I actually lied. I am not a grad student, at least not anymore. I graduated from Cal Poly in 92. I am still suffering the emotional, and physical scars of Dick's lectures. I am happy to say I am in a better place now. I left architecture, and currently kustom paint bikes for Billy Lane's Choppers Inc, and Guitars for Jackson/Fender. If it was not for Dick's lectures, I might be stuck in a cubicle somewhere, designing ugly buildings. (At least that is what Prof. Denel called them,....) Thanks Dick. I owe it all to you.

DICK is a HARD teacher. His lectures are really LONG. Make sure not to rub him the wrong way.

Crap. EDES 101 is quite possibly the most boring thing you will ever encounter, or at least one would hope so. I dont know who deserves the blame for this course, I dont know if its Dick's fault or not, because I dont think there is anything useful for him to teach anyway. The class is a long downward spiral, getting worse and worse, until it is finally over. There are guest speakers who basically come in a brag about themselves/their companies. I think CAED really needs to find an alternative for this class, because it is an embarresment to Cal Poly. Whatever you do, dont fail this class. Just jump through the hoops, go through the motions, and pull the strings.

Ok, quick, ask me what I learned this quarter. NOTHING!!! This was the most useless class I have ever sat through. I seriously wonder whose idea it was to make it a requirement. WASTE OF TIME. I don't have much against Dr. Zweifel personally. He seems like a nice guy. But he is SOOOO boring. And so were most the guest lecturers. It was supposed to be a 500 person lecture, but my guess is the average attendance was around 150. Sorry to say, to graduate from the CAED you must take this class. Not getting around it. Luckily it is easy, skippable, and a Credit/No credit class. Have Fun!!!

Ohh my gosh Edes 101 is the most boring class. It makes me wonder why it is required for my major. But he gives some homework assignments that kind of blow. But it's cool that I get to see from the homework what I'm getting myself into. But holy balls the class is rediculously boring. And it won't hurt to miss some classes.

Besides the fact that Dick Zweifel is boring, there is the problem that this class is totally useless, and filled with lame projects (as if we don't have enough in CAED), and it sucks spending a weekend morning at polycanyon. Zweiffel and his CAED admin crony Dick Harms manage only to make a bad class as boring and useless as it possibly can be. Take my advice and show up occassionally and do your assignments. Anyone that has to repeat this course is hurtin'.

Dick Zweifel? Who's that? I was so asleep that I didn't even know that I was in class. I just remember waking up, grabing my pillow and walking across the street to the theater. An hour later I was walking back across and crawling back into bed. Here's how to pass EDES: Go to class (or don't), take the tests (get a copy of the notes from someone who actually takes them), do the assignments (hardest part is motivation) and then go to sleep.

Dr. Zweifel is the better half of the dean duo that teaches this class. He only ran the lecture a couple of times, but I didn't fall asleep nearly as fast as when Dr. Harms was running the lecture. Do the work and try not to miss too many classes and you should pass easily. Good luck in EDES 101; you don't want to take this class twice!

If you are reading this, it is already too late. If you are in the class (required of CAED) then deal with it. It is a bad class, and not always interesting, but it gets you that much closer to the end of school. Zwiefel could be worse. He is a decent guy. However, the class sucks. Sleep if you feel like it. They probably won't call you at the attendance, which is rare in itself.

You might have to take this class, but it is very easy. Once he called names for attendance purposes. And my name was called and I had to go to the front of the theater. You think it will never happen to you, but it happened to me. Just suck it up through the class, it really isn't that bad.

If you are the CAED, you must take this course. It sucks, but it's a must. My advice is don't have to retake the class like me. Make sure that you understand the rules of the class, and do everything that is asked. Also, there is a final, so pay attention every now and then so that you are prepared for some of it. If you go to class the majority of the time, then you can miss the last few days. Do everything though, because you do not want to take this class over. (Zweifel is very boring, but stick it out).

Zweifel wasn't all that great, but he was definately the lesser of two evils. Everything said above is true, and more! Want the full story? Check out the reviews for Dean Harms... (enter ominous sounding music here)

This was the MOST BORING class I've ever taken. I wouldn't even call it a class, you show up, sleep, while Dick talks on and on about things relating to the CAED that we'll actually learn later when we care. Sorry, if you're reading this, there's no one else you can take!

I am a tall blonde with blue eyes and tan skin. I like writing pointless papers about my favorite place, spending my Saturdays working in Poly Canyon as an indentured servant, and spending my free time in an upper-division lab. If you have similar interests, please meet me in EDES 101 at 8 in the morning. Bring a pillow and we'll snuggle while Dick Zweifel drones on, trying to give away bogus prizes to his imaginary friends. I am glad to be done with this class and feel sorry for all you poor students who have to sit through a whole quarter of nothing but pure boredom. One suggestion: find a friend who will swap days with you. You go one day and she/he goes the next. The odds of Zweifel calling both your names are very slim.
