Chatziioanou is the man. For CE 112 I really enjoyed going to his class. He's very straightforward and he's interested and interesting. The final project we did was somewhat time consuming for a two unit course, and if you chose a bad group then you're done for. Take him for CE112; pay attention in class and the 5 point quizzes are a breeze.

Professor Chatziioanou is a very nice guy, but he turned what could have been an extremely interesting class into one that was the most boring class I have had in a while. He would just lecture the whole hour about one case study of a civil engineering project and continued to do this throughout the quarter, essentially teaching us nothing. Then we were assigned a ridiculously complicated project at the end of the quarter, which frustrated a lot of people. He is a friendly teacher, but I left the class questioning if I learned anything at all.

He doesn't always get across what he's looking for when you give a presentation, but then a lot of groups didn't do what was asked. He's a nice guy if you have to go to him outside of class. I heard Sullivan is easier for this class.

Dr. Chatziioanou gave a good introduction to engineering. He does not ask much of the class, except for occasional group presentations. They are easy, but he is not really specific about what he wants done. Otherwise, he is a good professor.

ALthough this class was easy Dr. Chatziioanou expects nothing but the best from students. He is very helpful during his office hours. the class grade is based on 50% lab grade. The lab is easy. Although i think there should have been a different approach to teach AUTO-CAD. the instructor Ken Hoffman was great. He will show all the shortcuts the manual never mentions. it should be a peace of cake just plan on taking a good hour or two on the lab write-up. the other 50% is on the lecture. Be sure to take good notes and write all important things like group member names, final note on a study. he will be strict about grading your notebook at the end of the quarter. just do what he says on the class syllubus. There is two quizes that should not be hard if you take good notes. and attendance is a must although you might not think so. he writes down names of who is absent. OH! one more thing start the Delta project on time! and put all the effort you can. other than that the class is pretty good.

This is an intro class. If you don't get a good grade maybe engineering isn't your thing. I already had a familiarity with engineering and so had a head start. Pay attention to the lectures (they're interactive) and you should have no trouble on quizzes. There is no final or exams, just quizzes, labs, a technical notebook (class notes are graded), and a group project. Bottom line, take Dr. Chatz if you can get over his accent.

Chatziioanou is a very smart man, with a lot of information to share. The toughest part for the students was understanding what was going on. For about the first week and a half no one knew if he was lecturing or telling us a story. He wasn't always clear on what we were supposed to do. Yet in the end, we figured it out, and this really was a very easy class.

Professor Chatziioanou was a great guy. He tried to make it seem like this class would be hard and a lot of work but in reality it is the easiest A you'll get out of this school. His quizzes are based on the lecture and take good notes for the final notebook. There is no final and the quizzes are your only tests. He knows a lot about transportation so he spends a lot of time in class talking about it. He is really smart and if you can get past his accent he is a good teacher to take.

It's an intro course and he teaches it like one. No tricks or confusing material. A few quizzes here and there to make sure you're keeping up with the lectures. No reading, no midterm, no final. One group project near the end of the quarter. Nice guy, too.

Chatz is a fair teacher and this class is at times just busy work. In the end he comes through and makes it all connect to Civil Engineering, but for the the most part some assignments and projects will have you questioning why you are in this class. Do your Delta Project well and try to think of intricate answers for the tests and you should do fine.

I did not find Dr. Chatz hard to understand unlike some of the other posts... he talked and articulated slowly and concisely. This class was pretty straightforward- case studies on 6 different projects over the quarter, all involving a writeup and sometimes a bit more. The quizzes were pretty open ended, but graded pretty forgivingly. You can tell that Dr. Chatz knows his stuff from the discussions, but the technical level was within comprehension for the majority of the class... just the few freshmen (like me!) that take the class may run into some unfamiliar terms. Oh, and I should also mention that the lecture portion of the class has nothing to do with the lab. We never so much as mentioned AutoCAD during any hour of class. Overall, a great professor and fair grader; I would highly recommend Dr. Chatz for 114.

He has high-level vocabulary and questionable choice in words but that does not make him difficult to understand. It\'s just tricky to connect to him, and I think he should not be teaching a 100 level class. I did learn a lot from him and lost focus in the end. I also did not go to his office hours; something I should have probably done. He\'ll probably be as nice there as in lecture.

His lectures are usually interesting and they give students chances to get involved. He is very approachable and easy-going. Only drawback is sometimes it was unclear what he wanted on homework assignments, but he'd be helpful if you asked. Overall, a great teacher!

Alypios is a great guy and a great tecaher. He is very freindly and is always helpful. The lectures were interesting and he covered every aspect of the material very well. The homework he gave was never difficult and was given every week or two. The test were very straight foward and he would review the material before the test. The only downside he had was if he finished the lecture early he would tend to make use of the full time block by recapping everything he went through, which can be helpful or can be annouying if you want to leave.

His lectures were never very organized, sometimes extremely hard to follow. Luckily, his test are open ended and you mostly need to know the main concepts. If he puts more detalied problems in, he probably already quized on it. I didn't buy the book and you don't need it if you go to class and take notes.

This guy has his pros and cons. First, his lectures can be really tough to follow, since he doesn't really write much on the board, so you don't know what to write down. However, he is very approachable and will clear any difficulties. He is an okay teacher overall.

Sometimes tough to understand, not because of the accent, but because he doesnt always clarify specifically what he expects on his assignments. He really knows what hes talking about, but this guy is more for advanced engineering classes.

This professor is probably not a good choice for lower level engineering courses. You can tell he really knows his shit, but its kind of difficult to tell what he wants you to remember for tests (although they are open book which helps a lot.) I am an engineering student, and like most, when you tell me what i need to know I will know it! In his lectures he'll go off on long tangents about equations that engineers use, but then tell us we don't need to know how to use the equation, we just need to know that it exists and what it is called. Most of the test questions are better answered with common sense then searching through the book or your notes. A lot of people thought he was easy ( a class you could easily b.s.), but I found the class difficult because I never knew what to study.

This is a relatively easy class taught by a passionate professor which produces papers that make excellent work samples for future jobs. It's a broad survey class that is more big picture than detail oriented, which is always a nice change of pace if you have an otherwise heavy quarter. Most of your grade is group projects so plan accordingly.
