in the class.

What else can I say about Delmore other than he is, by far, my favorite teacher that I have had in my career here at Cal Poly!!! He is very knowledgeable about the material he teaches. I love that he is so interested in meat science and all that it encompasses! It is like a breath of fresh air having a teacher that enjoys what he/she is teaching! Delmore makes me want to go class (in fact I have taken three classes with him, including a meat industry tour that was a blast!) I get a kick out of his joking remarks (even when they were at my own expense!)He makes students actually THINK and not just copy down notes. I would recommend for anyone to take him! Especially if you want to learn a lot about the meat industry and have a few good laughs while doing so! HE'S GREAT!

Dr. Bob is a great meat science professor. That being said, a lot of students go into his class expecting a professor that is going to hold their hand through this unknown subject. Do not expect any such thing from Dr. Bob. He is blunt, direct, and hilarious. If you pay attention to the things he says (more important that what is written on his powerpoints) and study well you will be fine. In this particular class, we spent the whole time talking about sausage and ~3 labs just trying different sausages. The lab final was to participate in SausageFest and the final was basically to write about things you had done several times in lab. Best technology class for ASCI majors. Get used to the phrase "By and large" and don't sweat it when he puts you on the spot and you say something stupid. He likes to tease his students, but it is not to make you feel bad. Also, no phone usage in his class.

Dr. Delmore is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He makes inappropriate jokes throughout class and he makes a scene if you are a minute late. If you are of the weak at heart.. he will make it worse! Not reccomended!

Dr. Delmore is a great teacher! He presents all of his lectures very clearly and his tests are easily understood. The student prior is a little to senstitive and needs to grow some. Dr. Delmore isn't one of those teachers that hold students hands...you know...like REAL LIFE. He truly pushes students to stive and is inspiring! oh yes, go to his office hour...he is helpful! Take this course for the certification, plus you don't mind the earliness of the class because he is teaching it!

Dr. Bob is a super awesome guy and a great teacher - that being said I HATED this class with a passion. Mostly because I didn\'t have a super big interest in the material and just wanted it to fulfill my upper level technology. Dr. Bob sort of expects you to know a little bit about the subject matter, which almost none of us did. He tries to help, but it ends up being more confusing than when you started. The one midterm was no difficult, and in our particular quarter we had presentations on our HACCP plan for the new Cal Poly meat plant just about every week. The presentations were not as helpful as I think he meant them to be - you really just saw how little you knew and everywhere you messed up in front of the whole class week after week. The entire class was group work - and no you don\'t get to pick your own groups or even which segment of the HACCP plan you work on. I got a B in this class - really expected an A or tried to get an A. It was a huge disappointment after all the time and effort I put in with the dang group work and meeting all the time and putting up with all the confusion. If you hate group work, hate having a lack of direction and need to be guided in your work, do not take this class. I have had Dr. Bob before in other classes and just loved him - his jokes are all that kept me focused and awake - and people say he is mean and picks on people - don\'t be a wuss - he is just cracking jokes. If you can\'t take a little joke you really shouldn\'t be an animal science major. Dr. Bob really tries to help if you go into office hours. Summary: Great Teacher, horrible class

Amazing teacher. Everyone who knocks him just doesn't understand his sense of humor. I have never had a teacher with more passion for the subject, which rubs off on the students.

This guy is such an ass. I know that in this class everybody is really opinionated about the issues but he has a way of making every student feel like an idiot just because he doesnt agree with them. He is also lazy and never graded the papers on time. It was hard to write the second and third paper when you don't even know how he graded the first. He really isn't that funny, it would be better if he stopped trying to be, and actually became a real teacher...oh wait that is impossible because he is inbred. I honestly can't understand why he would be teaching this class and grading written papers and debates when he himself probably can't even read. I hate the old teacher as well (rutherford) but at this point I regret not taking it with him because I could have gotten an A, and not had to deal with big, fat, stupid meat man.

During this entire quarter all I could think about was how this professor reminded me of that small little dog that runs through the back of scene 23 in The Incredibles by Pixar. Seriously, if you look it up you will only be able to see it...
