Dr. Conroy does a fairly good job of giving material to the class. When I was in his class, he marked me off several points on a couple of drawings for wrong lines and things like that, but I had to prove to him that they were indeed right. I have him now for lecture in IME 144. His lectures are pretty dry. He does try to put a little humor into them now and then. In my IME 144 class we had questions on our first midterm that were never covered in the lecture and that I couldn't find in the lab manual or text. He and Davis Eberhart (one of the lab instructors) are pretty good for lab teachers. They both know their stuff.

Professor Conroy is a very informed individual who will teach you what you need to know in the course, and if you do the reading you will know all there is to know about the course. Just remember that the diagrams in the reading are the key to understanding. And besides that Professor Conroy is a neat person, so talk to him some time.

A pretty laid back class, and a laid back teacher. Tests were not hard, except for some questions that were confusing to figure out what he was asking. Nothing really remarkable stands out in my mind about the class. The lab was much more interesting.

Conroy was the first professor that I had here my first year, and I was a little afraid of Cal Poly. After that day, I realized that this guy knows his stuff. He is a little boring in lecture, but when it comes to lab, it seems that he knows everthing about lathes, mills, and drill presses. The calss, highlighted by Conroy was a great experience. I had to work, and be interested in the class to get an A. The lecture final was lengthy, and the lab final more fun than work. I would definately recommend taking 144 with Conroy. He rocks.

It was an intro class so the homework was light, the grading is fair, but he's not anal about it. His tests were also fair. He's also a pretty cool guy if you take a little time to get to know him. He's willing to take a little extra time to help you with problems.

He is one of my best teacher in Cal Poly. He is very helpful during his office hours. He will explain you patiently untill you understand. Absolutely, Bob is an awesome teacher without any doubt. If you are doing homework and finish your Pro-E project, you will pass the class. Do not forget come to the class regularly taking the quiz.

Conroy is an all around cool guy. He has pop quizzes during lecture and if you aren't prepared, too bad. He goes on and on during lecture and it gets boring, but the labs are really fun. The machining part is easy, but the Pro/E part of the course (computer design) is not to fall back on. Don't wait too long to do the project! Everyone was in the lab the night before it was due and some people didn't finish. (Including me) Studying is a must, do not get behind.

Bob is very knowledgeable in every aspect of the course. He instructs clearly, he's always willing to help, and he's a nice guy. He tells you exactly what you will be tested on and all the material is very straight forward. Be prepared for a pop quiz now and then and be sure to start your Pro-E work early. You can probably share both a drafting textbook and Pro-E tutorial with a friend.

Professor Conroy is a good teacher except when It comes to grading. He is the harshest grader I have ever had. On the midterm I missed one line on a drawing so I recieved a 0/20 for that part of the test and dropped my grade on the test from a B+ to a D-. He is also very harsh on the Pro/E grading, and it is only out of 15 points, so if you make a mistake it kills your grade. I practically taught the manufacturing assignments to a portion of my lab group and I revieved a B- in the class.

Bob's a cool guy. His labs were actually fun and he was real helpful and understanding of students. His lecture class was pretty dry but its only an hour that you have to get through. the labs are always really early in the morning and there is no way that you can miss them, but I didnt really have a problem with it. He kind of over explains things sometimes, but its not annoying or anything. Definately a great teacher, look forward to him, I know I would if I had anymore classes with him.

Prof. Conroy is the best...I mean the BEST professor you could get and he definitely is wise in his teaching ability and abilty to notice students who are having difficulties...He also knows his stuff and makes the class very interesting...the class is very straight forward. You are just going to have to see for yourself how awesome of a person he really is.

be sure to stay up and on top of the work because by the end if you are just a little behind you will be sorry. This class was the first really hands on class (lab) because we were actually working a lathe and later in the quarter worked with different "cool" tools. Everything is learned from the standpoint that it is up to you how you want to do. The pro engineering part of the course is a really cool program but the assignments start to pile up considering there is one assignment a week for it and you should most definitely stay the full three hours for the lab even if he lets you out when you are "done". Do something to make the future a little bit easier. The homeworks are very easy and the whole class is just learning about drafting, machine tecniques, and a 3D modeling program pro e. He is probably the only one teaching it but don't wory it is a fun and demanding class. A lot of time is put into this class

Wow, Bob has to be by far one of the best teachers I have had here at Cal Poly. They come any nicer than him and he really tries to make the material fun. The lecture is a little dry but he does his best to make it come alive. But the lab, thats where its at!! That class was soooo much fun, we made a screw thread and an air motor which was so awesome. A word of advice, unless you have had tons of CAD experience with a few other programs so you know the lingo and can jump from program to program with relative ease, DO NOT FALL BEHIND WITH PRO/E!! It will come back to haunt you!!! Stay on top of that and you will have a great time.

The class itself is pretty easy, but conroy makes it even better. Few quizzes and midterm are cake. Will give you concrete answers to questions. Excellent prof for this intro class. Lecture is way more boring than the lab, but you should still go. Also you can call him Bob if you want

This class is awesome and Bob makes it all the better. Material is easy, homework was minimal, rare quizes were cake. Midterm was slightly harder but manageable nonetheless. Expect to put in a good amount of time for the air motor project and don't wait until the last few days to start because the CAD lab gets crowded and you may have to wait a bit to get a computer. This stuff is so straightforward the only book you'll really need is the lab manual. Lecture was boring but go because you never know when he'll give a quiz; lab was tons of fun and more than makes up for it.

Conroy is an excellent professor. He explained things very thoroughly. Go to his lecture and you don't really have to open the texts. Quizzes were cake. Effort is necessary and do not fall behind or it will be hell. Take notes during the pro/e demos and you will totally understand the book.

bob was extremely knowledgeable with machining & pro/e and conveyed his knowledge to the students in a clear, organized, understandable manner. in addition, he would take the time to answer any questions and assist you with any difficulties you were having during his office hours. he always had a positive attitude and was enjoyable to have as an instructor. the pro/e portion of the class was great and i feel very compitent with the software. the machining portion of the class was also great. i feel not only compitent, but also confident using the many machines in the lab. i feel this has been one of the most beneficial classes i have taken here at poly. if you are an me and need to take ime 143, i would instead recomend to take ime 144 instead. it is the exact same class, but with the pro/e portion included. it is well worth the extra 2 units.

Bobbie Conroy.. very repetitive. If I wasn't talking to everyone sitting around me, it was because I was asleep. I did learn a lot and it is NOT easy at all to get an A in this class.. as a matter of fact, I don't know anyone that got an A. Mostly B's and C's. The only reason I liked the class was because I was with cool people, we helped each other a lot on homework and projects because we were so sick of listening to this guy talk that we shut him out. I don't understand how he got such good ratings. I guess he's a good teacher but he was so boring and annoying.. and I think he hated our class because he was not a nice guy either. I would runaway from him like the plague!!

pretty simple class. i came into the class not knowing the difference between a nut and a bolt and came out with a B+. class consists of a midterm, final, the pro-e project, several homework assignments and lab work. homework is never hard, its usually a draftimg assignment and you have plenty of time to do it. the pro-e project can be somewhat time consuming, but as long as you start on it early its not too bad. as for the teacher, prof. conroy is a nice guy and is very approachable when you have questions about anything. not the most exciting lecturer (you will find yourself falling asleep more than once) but a fairly easy class and you will come out of it with a variety of skills - drafting, machining and pro-e. bottom line - take conroy.

Conroy was really boring during lecture and i was fighting to stay awake almost every class. Most people i know got C's and D's on his midterm but then the final seemed like a piece of cake. He explains things too in depth sometimes and you can kinda just get lost. The pro/e project took a ridiculous amount of time and you should definitely stay on top of it or else it'll over run your last few weeks in the quarter. I didn't really like the class but i guess he made it bearable. Nice guy overall and very approachable.

Conroy is a great professor. His lectures are very clear. They can be boring, but that is more the subject than the lecturer. He is very understandable when it comes to problems and very helpful and easily approachable when asked questions. Definately one of the better professors at Cal Poly

Conroy was extremely boring in his lectures. The class itself is actually pretty informative and even fun. In the lab is were I learned the most the lecture was only helpful every once in while. For those incoming freshman thinking of taking this class without the highschool drafting requirement go for it. I did and if you are willing to put in the time to study and pick up the drafting on your own during the class you will do fine.

I don't suggest taking the same professor for the IME 144 lab and lecture, otherwise things get boring. Also, pay attention to details, they count! Conroy tends to grade the Pro-e (computer drafting) a little harder than other professors, so work a little bit harder. My biggest advice is to pay attention to details and show up to class all the time. Conroy has regular office hours and is somewhat helpful if you go in and talk to him. The best thing to do with homework is to do it in groups so that someone catches silly errors.

Good Prpffesor for IME and I am glad I had him for lecture. I could of gotten a hogher grade in the class but I always did some real dumb mistakes. Just double check ur work because if u are off by .001 then ur answer is wrong. This is afun class and pro_e is easy to use. Note: The free trial of pro_e expires so whenever u want to use it just change the days date on ur pc to when ur license is not expired and it will work. Anyways, doind the airmotors is awesome and this is one of the funnest classes that u can have in Cal Poly.

Dr. Conroy (or Grandpa Bob as I liked to call him) is a wonderful teacher. He's probably one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and if you can get him for this lab before he retires you're lucky. Take Grandpa Bob and you'll have a great time in this class.

During this entire quarter all I could think about was how this professor reminded me of that small little dog that runs through the back of scene 23 in The Incredibles by Pixar. Seriously, if you look it up you will only be able to see it...
