Elliott truly has passion for the material. His lectures are very interesting and influential in daily life. He is a great teacher I highly recommend him. There is a substantial amount of reading, but all very interesting. I didn't do to well on the tests, but he is very helpful if you see him after class. I give him an A+.

Prof Elliott is a really nice guy and his class was extremely manageable. There are no surprises, he tests on what he teaches. The nice thing is that he always lets class out early. In my 2-hour class the longest he ever lectured for was maybe an hour and 15 minutes. He drops some of your low grades and gives lots of easy assignments to help supplement if you do bad on the midterms. Elliott is a truly good teacher!

This guy has a knack for making things very simple. Also the text that he uses is very clear and easy to read. There is a lot of work in this class via quizzes and hw assignments but they are not very difficult and they will help make the midterms seem a lot easier. This two hour class usually takes between an hour and an hour and a half at the most. I have found that I enjoy this teacher much more than my colleagues do their respective econ teachers. TRY AND GET THIS GUY.

Professor Elliot is an amazing Econ teacher. He's very cut and dry, tells you what you need to know, and then dismisses class early (on average, 30-45 minutes early). If you do your reading, you'll be fine. He offers a lot of quizzes and assignments that bring up your grade easily. His class is really laid back and he's very approachable. TAKE ECON WITH HIM!

Daaaaamn, this professor was chill. He'd let you out 30-45 mins early EVERY time. This is probably one of the easiet classes you'll have at Cal Poly. If you read the material, grasp the concept, you'll do well. You have about 10 quizzes overall which aren't bad at all. They help you prepare for the midterms which are just like the quizes, but longer. He DOES NOT try to trick you. If you buy the solutions manual, take the practice chapter quizzes on there. Also, take the practice tests online. The questions are almost word for word. He's the best teacher I've had here so far at Cal Poly. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone.

Great professor. Boring class. Grading is based on 2 midterms, a final, and weekly quizzes. The best thing about this professor is that he GENUINELY cares about his students. He realizes that we don't want to sit through a two-hour lecture so he lets his class go early everyday. The only thing I didn't enjoy about the class was the pointless group work. Other than that, this is a really caring and sincere professor who is simply trying to educate. Also, I'm really going to miss his "I hope the rest of your evening is a safe and pleasurable one" comment!!

great teacher! makes the material easy to understand in as little time necessary. he gives you grading summaries after each midterm to let you know how youre doing. he drops the lowest quiz/assignment. take this class if you want a good teacher, good grade, or a short time in the class room.

This guy was a great teacher! Quiz once a week that prepared you well for the midterms and 2 midterms plus a final. Just make sure you are prepared for the midterms because each one is woth 30% and if you mess up on them you are dead in the water. No surprises on any of the quizzes/midterms/final - he tested on exactly what he lectured on/assigned for reading. If you actually do the reading and understand all of the concepts well you will do great. Another great thing is that he lets you know your grade after each midterm with a sheet containing a detailed analysis of your overall grade. If you need to take an econ class TAKE ELLIOTT!

dr. elliott is AWESOME. no lie. he is genuinely interested in the course material, as well as in his students. he has a subtle sense of humor, always lets you out early (the latest we ever stayed was until 7:20ish), and is really passionate about his job. on the first day of class, he had us all introduce ourselves (all 60 some odd of us). elliott is extremely personable and is a really nice guy. he presents the material pretty clearly (with lots of diagrams) and the textbook he uses is really good. it presents the material clearly and with modern, easy-to-understand examples. dr elliott ROCKS! he gives weekly quizzes, which REALLY help you for the exams (all mult choice), but the crappy part is that he grades on a percentage scale, not by point. but seriously, if you like econ or if you hate it, DR ELLIOTT is THE MAN!

Elliott definitely knows his economics. His lectures give you an overall concept that is sometimes detailed and sometimes less detailed. The reading that he assigns in the book and sometimes from articles will fill in the gap of his lectures. There are quizzes given that are medium level. I mean, there are conceptual questions, but there are also vocabulary questions, which are greate =). He tells what chapters are going to be on the quizzes and the midterms as well as the final. Just a note, when I took his class, the final was basically an extended midterm, it wasn't cumulative. Now, on to the midterms. They are also medium level. Just make sure you are clear on the concepts and you'll do fine. Speaking of clarity, Elliott will answer your questions whenever you have any. He really is a great guy. I recall taking the final and wanting to finish it so that I can shake his hand and say goodbye. He's a great dude. I would recommend him for econ. I almost forgot, sometimes there is homework, but it's not a big thing to worry about. I mean, the assignments do take time, but they're not bad.

Professor Elliott is a really great teacher. His lectures are never really dull, and he finds a way to present the subject clearly and interestingly. The first day I went to class, I honestly thought the class would be a joke just based off of the introduction, but you actually learn a lot in this class, and Prof. Elliott really knows his stuff. I took the two hour night class (6-8 PM), and we never got out later than 7:15 except on test days. The tests are simple if you READ THE CHAPTERS <-- the only advice I have for you. The questions on the tests are almost exactly phrased from the book, and it's really important that you do this. If you want a good, knowledgeable economics teacher with a bright and witty personality, this is the professor to take.

Not s very good teacher. His class is very hard unless u do all the reading and homework. If u try really hard u might pull off a B, but he is a difficult teacher to understand becasue he thinks very abstractly and this makes the tests fairly difficult.

He's a pretty cool teacher and his class is not that hard, if you just pay attention and go to every class. I learned a lot from him, but I enjoyed Lindahl more because I had her in Econ 221. Either way they are both ok. Just I would rather have Lindahl for 222 b/c she was so cool in 221.

What a boring instructor. It is sooo hard to stay awake in his classes and its almost impossible to get a good grade in his class. I studied like crazy and went to every class, but his tests are so confusing, like they are on a different chapter than what he said the test was going to be on. I highly recommended avoiding this guy.

Professor Elliot is completely overrated...this was my first grade which was not an A in college, and all for macroecon! I studied my ass off for tests, which were difficult to say the least. Find another professor!

This professor was a joke! He cannot teach at all. I feel like after going through his class that I am dumber than ever before. He does not make sense. Avoid this guy, otherwise cheat all you can to get a good grade because studying will not help unless you have no life and want to study forever like he recommends. Stay away from Herb the Moron.

Professor Elliot is really good. He spends lectures trying to clarify concepts from the reading. His tests are straight foward but you won't do well unless you do the reading. He let us out at least 45 minutes early every day and he was sick a few times and cancelled class. Homework isn't bad at all. There are a few group projects and a lot of quizes, but those helped my grade a lot. Basicly he's a really good professor and I would definitely recomend taking his class.

Elliott is a wonderful professor. He gives great examples in his lectures to clarify the reading. He gives a few easy group projects. The tests are pretty easy. I did not have to study much at all. He is a great teacher! Take him if you can.

I took econ with Elliott because he had such high poly ratings. However, I was sorely disappointed by this class. His thick accent makes it difficult to understand him, and he does not truly know econonmics; rather, he has memorized definitions and graphs. I completed all the homework, studied for the quizzes, midterms, and final, but will have to retake this class next fall. If you want to grasp econ, I would advise taking this class with another professor.

if you already have a basic understanding of economics, TAKE THIS CLASS! i didnt take any notes and just skimmed the chapters before each quiz/test, and it was an easy A. elliot also makes lecture somewhat amusing, so its not unbearable to sit through. my biggest tip is to read the chapters assigned because that is where most of the information comes from, and he usually gives a very light reading load anyway so its not a difficult thing to ask of.

Missed the first day, went to the second day. Went to the midterm. Went to the Final. Three days of class total. I got a B, easy. This kind of shit gives our school a bad name.
