BUS 321 Senior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 6:55 pm, Mar 5, 2013 Report Evaluation		Keller's class consists of 3 tests and a "bond problem." The first test is worth 75 points and the other 2 are worth 150. The bond problem is 50. Keller lets you out of class at least an hour early every time because he knows that the only way to get good at accounting is through practice and not through lecture. Class consisted of him going through a chapter in his book (his book consists of ~18 chapters of just practice problems and answers). So he would go over the stuff one time and let you practice the rest. IMO this is a very effective way to teach accounting. I got an A- and I never went to class.

BUS 321 Junior Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 11:57 am, Dec 12, 2012 Report Evaluation		WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. he flips through a solution manual all quarter and expects you to understand intermediate accounting by memorizing a few problems. then on the test he will put trick questions in and expect you to "understand" them because he apparently talked about in in "lecture". Fun fact ... his "lectures" are 30 minutes. aka you'll be in class maybe an hour a week. good luck in life. it's not like this class is an integral part of your accounting curriculum. nope, not at all.

BUS 214 Sophomore Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 7:57 pm, Jun 11, 2012 Report Evaluation		The class is organized in a way where you have to teach the material to yourself by rote repetition of previous practice tests. Funny, jolly old man. "Listen to an old man's advice, ya gotta practice." Practice the previous exams a lot, and you'll get an A. I love how on test days he comes in , plops the tests on the table, and says, "Come and get 'em. Start when you're ready." Good teacher, be prepared to practice (notice a theme here? practice?).

BUS 422 Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 10:40 pm, Mar 14, 2012 Report Evaluation		Nice guy, terrible teacher. If you want to watch him scroll through exercise answers (which you already have) for an hour, then go home and teach yourself everything, go ahead and take this class. Otherwise, take another elective. Even suffering through Mintz is better.

BUS 214 Sophomore Grade Earned: D Required (Major) 10:01 pm, Dec 14, 2011 Report Evaluation		Okay. So maybe I am a total outlier, but i DID NOT find Professor Keller to be this great professor his reviews claim he is. First of all, his idea of "teaching" is putting answers on the screen and telling you what to put for every practice problem you do in class. As far as i am concerned, i could have spent my time at home doing the exact same thing. He does not have a true text book for the class. all you have is a packet of 16 examples and a comprehensive review for the final. His syllabus says that the class participation is a part of the grade, but DONT expect it in the final grade. I did not miss a single class, and I was ALWAYS one of the final students to leave during the final hour of the classes. did not matter when determining my final grade. Professor Keller is inflexible and unfair in his final grades. DO NOT expect to be have your grade changed if you contact him over grades. Actually. DONT TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE THE CHOICE!!!!!

BUS 214 Freshman Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 12:45 pm, Dec 10, 2011 Report Evaluation		He is simply the best. He teaches a little too fast, so make sure to ask questions, do not be afraid, in fact he likes it more because it shows you are trying to understand. Go to class everyday and stay until the end, he notices work and effort and that counts for your final grade. He's a genius, really smart, always willing to help, and is the cutest old man! you have 2 tests and a final. you have to study for all of them! once you grasp it it's not hard. there are no surprises on his tests, but you still have to study for the final. other than that, deff take him. he's the best teacher.

BUS 214 Sophomore Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 6:23 pm, Dec 14, 2010 Report Evaluation		Professor Keller is such a nice guy! I really learned a lot from this class and it has made me more interested in accounting. In the beginning of his class I was confused because he taught straight from the notes from the packet required for the class. I thought there was going to be a book, and there is an option to buy it online, which I recommend if you want to learn about each topic covered in depth. I soon learned that the exercises were the key material to get down and to practice them over and over. I also recommend staying for the 2nd half of his class to work on the exercises and to ask a lot of questions. It really helps to talk to him because he knows a lot about accounting and he recognizes the people who stay after class and put in the extra effort.

BUS 214 Sophomore Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 8:43 am, Oct 25, 2010 Report Evaluation		A really nice guy. First 2 tests aren\'t very hard but make sure you study a bunch for the final. Lectures always get out early which is great and he is always willing to help you if you want to stay the rest of the class for extra practice. Study for the tests and you\'ll do fine.

BUS 321 Junior Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 9:51 am, May 9, 2010 Report Evaluation		I started off with Keller and I had to drop his course because he only gives you the problems and the answer sheet and expects you to know how to do it. If you are like me and do not know how already you might get lost in the shuffle. I tried to learn on my own from the book and he goes by a book he made up himself. I was bouncing all over the place and could not get a handle on what I was doing. I received 126% in Bus 214 yet I was utterly lost in Keller\'s class. On the plus side, he is very knowledgeable and seems to have a lot of wisdom. He is a very nice man and let me drop his class with a W and I respect him for the amount of knowledge he has to impart.I just wish he would impart it and not leave it to the students to learn on their own.

BUS 214 Freshman Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 2:47 pm, Apr 1, 2010 Report Evaluation		Keller is a really nice old man. He doesn\'t have any kids so he really enjoys talking with his students. His class isn\'t that hard as long as you practice the examples like he says to do. If you know the practice test you\'re set on the test. Lecture is only an hour and the second hour of the class is reserved for you to practice on your own and ask him questions. Accounting is a challenging class, but with some work you can get an A with Keller.



BUS 214 Freshman Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 10:51 am, Mar 23, 2010 Report Evaluation		Professor Keller certainly knows his material. He is an older gentleman who has been teaching for quite a while, and has actually written a packet of problems to solve which is used in substitution of a textbook. So you do save money by not having to purchase a textbook, just his packet, which I think was around $20. The disadvantage is that the problems and exercises are the only things worked on in the class. Very few concepts and principles are taught, and I thought more should have been taught seeing how this is an introductory course in accounting. I felt as though I was just memorizing how to complete each journal entry, but not really understanding WHY we did that, just HOW. Professor Keller\'s class is structured such that the first hour is spent walking through the exercise, and the second hour is left for the student to practice or leave. I would highly recommend that one stays for that second hour to practice the exercises because you\'ll have to anyway if you want to get a good grade, and what better resource to practice with then the professor who wrote the exercise! Professor Keller is approachable and I found I asked many questions about the concepts and that helped me better understand the exercises. He\'s not the best professor I\'ve had, but certainly not the worse.

BUS 214 Freshman Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 1:48 pm, Mar 19, 2010 Report Evaluation		So basically, here\'s the deal woth keller: you go to class which is suppodsed to be a 2 hour lecture. you listen to him ramble on and very quickly moving the mouse along the screen, so you better be quick. his lecture is finised aftr one hour maximum, say about 40 min of lecture. them you are free to do whatever you please, but i recommend you to saty because your participation points can help your grade if you are borderline and he will know if you went to class or not baceuse he makekes a seating chart. after his letcure he just sits in front of the room and marks people who leave early. he is not very approachable with questions and makes you fell stupid...2 midterms, 1 fnal, that\'s your whole grade. make sure you really study his worksheets and you should do fine, because his test have no surprises, they just follow the worksheets. overall, if you want to teach accounting to yourself, then take keller...

I don\'t know if he should be teaching an introductory accounting class though because it was hard to follow along at first. His lectures only last an hour tops because he goes through the exercises really fast. You can stay the second hour to ask questions. Make sure you practice all of his exercises as well as the practice exams. His tests aren\'t too bad and he\'s a very understanding professor.

Honestly, if you just practice the worksheets he gives the class, like he says to, you\'ll be fine. The two midterms and the final, the class consists of are exactly like them. Ask him for help, he likes to help his students after he is finished lecturing. Stay after he is done talking, he marks his students who stay and actually do their work, which is fair.

BUS 214 Freshman Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 8:31 pm, Mar 2, 2010 Report Evaluation		Keller is a cute old man and will make you smile as he tells you about other random facts. He is a good teacher and there is plenty of time to get help in class from him as well as in office hours. He may seem like he\'s too old, but her does really know how to teach. He has helpful hints of how to become rich and his classes never last the full two hours so don\'t fret. You only have 3 tests that will you\'re whole grade. You should definitely take Keller.

BUS 214 Freshman Grade Earned: B Required (Support) 2:37 pm, May 14, 2009 Report Evaluation		Keller explained financial accounting straight up. He had 3 tests as the whole grade. I probably should have gotten an A but the final was a little difficult because it was cumulative of the whole course. Class was never two hours. He lectured for maybe 30-40 minutes every day and you were free to leave afterward if you wanted. I generally stayed a little longer to work on the worksheets. There isn't a book for the class except his worksheets. Overall, he teaches what you need to know and he is a very nice man.



BUS 422 Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 6:16 pm, Mar 25, 2009 Report Evaluation		Keller is straight forward. He gives you the exercises, goes over them, provides a practice test, tests you, curves a bit then gives you a final grade. No homework due, but it is strongly recommended that you get started early on learning the material. Also, Keller allows a double sided cheat sheet for the exam. TIP: Minimize the PDF exercises (get newest version of adobe and use snap shot tool.) Trust me, my grade greatly improved upon doing this. Keller is a dinosaur. From time to time, he will talk about some life experiences. I loved these moments, whether it they were insightful or not. He finishes class with 30-60 minutes to spare. Government Accounting is bizarre! =)

BUS 214 Sophomore Grade Earned: N/A Required (Support) 11:51 pm, Nov 11, 2008 Report Evaluation		dude this class is super chill. its a 2 hour class, but every class we just do an excercise for 40 minutes then you can work on it on your own for as along as you want. i never had to stay longer than an hour. just go to the class and you'll get the stuff. he gives you previous midterms to study from and as long as you memorize those you will do fine. hes old but he down with college kids. he just teaches what you need to know and then you can practice more if you need to.

BUS 214 Freshman Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 5:31 pm, Apr 7, 2008 Report Evaluation		I had to teach myself how to do everything in this Financial Accounting class, or ask other students. I could not rely on Keller to help at all. He would sit in the front of the room all period staring kids down and making marks on the seating chart, noting kids with "bad attitudes" that didn't do their work or "cut out early." He was very intimidating and when I did ask for help he would just kinda point and be like obviously that's how you do it. This is another class where it doesn't really matter if you understand it, you just need to know how to actually do the work, which can be frustrating. The book was not required, we just had a workbook of activities we would "go over together" in class, which was just him moving his cursor around really fast on the screen, that we couldn't follow. Then we would spend the rest of the period working on the activities. He never really taught us how to do them, basically we had to look up the answers and learn from them. I don't know how other teachers compare, or if it is just Accounting that is the problem, but I do not recommend this class or this teacher.

BUS 420 Senior Grade Earned: C Elective 11:41 pm, Mar 31, 2008 Report Evaluation		This class just consists of going to class where you go over a problem or two in the course packet for the first 50 minutes, then he lets you go and you can either do the problems in class or just leave. It is probably best to stay after and do the problems so that you can ask questions when you have them. The problems are long and complex and he doesnt really do much in the way of explaining as you mainly just run through the problem quickly. You do get a page of notes for each test, but if you dont know the material well and just depend on your sheet, you are going to run out of time. This class is hard and if you can find an easier i recommend it. Keller is a nice guy and is willing help when you have problems. He also uses a generous grading scale.

BUS 321 Sophomore Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 12:36 pm, Dec 30, 2006 Report Evaluation		Everything is from his workbook. If you can figure things out by yourself, he's a good teacher who wastes no time with BS. If you need help learning accounting and asking why... as well as how... Keller can't really help you there. He'll show you how it's done. That's about it. You just have to memorize the process and re-iterate it on a test. Pretty straightforward; hence, not too exciting.

BUS 321 Junior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 9:59 pm, Jul 8, 2006 Report Evaluation		I HATE THIS MAN!!! whatever you do, do not take 321 with keller. He does not teach you anything, you have to learn on your own for the entire quarter. He also makes you learn a lot about cash flows, which i hear is not a big portion in the class for other teachers. Keller's polyratings are overrated. I thought he would be good, but he was the worst accounting teacher i have ever had. I would try to take someone else. keller was the only one teaching 322 in the spring, and i didn't take it just to aviod keller. I would rather wait until next year and forget everything i learned to have a different teacher.

BUS 322 Junior Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 9:56 am, Jun 17, 2006 Report Evaluation		DO NOT TAKE KELLER!! He is a horrible teacher. You end up having to teach yourself everything on your own. Is grading system is completely unfair, all he does is look at your three scores and picks a grade. You could deserve a B and He will give you a C. My friends have had other teachers and I would definitely recommend anyone else over keller.

BUS 322 Junior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 11:05 am, Jun 15, 2006 Report Evaluation		If you want to work your ass off and get nothing in return this is the right teacher for you. His grading system is horrible, he is the only teacher that will curve your grade down instead of up. I earned an A in his course but received a B because he will not give you an A unless every test score is an A no matter what your points add up to. Moreover, Keller does not teach instead he treats everything like review. The exercises he hands out help you learn the material, but do not expect to learn anything from the teacher. Also on exams he introduces all these new senarios that you have no means of obtaining the information leaving you to try to learn how to do that type of problem during the exam. If the test are going to be hard he should make the exercises hard.

BUS 322 Junior Grade Earned: F Required (Major) 12:35 pm, Jun 10, 2006 Report Evaluation		322 is a tough course! Do not take more than 12 units in a quarter if you are taking this class. Of all the accounting teachers at Cal Poly I think Keller is the best. His packets seem huge but you really learn the material by doing them. It is a very hands on approach and you learn the material through repetition. Be prepared for a lot of work. This class isn't easy no matter what teacher you take but atleast you will learn from Keller.

BUS 321 Junior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 1:15 am, May 28, 2006 Report Evaluation		keller is HARD!! and to top it off, he does not teach the material. you need to learn all the stuff on your own. he throws you a huge packet with a lot of exercises, you need to really do all of them three times, and make a really good cheat sheet if you want to pass! if you can, try not to take him, but you may be screwed because the other accounting teacher are just as bad . . .

BUS 321 Sophomore Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 9:13 am, Mar 22, 2006 Report Evaluation		I can't believe anyone could possibly enjoy this ass. He is the most boring teacher I have ever met. His approach to teaching made me want to scream. I could not learn one thing from him. All he does is go over a ridiculously boring packet and does not teach a damn thing. Plus, he says no tricks on his tests, but that is a flat out lie, he throws in much more difficult questions than the exam from the quarter before that he lets you review. Plus, he thinks he is funny when is jokes are the lamest things I have ever heard. NO REAL WORLD learning at all! This guy is the biggest BS I have ever seen. DO NOT TAKE HIM or you will be in hell. What is Cal Poly thinking??? Fire him!

BUS 322 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 4:18 pm, May 5, 2005 Report Evaluation		Earl Keller is one of the nicest and friendliest guys you will ever meet. Secondary to that, he is also an excellent accounting teacher with vast amounts of experience and a laundry list of accolades. He is fair, challenging, friendly, helpful, encouraging, well-prepared, approachable, intelligent, funny, a good communicator, sensitive to student needs, and is an overall effective teacher of accounting. He not only teaches you the material, but also teaches you how to learn it and how to think about and analyze problems and difficulties. I credit my college success thus far to him.

BUS 321 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 7:40 pm, Mar 27, 2005 Report Evaluation		Keller will go over excercises with you in class the first hour, then let you do the exercises yourself the second hour while he's there to help and answer questions. He repeatedly says, and I agree, this is the best and only way to learn accounting. HARD class but take it if you're serious.

BUS 321 Sophomore Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 1:25 pm, Mar 21, 2005 Report Evaluation		Keller is great! His teaching style is pretty accurately explained in all the other evaluations. It remeinds me of high school math teachers who explain how to do the problems first, do a couple questions from the assigned homework, and then give you time the rest of the period to work on the homework. If you liek that style, this is for you! If you are serious about accounting, there is no reason why you shouldn't get an A (85%=A). 2 midterms and a final are all worth a third of your grade and all come from his excercises. If you do the exercises at least twice, and make a good cheat sheet, there is NO excuse for less than an A. Plus the first midterm, worth a third of your grade, is just a review of 214 material which you should already know! I can't believe people do so poorly, it's their own fault for not trying. I super highly recommend Keller!



BUS 214 Sophomore Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 9:12 pm, Aug 27, 2004 Report Evaluation		Wow! I find this type of teaching style to be the one for me. I only wish more teachers taught with his "learn by doing" philosophy. If you can convince yourself to spend some time daily on the exercises he provides, you will do fine in this class. He is more than willing to help you any way he can, and encourages questions during class to clarify any difficulties. I highly recommend Dr. Keller for any class you can get with him. Homework is optional (although it is required for understanding) and there are 4 mid-terms and 1 comprehensive final. Each mid-term builds on the previous stuff so you don't forget. Overall, a very rewarding and "easy" class to get an A in. Keller is a liberal grader and will help you out if you showed a good attitude and showed him you deserve a good grade.

BUS 322 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 9:15 pm, Jun 23, 2004 Report Evaluation		He is a good teacher, the style is very on your own though. don't get the book, it is a waste of money. If you dont know accounting you may have a hard time, but really, all you have to do is put the exercises on your cheat sheet and dont study...thats what I did, I got an A. his curve is 85 % and above is an A, so your stupid and should not be in this major if you cant pull that off.

BUS 463 Senior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 6:46 pm, Apr 13, 2004 Report Evaluation		This was my second class with Keller. He is the smartest accountant alive. This class will satisfy your Senior Project requirement. It was nice to take because you only met him for an hour every week and then you work in the computer lab the rest of the time. No tests just complete a research project every week. They took about 6 hours total each to complete. It wasn't too hard just make sure you have the time to spend in the computer lab each week because you'll need the databases there to get the work done.

BUS 322 Junior Grade Earned: C Required (Support) 3:59 pm, Jan 20, 2004 Report Evaluation		Dr. Keller knows every aspect of accounting; heck, he used to write exam quiestions for the CPA exam. This class is extrememly hard. Not only is the information confusing, Dr. Keller expects you to remember everything for Bus 321. The class is consisted of 2 mid-term exams and 1 final. These tests take the full 2 hours and are very hard. You are allowed to use a 2-sided, one page "cheat sheet." Be sure to type or write ALL the journal entries and problems from the exercises you do in class on this sheet. The exercises you do in class are on the exam just different numbers and opposite scenarios, but if you have all the journal entrys down--you'll do fine. Dr. Keller does not budge at all on your test grades, but he does have a HUGE curve. His lowest A is 85%, lowest B 75%, and lowest C is 65%. If you don't like accounting, steer clear of this class. It is tough!

BUS 322 Senior Grade Earned: A Elective 1:09 pm, Jan 13, 2004 Report Evaluation		Nice guy, lecutres are short, mostly exercise work in class. Learning by doing, very interesting and hard to comphrehend for some. Overall not to bad of a class, willing to improve your grade if you showed signs of improvement during the quarter, (must be significant improvement). Take him for this class its not bad, o dont worry much easier than bus 321

BUS 322 Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 4:13 pm, Jan 9, 2004 Report Evaluation		At first look Dr. Keller looks like a scary guy. But he is actually really nice and helpful and like a grandpa. I liked his class. Instead of listening to boring accounting lectures for 2 hours he talked for 15 minutes. The rest of class we work from work books that explain everything and Dr. Keller walks around the classroom and helps anyone who needs it. If you don't expect to keep yourself motivated and learn the stuff on your own don't take Keller. However, I found that by actually doing it yourself you not only learn more but you don't have to waste entire class periods listening to boring lectures and you can actually finish the assignments. Again, Keller is a great guy but you must be self motivated to take this class.



BUS 322 Senior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 3:49 pm, Dec 20, 2003 Report Evaluation		I did not learn anything from this teacher. He makes you buy a very thick packet with excercises, you have to bring it to class everyday and you sit in class for 2 hours every lecture and work on your own and raise your hand if you need help. If you are very good at teaching yourself the material he's okay to take otherwise i would not recommend him. I WISH I ACTUALLY WOULD HAVE HAD A TEACHER FOR THIS COURSE.

BUS 322 Junior Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 5:02 pm, Dec 15, 2003 Report Evaluation		It is true that Dr. Keller does not teach from the book. The first couple of weeks i had a really hard time adjusting to his teaching style. However after the first midterm it is quite clear that all you need to pass his class is to understand his exercise problems and A REALLY GOOD CHEAT SHEET. There are three midterms for the quarter, each @ 150 points. Do not be fooled with the attendance points on his syllabus, they do not count. His curve is very very generous, all you nned is 127 points and above on each midterm to maintain an A. Dr. Keller is a very very nice professor and i highly recommend him for Bus 322.

BUS 322 Senior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 12:38 pm, Dec 11, 2003 Report Evaluation		If you're the kind of student who learns best by listening to lecture and following a textbook, do NOT take Keller. That's how I learn, and he couldn't teach me unless I went to his office hours and had him explain everything two or three times. The only way you can pass his class is by either MEMORIZING everything or copying all the exercises at 25% and putting them on your cheat sheet. He says that doesn't work, but believe me it does. I took this class with him last quarter as well as this quarter. I also took 321 with him and he makes me hate accounting. At least I finally passed and I don't have any more classes to take from him.

BUS 321 Senior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 8:01 pm, Oct 21, 2003 Report Evaluation		Ahh Keller! This teacher could not get any better even if he tried. I took him a year ago and sat in his class for a week expecting him to do all the work for me. This did not happen so I took a withdrawl. I took his same class two quarters later because I had to and it was then that I realized what an asset he is. Earl Keller is an AMAZING teacher. If you are not ready to work hard and if you are not self-disciplined, do not waste his time by taking the class. But, if you go in his class with motivation and ambition to work, you will not only do wonderful but will learn SO MUCH!!

BUS 322 Senior Grade Earned: D Required (Major) 9:08 pm, Jun 24, 2003 Report Evaluation		Mr. Keller is a good teacher. His nick name "Keller the killer" is kind of true. His two midterms and final are pretty hard. Keller's learn by doing teaching style is not for everyone, but works if you copy to exercises to the cheat sheets. I would recommend him.

BUS 321 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 1:30 pm, Mar 31, 2003 Report Evaluation		Mr. Keller is a great professor. He is dedicated to making sure his students learn the material the best way possible. He is constantly updating his excercises to make them better and easier to understand. He genuinely wants all of his students to do well in the class. If you come to class every day, and study for the tests, there is no reason why you can't get an A. The excercises you do in class are almost identical to the tests (except he changes the numbers and stuff). I would definitely recommend Keller for 321.



BUS 321 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 1:30 pm, Mar 28, 2003 Report Evaluation		Awesome professor for accounting. I have taken him for 214 and 321 and I'm enrolled next quarter to take 322 with him. He gives out long exercises each session and the test questions are taken from these exercises. There are 2 midterms and a final. However the first midterm is just a review of 214. The exercises and tests are difficult but his learn by doing philosophy really is a great way to teach accounting. I would recommend him to any person wanting to concentrate in public accounting. You also get to use a page cheat sheet for the last two tests and you don't have to buy the book.

BUS 321 Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 10:04 am, Mar 20, 2003 Report Evaluation		This class is presented in such a way that he will hand out a ton of packets of work and then gives you two hours to work on them. He lectures for about 1 hour the entire quarter. I liked his way of presenting the matareial but HATE accounting. He makes himself available to students and is helpful. He also understands that not all students LOVE accounting and really tries for all students to get a good passing grade. Would reccommend him but then again I wouldn't wish accounting on my worst enemy.

BUS 212 Junior Grade Earned: B Required (Support) 10:09 pm, Mar 11, 2003 Report Evaluation		Keller's class totally rocks. Accounting for Non-Business Majors, although dull sounding, is a great skill to have. Dr. Keller did a great job of teaching this course. Class was little lecture and mostly hands on work in groups that worked well. Tests were as simple as the material practiced day to day. This class turned out to be really cool and Dr. Keller had a lot to do with it. Nice guy and like someone else said...an asset to Cal Poly. More instructors should take a page from Keller's book- this would be a much better place.

BUS 321 Senior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 2:31 pm, Feb 20, 2003 Report Evaluation		He's the best. The class may be a little difficult; he throws a lot of work at you. But what you'll take out of the class is more than worth it. I've had him for 2 classes 214 and 321. He is a must take for both. A truely A+ teacher.

BUS 321 Senior Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 7:41 pm, Jan 26, 2003 Report Evaluation		Earl Keller is the best accounting teacher. His class is taught by working through exercises and learning that way. He does a little but not much. There are two midterms and a final. The first midterm is all review of 214 and the second midterm and gets a lot harder. It is definately possible to get an A if you put in the effort. He is more than willing to help in office hours and by email. Attendance in mandatory. I would highly recommend him for any class he is teaching.

BUS 321 Junior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 5:58 pm, Jan 9, 2003 Report Evaluation		Keller is a really nice laid back guy but not a good teacher for the course. He never lectures. Everyday he hands out a packet of questions and an answer sheet and that is what you do every single day. The questions on the test are similar to the packets. However, I felt like I didn't really learn anything and was always trying to understand things by working backwards from the answers which was confusing. If you do take him don't buy the book, we didn't use it once.



BUS 321 Junior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 3:53 pm, Dec 18, 2002 Report Evaluation		Prof. Keller was great. I always hated accounting and didn't do that great in 214 but he totally made you learn the stuff in his class. He has the "learn by doing" approach down. He gives you packets every class session and you work on them in groups to help each other. He goes around and answers any questions you might have during the class session. You don't have to turn them in so it is up to you to do the work but since there is no lecture, there is nothing left to do but do the packets. At the end of the session he gives you the answers to the packets to you can check your work. He also held review sessions which were a HUGE help. If he has any of those, GO TO THEM! He will make sure you understand it. He's a really nice man and kind of goofy at times. I plan to take him for 322. If you ever get a chance to take an accounting class with him, TAKE HIM!

BUS 321 Junior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 2:44 pm, Dec 18, 2002 Report Evaluation		Complete learn by doing style. He didn't teach us a damn thing, and we never opened the book. If you can memorize things with ease this class will be a breeze. The first midterm is absolute cake, the 2nd a LOT harder (he had to curve it), and the final was damn near impossible even with a cheat sheet. This class started out soooo easy, but then took a turn for the worse. He also takes attendence, and it's a 100 points which is a big deal considering the class is out of 500. Wow was that final hard. It was probably the hardest test I've ever taken at poly.

BUS 214 Senior Grade Earned: A Required (Support) 10:23 am, Sep 23, 2002 Report Evaluation		I cannot recommend Dr. Keller enough. Very much a learn by doing type of style. He is an asset to calpoly. If you ever get the chance, take him.

BUS 214 Sophomore Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 11:59 am, Sep 12, 2002 Report Evaluation		Great professor who really understands the learn by doing philosophy of Cal Poly. He gives a quick 5 to 10 minute lecture and then passes out exercises that you complete with your group members. He also passes out solutions at the end of class so you know what you did right and wrong. The class before testsives out a practice test that is exactly like the midterm but with just different numbers. There were 4 midterms in the class and 1 final. This seems overwhleming but think of the midterms as more like quizzes. He also counts attendance so its important to show up to class but reading the book isn't all that crucial. I highly recommend Dr. Keller and I wish more teachers taught the way he did and cared aboutstudent's the way he does. Oh and he grades faily easy and lets us out about an hour early each day.

BUS 214 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 10:05 am, Aug 29, 2002 Report Evaluation		Dr. Keller is a great man with good intentions. He decided to incorporate a learn by doing approach to his class and lectured maybe a total of 30 minutes the whole quarter. We worked on assignments in class by ourselves and consulted are classmates for help. The whole class is a do it yourself on your own free time type of class, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Most of the class got A's and B's so he must have done something right.
