Dr. Rogers is very nice and helpful, but needs to be a little more flexible. I am in the Adult Education program, which is a different kind of student, and I think she needs to understand that a bit better. I took her for IS 302 which is not an option to pick on polyratings. It is required for a degree in interdisciplinary studies. Her requirements are too rigid, in my humble opinion.

The most boring class you will ever take. It is supposed to get you started thinking about a thesis topic, but is more pain than it is worth. However, it is required so what're you gonna do. Anyway, Dr. Rogers is not a bad instructor; more like the class is just worthless. The assignments she creates are tedious and annoying. Just take it, do what she says and get an A. And please prepare for your presentation at the end of the quarter to keep people entertained.

Professor Rogers is one the best professors in the CSC department, period. She has a friendly demeanor and engages students in the topics at hand. Perhaps some of the other evaluations from other lower division students had a different experience because it was an intro/freshman level csc course, but all of the classes I've had with Professor Rogers have been outstanding. The (upper division) courses are very team-focused and more free-form than some of the other classes taught by other (boring/tired) instructors

I am suprised at the low rating Dr. Rogers currently have. I found her lectures to be insightful and well prepared. Dr. Rogers is always willing to help students out and sincerely cares about the material is teaching. If you get a chance to take this or any class from her, please do.

the truth is cpe 101 is a very tough class if you dont already know how to program, and the grades reflect that... rogers is one of the better teachers for this course, she is more than willing to help you, she is very approachable, and really likes to teach, she comes to class excited about java (as funny as that sounds, its true) she is extremely fair, she takes time to learn the the entire class's name, which shows how much she really cares about the students.. in all honesty i think rogers is the best teacher out there for cpe 101, most of the other teachers are horrible, and i hear horror stories from other people in my dorm about sheftic and company i suggest you take rogers for the class..

She is very excited about the subject matter, but sometimes does not quite get the main point across. The best advice I can give is to do ALL of the reading and do the labs. Many of the questions on the quizes and midterm came from the labs. The homework involved is reading, finishing the labs, and programming assignments (we wrote 5 programs). The programs started out easy then became more and more difficult (and worth more points). From what I hear, Rogers is better than many of the other teachers for this course, but it's just a hard course all around.

SHe is a good teacher for this class. She really cares about the students. Labs are worth nothing. The quiz is as hard or harder than the midterms. Study for it. Labs take up the most time too. Way more than they are worth.

Dr. Rogers was a pretty good cpe101 teacher, but since this is only my first year here, I really don't have anyone else to compare her to. I thought that her test were on the difficult side, but they were not unfair. If you do the readings and really make and effort to learn the material, you will do fine. Her office hours are a really big help, she is always willing to help her students. The programming assignments she assigns are usually pretty easy and she gives you way more time then is really needed to get it finished. I would suggest you hook up with a few other students in class and study together and help each other out on the programming assignments. This is one of the classes that working solo is difficult.

Dr. Rogers is a horrible teacher. She didn't present the material well and couldn't answer students questions in class. The only students who recieved A's in her class were students who already knew how to write computer programs. If you need to take CSC 101 and you don't have any previous experience with programming, you should find a better teacher.

As other students said, this professor is really bad. She didnt explain clearly what she wanted you to do in your assignments, quizes, etc. She spent most of the lectures with the tons of terminology that didnt appear to be very important at all. Not only that, even on the exam/quiz problems she also gave lots of concept questions that we should not really memorize those. Csc101's not a history class or geography class. She is not like some csc101 teachers that give more practical problems on the tests. This is what I hate from Dr.Rogers. She expects you too much on everything (test, assignments like decorating comments with square boxes)but she didnt give you enough information as inputs for the students. Come on! why in the world we should put big rectangle boxes on every comments. She likes intimidating you in the class so you would feel afraid of her. Well, I suggest not to feel embarassed because not only you feel that. If you come to her office hours, she will act little bit different. One thing you gotta remember from this teacher. If you got a bad grade on the couple first quiz, you would get the same grade till the end of the quarter. Because she always assume that you didnt study. But if she likes certain students on her class, she would give those students good grade, no matter what.

She is a good lecturer and a nice person. She encourages heavy class discussion. There is one HUGE term project (creating a web page for a real organization) and a bunch of small labs. The class is fun, but one of her problems is that she doesn't always make clear exactly what it is she wants in the hand-ins and then docks you for that.

Firstly, let me point out that Professor Rogers is a very nice professor, and she always seemed more than willing to help students out with their individual problems. However, it seemed like much of the lecture time was spent on what seemed to be concepts that didn't appear to be very important at all. Towards the end of the class, she graded extremely heavily on comments, something which seems odd, considering it's a 101 class, and most of the class barely understood what their code did when they copied it out of the book, much less know enough to intelligibly write comments about what it does. The whole class did rather poorly on the midterms, and she was never really clear on whether or not she'd curve the grade at the end of the course. In fact, I'm still not sure if she ever curved it. I don't think she did. The programming in the course was easy enough though, so if you plan on taking her course, just pay attention to her lectures on memory, and you'll do fine. It seemed like most of the class tests were on memory, and she spends so much time on it, that pretty soon it becomes hard not to understand it.

I hope there are better CPE teachers out there!! Rogers was horrible! The midterms and quizzes are impossible to finish in the amount of time that she gives you and they are incredibly hard. She wastes a lot of time in class making analogies to the stuff we're suppose to be learning. She does not talk about the programming assignments until the day before it is due. And worse of all, she makes you feel really dumb in class when you give a wrong answer. A lot of people in my class were afaid to answer just because she will lower your self-confidence. One time she told a girl, and i quote, "You guys are in college now, you need to use your common sence." What, we're in college??? thanks for reminding me!

I really liked Dr. Rogers. She was easy to talk to and very friendly. I was really stressed in this class, it was pretty hard, but I guess there was a curve. LISP can take a while to get used to but once you do, the programs are a lot easier. The material is definately interesting despite the language. Rogers really enjoys the material and it is obvious in her teaching style.

didn't seem to know the material very well herself, so was very unclear; when all but two people in the class got a D or F on a quiz, she assumed we didn't study; she didn't even consider the possibility that maybe she hadn't explained the material very well; she was a little better at explaining one-on-one during office hours; quizzes and tests are worth the most points by far; the lab assignments are worth almost nothing, even though most people spent the most time on them; I think she curved the midterm and final exams, but not much
