EDUC 300 5th Year Senior Grade Earned: Credit Required (Major) 11:33 am, Aug 7, 2003 Report Evaluation |
Mary is a nice person, but a horrible teacher. In all the years I have been at Poly, and school in general, I can honestly say that she is the worst teacher I have ever had in my LIFE. Mary completely lacks any classroom organizational skills, her instructions are difficult/impossible to understand (even to her), she insists on filling up every minute of the class, even if she can't find anything worthwhile or meaningful to do with it. As other reviews here have said, the class is incredibly easy, just do the homework 10 mins before class and do all your observation hours. I decided to go on and get my credential, but I know several people who chose not too simply because of Mary. If the education department is serious about retaining a larger percentage of students they would be well advised to ditch Mary... My advice if you take this class from her is don't let her determine your future, it's only one class and once you pass it you won't have to deal with her again.

EDUC 300 Senior Grade Earned: Credit General Ed 5:39 pm, Nov 14, 2002 Report Evaluation |
AHHHHH, I hated that class. I do not want to become a teacher. Not anymore. Mary turned me off as well these women , you know the ones that think the world is pink and that there are only good white little Christian children out there. AH, don't we live in a perfect world? Wake up!!!! You have to spend 32 hours observing a classroom. That is quite a commitment for a credit/no credit class. The weekly assignment are useless. The reading material was boring. If you can avoid this boring/useless class and it's bossy leader, do so.

EDUC 300 Junior Grade Earned: Credit Required (Major) 7:11 pm, May 8, 2002 Report Evaluation |
Mary is full administrator for the local school district, and teaches this one class.(as a hobby?)Has licorice for everybody each class period. Knows a lot, but don't disagree with her, it 's her way or else. The hours spent observing in the classroom are quite good, but her class is quite boring. I decided not to become a teacher because her, if you have to work with people like her for $34000/year, forget it, it's something else for me!

EDUC 300 Senior Grade Earned: Credit Required (Major) 10:18 pm, Mar 18, 2002 Report Evaluation |
Professor is out of touch with students' needs in the classroom. She treats people with little respect and tends to be a very "in yo' face" type of person. She is insulting, and seems to pull power trips in class. It is very unfortunate that the EDUC dept has not pulled her from their ranks. If you have the oppertunity to take another proff, please do so.

If you are taking EDUC 300, prepare to be bored out of your mind. Mrs. Matakovich insists on using every last minute of class time even though she is clearly out of material to present. Se will ask you to present chapters from the book, which really only focuses on how you feel about the teaching profession. Most students have expressed thier frustration with the lack of material already. Matakovich is an administrator by career for SLO schools. She seems to take her job too seriously, and you will notice that you WILL be treated like a sixth grader for the duration of the quarter. No tests, and homework can be completed 10 min before class. She is generally abrasive if you have ideas that differ from hers. Unfortunately, you can't avoid her. She's all the EDUC department has for this class. Muuuuaaa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
