ME 440 5th Year Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 6:34 pm, Feb 11, 2013 Report Evaluation |
Prof. Pascual is one of the best teachers the ME department has to offer. He gives a lot of work, long HW sets etc, but doesn't collect them and provides the solutions. As with any class, its best to do the homework otherwise his tests are hard! He is also one of the most patient people I have ever met. You will do a lot of work in EES for this class, and he will take the time to sit down and debug your code. I also had him for ME 359 and ME 457. Every one of his classes was great. Take his class if you have the chance!

This man knows his stuff. He is relatively difficult because he gives you so much information, but you will learn. I would never pass up an opportunity to take a class with him.

During the first half of the quarter I found the way this class was set up to be really frustrating and thought Dr. Pascual spent way to much time throwing theory on the board (which is very very difficult to understand). There are long homework assignments every week that are ungraded but the weekly quizzes are supposed to represent the assignment. The frustrating part is when you spend hours on the HW then do poorly on the quiz. Anyway, after going to Dr. Pascual\'s office a few times I really started to warm up to him. He is literally the most helpful teacher I have ever had in office hours. His two tests are difficult but never had anything on them that we didn\'t talk about in depth and never had tricks. The final was the easiest test but covers a really broad range of topic so you still have to study a good amount. Summary: TAKE PASCUAL, from what my friends say about their teachers, he is likely the best fluids teacher there is.

Pascual is an amazing professor. First, he did have quizzes every week, however they forced you to keep up with the material, which is vital in Thermodynamics. Second, he had online extra credit each week, adding up to a total of 10 points that could go on your final exam, if you decided to take it (and it was ungraded in terms of answering correctly!). Third, he had optional study sessions for students, he really didn\'t have to do that! Do your homework, and keep up and you will do fine. He will truly teach you more than any other thermo professor will. I got a B+, and probably easily could have gotten an A if I tried a little harder. Excellent.

I got an A in the lab portion of 347, so I'm just adding to the comments of how good Pascual is. Even our presentation lab report was pretty choppy, and we got a high B on it.

Man, wish I had him for Refrigeration Principles, would have been so much easier to understand!! No ME class is easy, but by simply spending enough time workin the example problems and homework you will do fine on the tests. Labor intensive for sure, but no curve-balls.

Best Teacher Hands Down for the ME dept. Pascual knows his material and can easily explain it to you. Just go to class and do the homework, or at least try to do it and you will pass no problem.

Excellent teacher, good lectures and flexible grading system (he drops 2 out of 7 quizzes). I would gladly take another one of his classes.

ME 457 Senior Grade Earned: A Elective 3:20 pm, Jun 29, 2007 Report Evaluation |
It's simple, Pascual is the man. Possibly one of the easiest guy's to talk to, and extremely helpful during office hours. Refrigeration design overall was a pretty easy course as long as you understand thermo. Nothing tricky, very straight forward. Don't take it too lightly though because the class average will be around a 90% when it's all said and done so there is absolutely no curve. Just as long as you do the hw and build a working freezer you will get an A.

Pascual is one of the most brilliant professor and talented teacher. I actually found heat transfer to be interesting, and Pascual turned a tough subject into a more tangible and awesome one. Pascual may be a nice guy, but he forces you to work for your grade by giving substantial problems on the midterms and final. Do the homework problems, especially the ones he writes himself. Passing shouldn't be difficult, but getting that "A" might.

Dr. Pascual presents the material clearly, gets the students involved in the lecture and provides some industry background for his lectures which aids in the learning process. Most of all, I appreciated his clear objectives and organization. He provides the students with weekly homework that states the objectives for that specific material, definitions to learn and homework problems that are from the book and old exams questions. But, don't expect those old exam questions to look like the current exam questions, understand the material and processes foremost. I really enjoyed Fluid Mechanics.

Thank you Mr. Pasqual! I didn't know what the heck was going on in fluids when I took and failed the class with Locasio. You actually helped me understand the concept of fluid mechanics and I feel much more equipped to move on to future water classes. Highly recommend Pasqual.

Prof pascual is a great teacher. He is the most organized prof I have had. Fluids is a tough class that requires a lot of work. Our grade was based on two midterms and a final (which were wieghted equally) and hw (10%). The tests we similar to hw mostly supplemental problems he gives on the hw. The final was fair but long. Overall good prof

Pascual is one of the best ME professors we have. Take him if you get the chance. He is very organized and he answers all questions very well. He always has video clips and other things for to watch that pertain to the material covered. As far as the class goes, its really intersting. Good class, good teacher (but it is a lot of work). One midterm, a final, 30% lab grade. Homework is worth 10% and isn't graded on correctness.

ME 440 5th Year Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 8:31 am, Jan 6, 2005 Report Evaluation |
I really liked Pascual. He is excellent at answering student questions. He is extremely patient with students and I never felt like he was unapproachable. Even the most basic question he will answer in full without hesitation. Keep on top of the lab for this course, because you can get behind really fast, which will hurt you a lot at the end when preparing for the presentation and report. Pascual's a great teacher. His tests are straightforward. I highly recommend him

Thermal System Design is a tough class but i got a lot out of it. The lab taught me just as much as the lecture. As a suggestion, definitely stay on top of the lab schedule. The due date comes up quicker than you realize when you are trying to critique your project while at the same time write the huge lab report. Overall, Pascual's grading system is very fair and his test are fairly straight forward. I definitely would suggest hime for ANY class he teaches.

ME 344 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 2:12 pm, Oct 4, 2004 Report Evaluation |
Pascual's class was very fair. The tests were straightforward, but hard. If you put in the effort, you got a good grade. The research paper really made the course for me because you're able to choose a topic that interests you, and when you're done with it, you feel like you solved a real world problem.

ME 344 Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 12:25 pm, Sep 13, 2004 Report Evaluation |
This was Pascual's first time teaching ME344 and I think he did a fine job. He has a great amount of real-life experince working on the submarines and in-class experince teaching related classes. His grading system has always seemed very fair, its upfront and no curve so you know what to expect. For this class he divided it as: 30% midterm, 30% final, 30% research paper, and 10% homework. The research paper was a good experience and graded somewhat loosely which helped for the more difficult tests. I would take him again.

Definitely a fun class to take, you get to build your own working refrigerator (even though you don't get to keep it). The lab part of the class helps you understand the refrigeration process and thermodynamics in general. Prof Pascual teaches very well and grades very fairly. Both midterms and final are equally graded which i like. And lab is also a large part of your grade which is graded very generously. Great Tech Elective to take.

ME 341 Junior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 7:50 pm, Mar 31, 2004 Report Evaluation |
Pascual was a pretty organized instructor for the most part. ME 341 is a pretty tough course and most of the teachers for the class blow pretty hard (Kamalu, Locascio, Carpenter, Gordon). Pascual might be the exception to this line of crappy instructors. His lectures were pretty clear and involved several helpful examples in addition to a good amount of needless theory. While his lectures were organized, they were a little dull which was probably due to the fact that I had him from 6-7pm. It was hard for me to focus during this hour and I think Pascual had the same problem. I really had some pet peeves when it came to Pascual's tests. On Exam I, Pascual said we had 50 minutes for the exam. 6:55 came and he said that we had 5 more minutes for the exam. People started to leave as is normal in a midterm situation. However, Pasucal didn't offically call time until 7:15, giving many students a HUGE advantage over those who left just before 7 thinking that time was about up. I stayed but would have paced the exam a lot differently had I known that I had more time. The exam was, in my opinion, longer than a 50 minute exam. On Exam 2, there was a figure that was not properly labeled(dimension lines were not drawn correctly on the figure) which cost me a good deal of time trying to figure it out during the test. No one asked him about it during the exam, but apperntly a number of students also misread the figure. Pascual gave the whole class until 15 after and announced it at the beginning of the exam like he should have for exam I. The final didn't involve too many tricks wasn't a time crunch(probably why the avg went up considerably when comapred to the midterms). Pasucal was pretty helpful in office hours and I got most of my questions (difficult ones) answered fairly quickly. He will question what you know and make you think so that you can answer your own questions which helps in understanding. I'd take him again if I had to, but he is pretty tough and will work you hard.

Prof Pascual made me feel like ME classes arent impossible. He REALLY knows his stuff and has no problems going over things again until you understand it. His Exams were fair and he tells you what to expect on them. No curveballs, he tests you on what he feels you should know. Which is stuff he blatently tells you will be "test material." Take him. He is a nice guy, very intelligent, very understanding, very good teacher.

Before I took this class all I heard was how much I was gonna hate fluids. After taking it with Chris, I now think that I want to focus on water. Everything that the people below have said is true. He's a fair grader, there are no curveballs on any of the tests, and he does want everyone to do well. And the extra study session is a huge help! He's very approachable and is very friendly. You have to study to do really well in the class, but he makes it so that it isn't that bad. If you want to learn the class material then you really take this guy!

This is a very interesting class and Dr. Pascual really enjoys the subject. His lectures are very clear, and lab assignments help with understanding the material. He is very willing to help whenever you have any problems. His tests are slightly long, but very fair. Dr. Pascual is very generous with partial credit, just make sure you write something down and he'll try to give you some points. Basically as everyon else has said....he's one of the best, take any class you can with him.

ME 341 Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 8:08 pm, May 6, 2002 Report Evaluation |
Dr. Pascal was a superb teacher. He was very clear and easy to understand. He gave plenty of example problems in class, and was always willing to dumb it down to however easy you needed it to be. He is one of the kindest professors I have ever talked to outside of class. He is cheerful, and always willing to help whenever he can. My only caution is that (from what I have heard from others) he is hard. I had no problems with him, however; he made me actually *enjoy* taking Fluids. Studious geeks (like me) won't have any problem getting through his class. I would fully recommend him to anyone!

ME 440 Senior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 10:53 am, Apr 23, 2002 Report Evaluation |
I enjoyed Pascuals 440 class. I failed the same class with Maddren due to my own slacking, but found Pascaul's teaching style more entertaining. He keeps you awake in class and was easy to learn from. He is super smart in the subject matter, so bullshitting him on labs will be a big mistake. The lab is competitive with only a single two-person group getting the "A" for the final project. He is approachable and helpful in office hours. He ranks in my top three ME professors with Davol and Mello.

ME 341 Senior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 10:13 am, Apr 3, 2002 Report Evaluation |
Excellent lectures and reasonable expectations of his students. Unlike most proffessors at Poly, this instructor will not surprise you on a test. If you know the concepts in the homework and the material covered in class, the tests will be predictable. The only reason I got a C instead of an A or a B is because I had a very bad test day for the first test. Best of all, he wants you to succeed and understand the material enough to recognize the need for more lecture time and hosts an extra class hour a week on his own time just for students to bring in questions and problems. Go to this lecture! He uses old test problems for examples in these lectures. If you want to see what was on previous tests, go to these lectures.

Dr. Pascual is an excellent mechanical engineering professor. He is extremely organized in class lecture, and he shows his willingness for the class to succeed by holding a problem session outside of class one night a week. It was really helpful with the homework and tests. Be prepared to work in his class, he challenges you and makes you think. Plus he's not a boring old guy so you'll definitely stay awake in class!

Dr. Pascual is truly a great professor. He is very friendly and aproachable and always wants to help. The subject material in fluids is intense with lots of derivations, and there is a lot of material covered in the class. It's no cakewalk, but Pascual is the best man to do it. The exams are completely based on the homework and always doable. They will make you think for sure as Pascual really tests your ability to analyze problems. His homework policy is what I think homework should ideally be. It is only worth 10%, and solutions are always posted (about 6-8 problems per week). Also as long as you just attempt each homework problem, you will receive full credit. You get what you put into it. So homework is truly a learning opportunity for the students, not a busy-work chore to do so you don't get docked on your grade. The lectures seemed to go by within a blink of an eye. Before you knew it the hour was over due to his highly organized notes. Also what was EXTREMELY helpful were problem sessions that he held outside of class once a week. He would go over a couple additional problems and then answer any HW questions. He knows that this class moves fast and there really isn't much time to 'review' during class time so he holds these review sessions. If you ever have an opportunity to take Dr. Pascual, do it! You WILL know the material after the class.
