Amspacher is really a really nice guy, but an awful professor. Honestly one of the worst classes i have ever taken. He doesn't put any effort into the class and Im not sure why he is teaching a WVIT class to begin with. He is funny and sweet, but I have not learned one thing in this class that is useful toward my career or my degree.

Amspacher is the worst teacher. He is an arrogant asshole who cares nothing about the students actually learning. He only cares about talking about himself and wine. The book and his lectures do not match at all. He creates his own terms and uses both at random times to confuse the students. Also, do not read the newspaper in class because he gets grumpy and will probably throw it across the room. The same goes for doing the sudoku puzzle.

Dr. Amspacher is a wonderful professor. He takes his time to make sure students understand material rather than rushing through topics just to get through a book. He challenges you in a good way and is very personable and always wants to help anyone in need. Take him for any class!!!

Amspacher was a nice enough teacher in class, but I found his lectures hard to follow. Otherwise, I must've written the guy five e-mails and tried to call his office because I couldn't make it to his scheduled office hours and the guy wouldn't return e-mails or phone calls, leading me to believe the guy could care less if you're struggling in his class or not. He gave practice midterms for the first two midterms but when I asked if he was giving practice problems for the final he looked at me like I was a complete moron, and then proceeded to tell me that nobody he knows gives practice anythings for the final. Although every other teacher I've ever had here at Poly gives at least a study guide. The guy is pretty no no nonsense but to the point where its rude and harsh, rather than encouraging. Overall, if you struggle with Econ and Math and can take someone else for 213, I highly recommend that you do because Amspacher is only interested in teaching people that are math and econ geniuses.

Amspacher says that he will not take shotgun answers for his test, but this is the way he teaches the class. You have to through your notes then pick through the junk to figure out how to do it. This is a class that you cannot miss. His tests take the whole class period and cover everything that he talks about in class.

When I came into this class I was scared spitless! I had a extremely difficult time with 212 and everything I heard about this class made it seem even more difficult. It is a difficult class, but I knew this going into it. But it isn't, as long as you do the assignments and really try and study for the class it's is very straight forward. It is a very mathematical class if you memorize the formulas and know how to apply them you will do get with Amspatcher. He gives weekly homeworks, a few anounced quizzes, and a few tests. The good part is that he gives you practice tests. He is also a fair grader, if you get the wrong answer but your steps and work is correct you only lose a point for the wrong answer. I could go on and on about this teacher, because I have never walked away from a class like this and have actually understood what I learned and have been comfortable with taking the final. To sum it all up, if you have to take 313, take Amspatcher.

Take amspach! He is an overall really nice guy. This class has a bad reputation, but the way he teaches it made sense. He didnt assign much homework, the test were exactally like the homeworks and in class problems. He makes this horrible class fun, and easy. If you did well enough on the first 2 exams you didnt have the take the final.

Now I'm not the smartest man, but Amspacher was a pretty good teacher. The material in this class sucks ass regardless of who you take so you might as well take it will Bill. I had friends who took his class in years past and I studied their old tests. This class was not bad at all and he even gives you his old tests to study. If you kick ass on his 3 midterms you don't have to take a cumulative final. Honestly this isn't that hard. Although there were definitely kids in my class who had taken it 2-3 times prior. I've heard this is the hardest class in agb but I find that hard to believe.

BILL! Bill is an EXTREMELY difficult teacher. When you are in his class you probably will hate him because he pushes you to your limits. Nevertheless, he presents his material well and is always open for questions.BEWARE OF FINAL!!!!!

Dr. Amspacher is a good teacher. He does an excellent job explaining the concepts and clearing up any questions students have. I expected the class to be a lot harder than it was; many people warned me that Agb 421 with Amspacher was very difficult. I thought that it was a piece of cake. Many other students had trouble completing the exams but if you know the material they are pretty easy. You don't really have time to try to remember things, you need to know everything going into the exam. I thought the class was easy but I also liked calculus, statistics, and econ.

Good guy and a good teacher. His accent makes him fun to listen to and the content is something unique and worth studying. He knows his stuff and attendance is a must. Almost all the assignments he gives you can be completed in class. You spend a lot of time mastering the concepts, so the pace of class can be percieved as slow, but it gives you time to learn it well.

Interesting and knowledgeable professor, also super fun to listen to per his twangy accent. Not too organized (we didnt know our grades til week 9) and will give last minute assignments. Class only consisted of easy homeworks, 3 group projects, and one final. Highly recommended.

I'm making this review in the middle of the quarter, this man should really not be teaching WVIT 423, he has ZERO qualifications for this class, no legal experience and is relying on outside speakers to teach us about wine law. He has openly said this to the class. DO NOT take WVIT 423 with Amspacher, any other teacher, hopefully will have actual qualifications to teach a class called "Wine Law and Compliance". Good luck. He's a cool guy and everything but he doesn't really understand how to use Polylearn, and still refers to it as blackboard and WILL NOT reply to almost any email you send him. Seriously good luck not falling asleep in the failure of a class.

Alrighty here's the low down: he sucks. First off, he actually doesn't have any clue what he's talking about. "Learn By Doing" should be to apply the topics you learned in class to real life applications. Nope. For him, it's finding what laws are for what topics without him knowing anything for it. Secondly, he has not lectured once in this class. "How can that be?" you ask. He brings in guest speakers. Every. Single. Time. Third, he grades for completion and attendance. Not really complaining about that, but when we have to show up to class and do absolutely nothing while he tries to be funny and and outside of class put an insane amount of hours into a project and then he says "oh at first I was grading for completion and then I was going to go back and read it for accuracy, but i just didn't have time" is really frustrating. Have not learned one useful thing in WVIT 423. You can tell he does not want to be there and that he is 100% not qualified to teach this class.

I got an A in this class and was still enraged by the end of it. Amspacher joked openly about not having prepared a curriculum for the class. His lesson plans depended entirely on guest speakers, who were dry and often relayed the same information. There were no tests, quizzes or challenges of any kind. If you're looking for an easy A, he's your man, grading entirely based on attendance. If you actually want to learn something, avoid taking classes from him at all costs. The class I took was Wine Law and Compliance, a required course for my major, and one that I was looking forward to. He truly did the students in my class a disservice. I felt cheated out of the information I had paid time and money for. All in all, his class was one of the most frustrating experiences I have had at college.

This is actually a lecture/lab mixed, but a lot of math and logical thinking. He seemed like a strict jerk at the beginning of the quarter, but after a couple weeks the class wore him down to who he really was. He can be a cool guy, loves to joke, but gets down to business when it's needed. You have to cram for his tests and practice the principles he taught. If you practice everything thoroughly about twice before the test and then skim your work to be sure you understand it, you should be okay. Definitely not an easy course, but I enjoyed it and he will help you out whenever you need him.

Dr. Amspacher is an excellent teacher with a positive and easy to understand teaching style. He is challenging for students but if you are willing to learn he is willing to spend any time needed in class or during office hours to clarify and explain. His teaching style is very similiar to Bob Thompson's. He is funny and energetic but expects you to work hard. You will learn in Bill's class as well as have a fun time.

Bill is an excellent teacher with a style that is extremely similiar to Bob Thompson. Even in difficult classes, Bill has a way of explaining material with real world examples and personal insight. He, however, expects hard work from his students, and while he loves to joke, he will always get down to business. Bottom line, do not take Dr. Amspacher if you do not want to learn or actually work for your grade. If you are the typical lazt student, stay away. However, if you are truly interested in the subject and want to LEARN the fundamentals and background of the topic then there is not a better instructor at Cal Poly. He is a superb faculty member that is truly concerned with helping his students understand the material.

I took this class b/c it's req'd for the Wine & Vit minor, but it sucks ass. I think Amspacher has to be one of the most condescending assholes in the entire school. Don't bother asking for help, especially if it's related to statistics or excel (his favorite fucking program) b/c you should actually remember the point of regressions and how to do them in excel. Beware...he "won't teach you how to do this!" He yells at the entire class when NO ONE understands his babbling nonsense! This man thinks he knows EVERYTHING about the wine industry (even though he doesn't) and NEVER thinks that he's wrong. I don't think I've ever had a teacher with such a horrible hair cut either.

Amspacher was...an...interesting teacher. Your best bet to a good grade in this class is doing well on the Labs. Don't ignore them, and make sure you understand what is going on when you are finished with them. The quizzes on Fridays are torture. I thought I did really well on the first one but ended up with a 15/25. So did most other people in the class. Some of the quizzes were on things he didn't really teach yet. I think he's the only teacher for this class so all I can recommend is that you go to his office hours and talk about the material on the quizzes before you take them.

Amspacher is an excellent instructor. I have taken several Stats classes in the past including Stats at Calpoly and he is hands down the best. I would recommend him highly.

I took it over the summer and I had some trouble with him at the beginning cuz he basically said I was going to fail since i'd missed a week (of an 8 week course). Other than that, he was pretty cool and was willing to help you out if you needed it. Sometimes he doesn't explain stuff very well, but the tests were overall easy (the first one was the most complicated since i missed half of what he'd taught on the subject), and the hmwk assignments werent very difficult. I only got a B+ b/c of the first test. I'd take him again.

Amspacher is cool and a nice guy, he tries to have a hard shelled exterior and pretend like he is a mean guy but he's not. He will always clarify or answer questions and will definitely take time out to help you if need be. He doesn't assign a lot of homework but what he does assign is relevant! If you do the homework and pay attention his tests are pretty cake. He is straight forward and so is the class.
