Only take Mr. Cohen if your prepared to work really hard. The essays must be PERFECT or else you will not get a good grade. The course he taught was all about the Lewinsky Clinton affair. I seemed to learn more about law than about english. Please attempt to take another professor, unless you enjoy loads of work, learning about law, and enjoy being yelled at often

This teacher will make you work your tail off. Be prepared for an enormous work load. We only wrote about the Clinton-Lewinsky affair, and there was not as much focus on improving writing as you'd expect from an english class. He's a new teacher, so I expect him to improve over time. But you seriously will write an extraordinarily insane amount in this class.

Cohen is a joke. He apparently teaches only one class per quarter and thus feels that he is compelled to give as much work as humanly possible, as if the students only had one class: his. You will work nonstop. The whole Clinton-Lewinsky focus of the class was fascinating for two reasons: One, your mind begins to transcend reality in a substance-induced stupor once you realize you are writing expository essays on blowjobs, and two, it was fascinating how quickly everyone learned to not give a shit about the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal ever, ever again. Believe me - it makes you realize how pathetic the issue is and was. Compounding the problem is that Cohen thinks he's really profound and "thinks out of the box" when in reality he's just rehashing any tired old cliched thought he thinks matters. If you end up taking his class and think he's awesome... then I must apologize to you because your IQ cannot be more than that of a nematode. And if you don't know what a nematode is, then you probably deserve to take his class.

Cohen didn't understand that this was just a GE for everyone in his class. I ended up getting more work assinged in his class than in my chem 124 class. Also, he tried to take what was supposed to be a writing class and changed it into a class that should be a major course for my roommate (political science major). If you end up taking his class, don't expect to ever impress him with any work you do becuase he seemed to always be disgusted with how much effort, or lack there of, we would put into our projects and our essays as a class. Half the time in his lectures he had no idea where he was going with his ideas or what he was even supposed to be teaching us on that day. I ended up with a C becuase by the third week it was chose chem or enlgish, and i sure as hell wasn't going to read 20 pages a night about the Clinton-Lewinsky trial any more. If he is your only choice for a 134 class then take it next quarter or else you will be miserable.

Do not take this guy. All he talked about was Monica Lewinsky and Bill CLinton. Although i learned some stuff, i was overloaded with work, and it was all about Monica and Bill. EVERYTHING. Essays, readings, everything had to do with them.. It was lame. I had more work in this class than both my other classes put together. And none of it was fun. It was supposed to be a GE, not a major required course.

Cohen wasn't a bad teacher - the rating on this guy are somewhat innaccurate. First off - he's a new teacher, so you have to get used to his teaching style, he gets off topic really quickly and changes around his cirriculum. He doesn't ask for a whole lot. I took 18 units and he made it seem like he wanted this class to be first priority, which i didn't make it, and i still came out with a B+. Take this guy - he does 2 in class essays which are pretty easy if you write the way he wants you to. The out of class essays, however, are never perfect to him. No matter what, they will have some type of flaw, so you have to make them perfect. I half assed them and i got a B+. The idea that he has - where he makes you write a research paper on Clinton's impeachment is a good idea - because MOST OF THESE LOSER STUDENTS have no idea what actually happened... and he makes you find out. For them to say that he is an idiot for making you write about that, i really discredit them. Politics come up in everyday life, so for him to make you write about it, is a pretty good teaching skill. Lastly, i'd say, is to succeed in his class, follow his styles, and write like it... make it look like your trying real hard and you'll pass easily.
