1. He has a shaky grasp on English - written and spoken. Very very hard to understand. Someone get this guy to his homeland! 2. He doesn't know what he is talking about in class. This is obvious because he consistently and constantly makes mistakes writing on the board and talking. 3. He doesn't recognize when the entire class has no idea what he's talking about. 4. He doesn't coherently answer questions. AVOID MOSTAFA CHINICIAN AT ALL COSTS

Like everyone has already been saying, his accent is very hard to get used to. He makes mistakes that he shouldn't be making and it's worse when the students are the ones to point them out because he's supposed to be teaching us not the other way around! His tests are fair but his final will hit you. If you can, avoid this guy, he's not much of a teacher...

His English is not good, but he makes up for it by continually giving examples. He's not a very hard professor. His lectures are pretty easy to follow, and if you don't understand it the first time, don't worry, he's got plenty of examples that he'll do. He takes his time on the materials. I recommend this instructor.

This man probably has the poorest communication skills I've seen on any two-legged mammal. When he talks, you're lucking to make out maybe 3 words in a sentence, and the strange markings he made on the board the first day and later identified as "sin" should have clued me in. The homework he assigned was relatively easy, but on the test he would throw in something that was barely covered in lecture or homework and totally screw you over if you didn't know everything about that one topic. I recommend avoiding this man like the plague.

Well, I would have to say that this class/prof. was quite possibly the WORST I have taken at cal poly. I was considering going into CPE or EE but no longer after this. That class was more tourcher than having my toe nails plucked off one at a time. I could understand probably about 1 out of every 10 words that came out of this guys mouth. And that is not exagerated. His writing is nearly as bad. If you take this class, honestly be prepared to learn from the book. His tests, if you want to call them that, where ussually between 3-5 questions long, so you had to know exactly what he asked on the tests or else you were screwed. He did give alot of partial credit on tests, his one redeming quality, but overall I would have to say you are insane if you take this guy, unless of course you want a class in actually interpreting foriegn accents and also learning EE at the same time.

He's pretty tough to understand, especially at first. I don't know how long he's been in this country, but he still can't make a V sound, and his "Q"s look like "9"s. Other than that, he's a good professor. Short, easy homework turned in once weekly. Short easy quiz taken once weekly. The midterms and final are short, too, but that means you can't screw up very much on any of the problems.

Professor Chinichian is a good guy to take for the circuit analysis series. I took him, and feel I learned a lot about analyzing circuits. He's pretty laid back and a nice guy; he's also very helpful and eager to help you during his office hours. His tests are pretty straight-forward (he allows you lots of cheat sheet space, too), and if you've done and understand the homework, then you'll do fine on the tests. If he were to teach the class just off his own lectures, I'm not too sure I would've come out of the class understanding a whole lot. But the textbook is very well-written with good examples. His lectures seem to compliment the text. So make sure you immerse yourself in the text, do the problems, pay attention in lecture, and you'll do fine.

He is a good guy. He lets you use calculators on midterms and bring a cheat sheet. The midterm he gives four problems and you choose three of them. Homework was graded which kinda sucked, and there was a quiz every week. Overall I think he is one of the better EE teachers. Would take him again.

So this guys rating doesn't reflect what sort of teacher he is. He's probably the nicest teacher I've had yet and his office hours are extremely helpful. He sits down with you and works out the problem in front of you. Sure, he has a strong accent("woltage" and "ohm style"), but you get over it and you realize how good of a teacher he really is. Take him, because he really cares about you and makes sure you understand what he went over in lecture every time you have a question.

Yeah he talks really quiet, so just get there early and try to sit in the front. He does a ton of examples, and the tests are super short (the midterms and final were all just 3 questions) and similar to what he does in class, so just study his examples. The homework is usually only a few problems a week, so it never takes much time.

Prof. Chinichian is not a bad professor, he is just hard to understand. His accent takes a little while to get around. He also messes up on his examples in class a lot so you have to stay on your toes and correct him. His grading scale is fair, composed of 8 quizzes (lowest score excluded), 2 midterms, and the final. He does throw in a tricky question on his tests so makes sure you study everything mentioned in class. Take Perks for EE 201.

He mumbles A LOT. Basically I didn't even bother listening to his lectures at all. I taught myself everything from the book. If you go to the lecture, just write down what you need to study from the book. I prefer to learn from the book anyway, so this was good for me. If you need proper instruction from a teacher, be prepared to decipher his mumbling. He knows his stuff and his tests and quizes are easy if you do the homework. One good tip is to pay attention to the example problems his does before the tests, they do help prepare you before he hands out the tests.

Although this guy has a heavy accent and isn't the best teacher, he is a nice and friendly guy. His quizzes, midterms, and final are all pretty easy. You'll have to sit near the front of class and pay attention to his lectures to do well. Chinichian doesn't follow the textbook that closely (the textbook was more confusing than he was.) Let me preface this by saying that this is the first poly rating I have ever given in 4 years of going here, and this teacher compelled me to write something! Mostafa Chinchilla is BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD in any level of my education! He mumbles, talks while facing the board, and avoids answering any questions asked in class. This is all on top of the fact that he has an accent that is tough to get past. It reached the point at the end of the quarter that it was pointless to go to lecture because I would be less confused by reading the book. Try to avoid him, but since the EE department is clueless, he teaches all the sections of 201... good luck.

Mostafa Chinichian (aka Shenanigans or Mufasa)is one of the worst professors I've had at Cal Poly. It is a pretty much learn-by-yourself course with the exception of some simple circuit theory you'll probably remember from physics. His quizzes are easy...they are open note and identical copies of the hw problems or class examples. His midterms and final are really hard and usually have a pretty big curve because most people don't really know what they're doing. Study groups definitely help in the class, so you can check what you are learning by yourself with others. I had him at 7 am which didn't make things any better. He doesn't understand student questions very well...you'll ask and re-ask in like 10 different ways before finally giving up on asking the question because asking it is hopeless. He makes a lot of mistakes on the board that students find and have to correct. One of the worst things is that he doesn't speak up very well, has a decent accent, mumbles more than anything, and talks directly to the chalk board. It's as if he is talking through problems he does between himself and the board and the class doesn't even exist. He is good in that he provides a lot of examples and not so much theory. You can also go to various sections regardless of which one you are enrolled in. His class sets you up with a poor circuits background, especially for 321, unless you happen to take him again. Overall, this guy just doesn't have the teaching element in him. Take Perks!!!

Quite possibly the nicest teachers I have had so far. I mean, don't even attempt to ask a question or understand the theoretical parts of his lecture, they just don't make any sense. It is very helpful, though, that he does so many examples. The tests are straight from homework or notes and all open note or with a cheat sheet. He talks like everything is so simple, and it's hard to describe...as if he doesn't care at all and is about to fall asleep. I'm rambling, but the point is, take Mostafa and you will not be sorry.

This guy is the best guy. Dont take some other guy. hahahaaa. Well to be serious he basically teaches you everything you need to know but only tests you on the basic or what you will remember in 10 years. He wont test you on the silly special cases because no one is going to remember 10 years from now anyways. Plus he basically gives you your grade based on if you tried or not. All his tests problems are from the hw. So if you take the time to do them you\'ll be fine. You get a cheat sheet too so you can copy down all the homework problems and understand how to do them and you\'ll get an easy A. If you dont copy it down it still wont be hard to figure out because his test consists of find equivalent resistance, do some easy mesh current, some nodal analysis, adding phasors, and etc. Well good luck!

Honestly, from reading all the evaluations for Chinichian really had me scared. There were two testes and one finals. The homework never counted toward your grade but the test problems were pretty much exactly from the homework or from the notes that he gave in class. His final was a bit more tricky so know the concepts well and plus this final isn't on everything from the class. He is a bit hard to understand with his accent, but otherwise he is extremely helpful during office hours.

Your grade from this class is based on 6 quizes, two midterms and a final. Homework isn't collected. Dr. Chinichian is an interesting professor. Pros: He only teaches you the material you need to know and doesn't make it unnecessarily difficult for the hell of it like many professors at Cal Poly, the class format is very relaxed without busy work, and the testing is relatively easy. Cons: He can't answer a question to save his life (but if you actually listen to him, you won't really find yourself needing to ask many questions), he has a difficult accent to understand at times, and doesn't have the neatest handwriting. Many students come to class the first day and get put off accent and handwriting and arrogantly assume he can't teach whatsoever, then stop coming to class, get bad grades on tests, and complain. In reality he teaches you exactly what you need to know if you just listen to him. There were so many engineers in this class that would zone off, get confused because they weren't listening, assume it was Chinichian's fault, then be very rude to him during the class period and ask questions that were painfully obvious if you listened to the lecture. He really can teach well if you give him the chance, he just can't answer questions well. I passed this class without ever doing homework simply by listening carefully during lecture. IF YOU DO POORLY IN THIS CLASS, IT IS ABSOLUTELY YOUR OWN FAULT. Chinichian is honestly better than most.

Chinichian is a wonderful guy. He is always jolly and excited about learning. However, he has a thick accent that can sometimes get in the way of understanding the material he is presenting. In lecture, he tends to get absorbed in his examples on the board, ignoring both student questions and most of the theory from the textbook. Luckily, his office hours are extremely informative. Easy A in this class if you are the type of student who can learn on your own, or in office hours, but if you need lecture, try to take someone else. Quizzes and midterms are generally taken right from the homework, sometimes he doesn't even change the numbers.

He's okay. I like how he teaches the class through examples, so you can just come to class, copy his examples, and go home to figure out how he did it. however, his handwriting is a mess. a lot of times I get his 2s confused with L (important for Rl) and he writes his units weird. He also makes a lot of mistakes on example problems because he just copies off the solution manual. Overall stressful. His tests have low point value (8 quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final), and he takes off points generously. I got 2 points marked off for missing a negative sign and the test of out of 18. Seems like he checks to see if you have the right answer, because If you do, he'll give you full credit. He's also not very good at answering questions, they usually fly over his head. Overall it's a high stress class because you'll be left confused 75% of the time. However, he's a cool guy, he just doesn't really perform well. The class is curved at the end, So you'll get a letter grade above your current one.

The grades are in. I ended up with a C in the class. I got a 60% and 50% on the two midterms so who knows how well i did on the final. This class was stressful. He just does problems on the board and reads off the solution manual. He doesn't really teach, just tells you what to do given a circuit. If you decide to take him, don't expect him to teach you, youll just have to figure everything out yourself via textbook. The only thing i liked about this class was how excited he sounded at the beginning of each class. "Good morning guys! Good Morning!"

I personally liked chinichian as a professor. Yes he's quiet and he does have some problems understanding some student's questions but his class is very easy. Weekly quizzes which are open notes, two midterms where he lets you bring in a page of notes, and a final. If you study the basic concepts and make a good note sheet for the midterms and final you should be fine. The class is also curved. Go to class and put in the work, if you don't do well, its your own fault.

I've read the past ratings, believing I'd be fine if I worked hard. The only reason there's good ratings of Chinichian is because students that took this class are expecting to fail and just banking on the curve. Yes, he may give easy problems sometimes, but if you come out not even knowing how to solve the easy problems that tells you how much you'll have learned by the end of 10 weeks and what kind of professor he is. He has trouble communicating with the class. For starters, the entire class has trouble understanding him because of his very thick accent. One would think if they can't understand what he's saying one can at least rely on the notes... but no. Even the notes on the board are illegible and he assumes you know what they are, so when you ask him a question to clarify what he wrote on the board, he already has difficulty and a loose grasp so his answers aren't very helpful. They turn out being a repetition of mispronounced words. The accent is thick but what really caused me trouble in this class is his assumption that everyone understands what he is talking about when he failed to provide further explanations. There was one particular scenario that exemplified his course this quarter. When we got to phasors, (one of the harder if not hardest topics in the course) he solved the problems by writing the numbers on the board according to whats exactly written on his personal notes. He always makes the jump from the variable equation to the answer, which is normally fine except there is some weird math involved in getting the answer for these problems, which involve using calculations with a special calculator, which he never told us about or showed how to use. And when asked several times how to do it with our calculator, the answer he had was "oh that's because you can't do it with the TI-83 or TI-84." When asked to do it with the type of calculator that was obviously most of the class owned he showed us, but no one got the same answer as him. When asked again how he got the answer when everyone else in the class got an answer different from his, he refused to take the time to stop to clarify or explain how to do the problem, and then proceeded to move on only to teach about a similar phasor problem that required the exact same type of calculation. The entire class was left confused and disgruntled. I felt I was not learning in this class rather I was fastidiously copying diagrams and numbers directly from the board that would mean nothing to mean when I looked back to study and practice through homework problems later in the day. He showed no effort or concern over the fact that most of the class didn't understand the material and consequently were failing the course. I actually really like circuits. Since I love to work with electronics I was actually looking forward to learning the theory but I ended up hating this course not for the difficulty of the material but the ineffectiveness of the professor to convey the material and lack of concern for his students to understand the material as well.

I am currently taking Chinichian, and we just got to phasors. Everyone who complained about not knowing how to add phasors using a TI-83 or 84 did not put any effort into learning it. Yes, Chinichian does not help at all with this, he just says "You cant solve using TI-83,84,ect. I watched a 5 minute youtube video on how to add phasors using TI-84 and I was set. Chinichian sucks at answering questions, but if you pay attention and try to understand the problems in class, you will do just fine. He also is one of the easiest graders. I got less than half of the questions on one of my quizzes right, and still got a 9/10. Take this guy if you care more about getting an easy A/B and just want to make it through EE.

Chinichian is one of the worst teachers I've ever had. He just mumbles at the board, and even if you could here him you probably couldn't understand him through his thick accent. All he does is example problems, so if you want to understand what's happening, take someone else. If you ask questions, he misunderstands and it ends up being more effort than it's worth. He also makes many mistakes as he copies straight from his notes then takes forever to understand when you point them out. However, he grades quite easy. My favorite thing was one quiz when my friend go the wrong answer and he marked it "close enough" and gave full credit.

He actually just a terrible professor. Luckily, the class isnt hard so if you do get stuck with him you can learn the material on your own, but in terms of learning things from him, I got basically nothing. He is really hard to understand because he has a thick accent, mumbles, talks quietly, and faces the board most of the time. He also stands directly in front of the work he puts on the board so you cant read it. His handwriting is almost impossible to read, and he has a very difficult time understand the questions that students ask. He is a very easy grader, and his quizzes are usually questions that he takes from the homework so its pretty easy to pass. That being said, his class was absolutely terrible to sit through because no one was learning anything the whole time. Most students couldnt pay attention and the hour long class felt like an eternity.

Mostafa is known to be easy, but he's not. He'll lure you into thinking that the tests will be like the homework. But he'll slam you on the final. Accent isn't that big of a problem. Just never be afraid to ask in class because the other 29 students didn't hear him either. Office hours can be helpful. Sure, he makes mistakes. He's human afterall and bad karma to those students who go to class and mearly copy notes and believe in them as if they were the bible. Mostafa specializes in communications but he's stuck teaching introductory courses that are difficult for the smartest students to grasp. This is no longer high school. When he runs low in time during the last week of the quarter, he'll throw stuff at you. They're fair game on the final b/c as college students we should study beyond the scope of lecture. He's extremely easy in lab, which can be a bad thing because I really don't know what went on in EE341, a rather important lab because future classes contantly refer back to experiments done in there. I like to use this website to post funny stories about sad professors. Back in 211 Cheechman gives a question on midterm one straight from the friggin Sadiku book. It looks really simple, but it has a bait for a rookie mistake. Since its an odd problem in the book, anyone who did the problem for practice or was quick on their toes solved the problem correctly. The other half of the class along with Cheechman make the rookie mistake. Since Cheechman grades full points for correct final answer, half points for some work shown with wrong answer - he doesnt even pick up on his mistake grading two sections worth of midterms. After someone was kind enough to point Mostafas mistake, half the class got their points back - and the other half a bonus 10% on the midterm. Get the point?

"Cheechman" is actually a good guy. Once you get used to his accent (and tell him to speak up a little), the class is both interesting and helpful. His lectures are well-structured, something that I've always found important, and he gives lots of examples and adequate (yet not overkill) homework assignments. The quizzes (open-note/book) and tests are fair and do-able, just make sure you've done your problems and paid attention. I also had him for lab, in which he was very helpful and pretty laid-back. You get a week to do the formal write-ups, and he goes over the answers to the pre-labs before you start so you have a good idea of what you're doing. Overall, definitely a decent prof.

I could not hear this guy half the time when he was mumbling to himself at the board, and when he did turn around his accent was so thick I still couldn't really get what he was saying. His handwriting and organization was haphazard at best, and he made quite a few mistakes on the board. However, his quizzes are real easy open book and open notes and you get to take a massive review sheet to each midterm. One thing to note: he gets some questions for his tests from the homework he assigns, so go over those in prep for a midterm, which is something that I failed to do.

SIT AT THE FRONT OF THE CLASS!!! He mumbles most of the times, unless someone in the class is brave enough to tell him to speak up every 5 minutes... He does a few things differently from the book, so at times it can be confusing. I hear he's one of the best EE teachers for 112 and 211 though, just because everyone else has an accent. Chinichian is fairly easy if your willing to put some effort. His tests are usually about 3 to 5 problems long and are basically homework problems in disguise. He has a weekly quiz which is 1 to 2 questions, also homework problems in disguise. He gives FULL CREDIT ON ALL HOMEWORK as long as you show SOME work...you don't even have to have the right answer. This saved my butt! He's a very laid back professor. Watch out, he makes mistakes on the chalk board ALL THE TIME and skips many many steps... just ask him to clarify and he will. Don't be shy to ask him questions or ask him to clarify!!!

EE 211 covers diff. equations (which they assume you already know while taking MATH 244), operational amplifiers, and RC/RL circuits. Operational Amplifiers/KCL problems are pretty fun. Chinichian mumbles a lot, but he's not the worst. His exams were mostly from the examples and some. Write down every example and do homework problems from a good circuits book at IEEE. The 112,211, and 212 series is foundational for EEs, but EE 212 is probably the most important class, so get an above average professor for that. Chinichian's 211 will carry you forward for the time-being.

Dr. Chinichian is very nice, and does his best to be helpful, but he very often has difficulty getting his point across both in lecture and in answering questions in class. He is an extremely easy grader, but you will probably have to learn much of the course material yourself from the textbook.

Chinichian's teaching methods do not encourage students to put much effort into his class. His lecture is very dull. All of the midterms and tests are basically renumbered ones from the previous quarter, and none of the homework assignments change. He assigns homework once a week and does not grade it very strictly at all, which later amounts to you doing it the night before and not really caring much at all about it. I found myself spending a lot of time learning from the book. He seems lazy when it comes to the material, but he's a very nice guy and very helpful in office hours.

His cannot communicate the material, cannot answer questions and cannot correct mistakes. Avoid him at all costs. As he and Harris (who also sucks) were the only EE professors I had for my fresh and soph years (I'm a graduating senior now) that all EE professors sucked as bad as them; fortunately this is not true, every other professor I've had has been much better. You better have a very good idea of what is going on in the class if you don't go and see this guy for help and have him explain what he lectured. If you just go on his lectures you might get frustrated at the numerous times that he makes mistakes on problems he shows you on the board. Students have been known to correct him numerous number of times. Don't be surprised if none of the stuff he writes makes any sense. He expects you to know the material and will skip many steps and also leave out solutions for you to find. Don't expect to have him answer all your questions in class because he might not know them. As for being a lenient grader, he does give you a lot of credit for practically nothing. But that doesn't mean he will give you a lot of points for just straight junk. He writes lightly, so unless you have keen vision, don't sit in the back of the room. He's usually helpful during office hours, but will not really help you if it isn't. And if you have trouble with understanding accents, get a translator. He is a horrible lecturer and you can learn more by not going to class. Go see him during his office hours if your uncertain of how to do the problems. That would actually help you more than sitting through the whole semester in the classroom.

He goes over the important stuff and skipped the silly formalities. His weekly quizzes and tests are a lot like (if not identical) to the homework, BUT...every once in a while (probably for one or two questions on the two midterms, and for one or two of the quizzes) he'll catch you off guard with a question that's kind of crazy or at least seems so. If you do the homework and keep up you should be fine.

I had Chinichian for both 211 and 212 (the latter because he was the only one teaching the course this quarter). For the most part, he's a very chill and laid-back prof. His lectures are based almost entirely off examples, which is a good thing if you easily learn that way. There's 2 midterms (40% of your grade), a final (30%), weekly quizzes (15%, lowest one dropped), homework collected every week (15%). Quizzes are pretty much like the homework, and I found the tests to be a bit easier than the homework. Also beware of what you write down on tests and homework, because chances are, his answer key might be wrong. This ended up happening to me on a couple occasions, as for instance on the first midterm, there were people who got the last problem incorrect (but did it correctly), but after someone was kind enough to point out his mistake, those who went to his office hours and got it checked got their points back. If it wasn't for the really smart students correcting him I think I would have done some problems completely wrong for the entire quarter. Also sit in front of the class or else you won't be able to hear him. He isn't evil or anything, just a really goofy guy who makes mistakes almost as much as the crappy textbook does, but I'd take him again for any future classes. Oh yeah, and be prepared to be introduced to some new vocabulary, including "woltage" (voltage), "ecch" (H), etc. Also on his syllabus note the phrase "There are not make up tests also!." I could only imagine him saying that out loud.

Chinichian is average. He's not the easiest fellow to understand, but you get used to it. The more dangerous part is his bad habit of dropping terms out of equations when moving between steps. I can't quite count the number of times someone in class corrected him. The homework is as expected, but graded easily. The tests were pretty easy, the quizzes were open book. Good teacher to take if you do the majority of your learning from the text.

He is, without a doubt, the worst professor i have taken. It is really difficult to understand what he says during lecture, not necessarily because of his accent but more because he wont go over anything conceptually. He will do problems which are not even in the textbook as far homework problems, do mistakes while in lecture, and have them on the test. Test and Quiz problems come out of no where and are usually covering subjects which were the least covered in class.

It is very hard to understand Chinichian. His accent and poor grammar are incomprehensible. Besides his poor English, he is still hard to learn from. His lectures are disorganized and it is hard to understand where he is going with things. He doesn't really ever say where he is going but just starts writing things on the board without fully describing where they came from. I should have known better to wait to take this class on quarter so I would not be stuck with a terrible professor. He frequently makes mistakes that confuse the class and him. When he makes a mistake, it takes a long time for him to find it and a long time for him to correct it. When a student asks a simple, clear question he has a hard time realizing what they mean. He usually explains something that the student wasn't even asking about. When he does answer a question, he explains it the exact same way he did the first time. Usually students just pretend to they understand his explanation to the question just so the class can move on. The only reason to come to class is for the examples, which are closely related to the test questions. Similarly, the only reason to go to office hours is to get points back on tests, which he seems to assign arbitrarily. I will avoid Chinichian in the future.

Chinichian is soft spoken. Make sure to sit in the front. A lot of people dislike him and make fun of how he talks, but I can see past that. He makes a lot of mistakes so make sure you're on top of your game. Correcting him will only help you learn more. Homework is assigned for a week, about 7 problems. There are quizzes that are open book/open notes but are only 10 minutes long, so make sure you practice problems ahead of time. Midterms were rough but some are exactly like homework problems, so it's obvious points. I still crack up about how he kicks the chalk when it breaks.

There are only two teachers that teaches this course, Yu, and my buddy Mostafa. Whatever you don't get in the lecture he explains himself really clear in office hours. Homework is collected once a week. Sometimes it doesn't seem like it matters if you get all the answers right or not, he'll give you full credit, of all the homeworks i only got marked down for one problem and i'm pretty sure i had more than one problem wrong. He gives pop quizzes which aren't too hard. His midterms are usually about 4-5 problems long, those again aren't too hard. For midterms though it's important to study your notes carefully, unlike quizzes you can't just rely on your homework. Quizzes are open note, open book, midterms, you get a cheat sheet. Final is cumulative, 5 problems, again not too hard. This guy curves the midterms too. First midterm i got a 16.5 out of 25, which sucks, but he drops your lowest problem ( i don't know if he does this for every quarter but i ended up getting a B for that midterm). He also curved the second midterm as well. Homeworks are 15% of your grade, quizzes are 10%, midterm1 is 25%, midterm2 is 25% and the final is 25%. This guy makes some mistakes from time to time but I still think he's a decent teacher. He's a funny guy. MEAANNNTERRMS!! You'll get what I'm saying when you take him. Overall, good teacher for this course. Not too hard, and you'll learn. Trust me, i'm a slooow learner.

Okay, here's the lowdown on Chinichian... If you're a CSC major, who has never dealt with circuits...probably not your best bet. He doesn't explain things as clearly as he could, and CPE/EE majors have a prereq before this course to help them prepare for 219 (or so I've heard). He is by no means a bad professor, though. Also, if you have have a bad time with accents, then Chinichian isn't for you. On the other hand, he is a very good grader in that he'll give you half credit for a wrong answer. Also, he wants to help his students and if you go to office hours, he will spend as much time as needed to help you. And, if you make an improvement, he'll notice. I failed my first midterm, went to office hours for help and really kicked it up a gear, and did better on my next midterm and final - & got a B overall. So, he has his flaws and his perks. I think the CPE/EE majors will enjoy him more than the CSC ones, but that's my opinon. Either way, good luck!

This guy is the man for lab. If you can't get your circuit to work, he'll tear it apart and redo it for you (even if it was set up correctly.) I found that somewhat annoying because that made it seem like we had nothing correct in the first place, and he doesn't even consider what you have done. He'll answer all of your questions. Very friendly, too. Every week you just handed in this week's prelab and the last week's lab report, he discussed it for a few minutes, and you would go straight to the experiment, and leave when you're finished. There was a 3-question lab final, each question with 2-4 parts. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't hard at all. Take him for lab anyways.. they fill up fast. Although if you can't get him, it's not much of a loss.

The first thing you'll notice about Chinichian is that his way of speaking isn't the easiest to understand. The accent isn't a big deal in my opinion, but he slurs his words and doesn't enunciate too much. When he explains stuff during lab, it can sometimes be challenging to know what he says. That aside, he'll help you to complete every lab, and skips the bullshit sections if there are any (he didn't design the lab experiments). For our class, he was an easy grader for lab reports, as well as prelabs. In fact, he gave us the answers for the prelabs. The lab final is pretty straight forward and has questions similar to the prelabs. Overall, if you don't want a hard time in EE241, take him.

Mostafa is pretty average when it comes to professors. I had him for the lab portion of EE211 and I don't think I really learned anything? When you ask for help he'll just come over and fix the circuit and then it works so that's nice but I still didn't know how to do it. The prelabs were a joke because he would send us the answers beforehand. The lab reports we almost always got a 10 even if we left stuff off (although that may have been the grader not him). The final, however, came way out of nowhere. He said it would be like the prelabs and it had stuff on there that we had only done lectures not lab. Also, he has a brutal curve where some kids got 96% in the class and still got a B. In general I'm pretty meh about his class.

I had him for lab. He wasn't difficult and didn't require us to do every little thing in the lab book, but he wasn't spectacular either. My lab partner and I both knew our stuff pretty well, so when we came across a problem we couldn't solve, there likely wasn't an easy fix. Chinichian always assumed we didn't know what we were talking about and would repeatedly attempt to fix a problem we didn't have. Once he re-built our circuit twice before he would accept that our resistor was FUBAR. All in all, a pretty average instructor, but that wouldn't stop me from taking him again.

Do anything possible to take this professor over Dean Arakaki. Your life will improve drastically. Just about every lab we cut out one of the sections and left at least an hour before lab was officially over. He will help you understand anything you ask him, and is willing to take late work during office hours (be sure to e-mail him). Reports are straightforward, no "discussion" or rewriting of procedures, just make sure you put the charts in, answer the questions, conclusion and you're done. Before the final he said "You all have B's...this will determine if you get an A." Final was pretty straightforward. Lets you have cheat sheets and more.

Chinichian sucks. I didn't want to learn everything there is to know about EE but I did want to at least understand the basic concepts. Chinich made that damn near impossible. He skips all the really basic information that is crucial to understanding the material and never answers the question you ask him. The only thing that saves him is that it's almost impossible to get less than an A if you understood EE 201. I went to about half the classes and missed 2 out of 8 quizzes and still got an A. But seriously, take Perks if you can. He's not much harder but you'll actually know some basic electronics when you're done.

So before I took this class, I came to poly ratings because I heard all the negative rumors about Chinichian. After going through the class, I realized what a bunch of stupid racist a$$holes love to post on poly ratings because they don't feel like busting their rear ends off. Listen up chump-o's. Everyone who has to take this class is obviously not an EE major. EE sucks. But it's just something you have to take. Chinichian made the class VERY easy to learn the basics. This class just covers the absolute basics about electronics. Don't go into this class thinking you'll learn the ins and outs of it. There were two midterms (each 25%), the final (30%), and (the best part) 20%, (yeah you read it right), 20% for attendance. How can you make an EE class any easier than that? He was practically handing out A's just as long as you showed up, took notes, and did the practice problems he assigned on blackboard to prepare you for the midterms (which were monkey problems as long as you went to class). I enjoyed the fact that he acknowledged his students every morning with a "Good Morning." One of the nicest professors I've ever had at Poly. Highly recommend him.

This class is really a gamble. It is gonna be either easy as hell or easy. 20% of the grade is just from showing up to class and initialing the sign in sheet. The rest is 2 midterms and a final, all 3 problems each. As long as you try I don't it is possible to fail his class, though if you want an A you pretty much have to get the only 9 problems graded throughout the quarter correct.

This guy tries really hard, so I feel bad saying he\'s a poor lecturer, but it\'s true. He tends to teach from a \"this is what you do\" standpoint as opposed to \"this is why you do it.\" Because of this, I felt my knowledge of the subject had scores of tiny gaps in it that weren\'t immediately obvious during lecture but that bit me later on in the quarter. He also spoke softly, which, when combined with the unengaging material, made for a truly sleep-inducing fifty minutes. I appreciated how he taught the full subject matter but only tested on the essentials--it showed that he\'s realistic and only expects us to recall the core concepts from the class that we will use in industry. Bottom line: pick another teacher if you can, but don\'t worry too much if you can\'t.

Worthless. That's how I would describe this guy. He doesn't explain anything and does not recognize what students need to know or aren't understanding. Also he made 5 mistakes in the last class session.

Thick accent and poor hearing but a big ol' heart. Quizzes are nearly for wrote homework questions and you can bring the homework solutions provided on his polylearn with you. Exams are short simple questions very close to the homework. In case you're not getting it, all the material is based off the homework. One surprise question on the final that was not well covered in lecture or homework but because everything else went well... A minus. Lol. TL:DR Easy class, no outside work

PROFESSOR CHINICHIAN ROCKS! dunno why all these ratings are so mean and xenophobic. he's sooo easy I literally go to class once a week to take the quiz (which is open book and open note and usually identical to a hw problem). The midterms are chill af and you get a cheat sheet front and back. I also had him for lab and he's so easygoing and funny. I didn't go to lectures, just did the homework off chegg (which is never due) and read the textbook pdf. He's not the greatest professor if you are really tryna learn Electronics, but as this is just a support for ME's, so im down for an easy time.

MOSTAFA!!! Dude should just become a mumble rapper because... he mumbles lmao. That being said, you can't really understand anything he says in lecture, but that's alright considering he's still the best professor for EE 321 due to the fact he grades very fairly(generously) and gives quizzes/tests that are very similar to the examples he gives in class. Didn't have him for lab, so can't say what he's like when he gets physical. Roll with this cat if you can.

Chinichian is pretty awesome to have for lab. He makes it really easy and straightforward for you. Helps you out immensely with the prelabs and the labs when you get stuck. Also, your lab reports are much easier than with other profs. I never spent more than an hour writing them and always did well on them. Just get your cover page correct and all of your data organized as well as a conclusion and you'll get full credit. You won't regret taking him for lab, super easy as long as you know the material well from lecture and you can ace his lab final which isn't too bad

Chinichian is the fucking man. Seriously love this dude. I literally did nothing in this lab. I would call him over and he would help us with literally setting up the entire thing. He was also chill with grading. 10/10 would recommend

What the guy/gal below said. Amen. I too took this class and have long since graduated from Poly, but I was cruising Poly Ratings for a kick and thought that I should pipe in and let you know how much of a joke this prof is.
