This is a lame site. The comments are statistically insignificant. Most comments lack basic grammar and spelling skills.

Mr. Burke is brand new to Cal Poly and is a really great teacher(I am not just saying this because I received a good grade; it really is true). Now, don't think that this class is just an easy "A". It isn't insanely easy, but, at the same time, it isn't incredibly hard like some of the other classes I had this quarter. Mr. Burke has an exercise for the class to participate in almost every class period and this promotes active learning and it makes the lecture a lot more interesting and enjoyable. There is one midterm, one final, one group presentation, one speech, about 20 journal entries, and a participation grade(basically attendance) that add up to a total of 600 points for the quarter. If you are going to have to take speech anyway, might as well take it with a good professor; I suggest Bob Burke.

The first day of class he says he doesnt want to go into long winded lectures all the time because he knows it bores the class. He wants to get the class involved in the material. The first two lectures were good becacause we actually did something besides sit back and listen to him drone on and on about communication. Some parts of his material was very weird... He does not shutup about self concept or your extemporaniousness. His tests were also kind of sketchy...the book he uses concentrates on abilities of certain cultures and their tendencies. God help you if you are asian though...He will pick you out every time and call you japanese, chinese, or korean...whatever he wants and just start blabbing about how asians are a high context culture. He will expect you to know everything about asian culture so be prepared. There is a benefit to this class though. Even though it was a speech class, we only had to give one speech, a 5 - 7 minute long blab about anything you like.

Prof. Burke was great and i really enjoyed his class, i just wish all my classes here at poly were like his. the journals are a bit of a hassle, but as long as you stay on them, you should have no problem. all of his exams are extremely fair, and the class only entailed one speech (which might i say was actually a bit fun!!). Anyways, this is a great professor and if you are going to take a class, take him. Make sure you dont make a habit of not going, i should have gotten an A but because I got a little lazy...I got a B, watch out and have fun!

Mr. Burke was an awesome teacher. There was a lot of reading and his tests came from the book, but they weren't too bad. He was an awesome teacher, it sucks that no one else will get to have him as a teacher.
