Mark can sometimes be pretty critical of your work, but he only does it so you can try and improve. He might seem like a jackass sometimes (and he openly admitted that to the class on multiple occasions), but it's only because he's honest about your work. He really knows his stuff and when he gives advice it's almost always helpful. If he refuses to give you advice it's only because he wants you to make decisions for yourself. Alot of the projects are loosely defined so you can develop your own style and direction. If you have the chance to take him I'd recommend it.

Mark is a very friendly, approachable guy who is very interested in getting to know and helping all his students in any way he possibly can. He is pretty laid back, and although many of his assigned projects are somewhat unclear, he is very easy to talk to and the projects are unclear to enhance your creativity!Take him and enjoy!

o.k....mark has to be one of my favorite professors of all time. his class was intersting and fun. i loved his personality and his teaching style. this man was an ex-student and was full of money saving tips that he himself had learned for how to consturct cost efficient contour models, etc... his class was very cohesive in style and content which made the quarter smooth sailing. my one and only complaint is that he flat out told me that i should have gotten an A in the class, but that despite the fact that he watched make and remake and remake again my final model, the craft was still too low and i could not receive an A until my craft improved. he definitely doesn't care how much time you spend on a project. if it doesn't come up to his par then you are shit out of luck. despite that i would definitely recommend that people take him. i enjoyed every second of his class my final grade doesn't effect my overall view of him. i should say that boys beware. if you are argumentative when presenting a project, which apparently it is more likely that a guy will be, he will tear you apart during crits. just be forewarned.

Overall Mark is a very nice guy. I learned a lot and was able to learn new programs, but if you are not one of his favorites, it is pretty hard to approach him. He closes himself off if you aren't chummy with him. He gives OK advice, but other teachers are better at this. Good experience, I'd take him again :)

Mark is a good professor in that he is willing to really let you question everything and anything. He focuses heavily in education. He loves his puzzles! However, he does have favorites so if youre not one of them, youre basically fucked.

During this entire quarter all I could think about was how this professor reminded me of that small little dog that runs through the back of scene 23 in The Incredibles by Pixar. Seriously, if you look it up you will only be able to see it...
