EHS 230 Graduate Student Grade Earned: A Required (Support) 11:21 am, Jun 8, 2011 Report Evaluation |
Seriously...one of the absolute best professors anywhere. Very funny, helpful, caring, knowledgeable. Makes class and subject very interesting and fun. He keep threatening to retire (and drink mai tai's on the beach in Hawaii), so you better take this class soon. It will be a bright spot in your college career. Cal Poly will lose a damn good human being when he leaves.

Dan is an absolute stud. He treats everyone like his favorite niece or nephew. Always one for a laugh and has a quick and witty humor. His grading system is odd...BUT, it is fair. it takes a 94% to get an A but honestly the class is so easy and he teaches it so well if you got below that you dont deserve it. The one test to make sure you do well on is the twig identification.

Dan is the absolute man. He genuinely cares about his students and their success. His class is not too hard but you must put in some time if you want to do well on the tests and quizzes. His old fashioned humor is endearing and his positivity is felt by everyone. TAKE DAN if you can.

What can you say about Dan? Wise, Quirky, Hilarious all fit! He knows what he is talking about and he makes his subject very interesting. His tests are not to difficult, if you devote a little studying. Really study hard for your tree I.D test because its like 15%-20% of your grade. I enjoyed him because not only does he teach you to do well on your tests he also teaches stuff not on the test just so you can learn. The labs get out almost an hour and a half early every time, Although you\'re not exactly graded on what you do there it\'s worth going to see what Dan will do next!

Dan is one of my most favorite professors on campus. He really cares about his students and he loves to teach. Make sure to take notes as he tells you in lecture what is EXACTLY on the test. He\'ll tell you \"This is a good text question\", that means it WILL be on the test. Great thing is that once you\'ve been tested on the material you will not be tested on it again, its over and done with. Did not need to take the final either because I had a solid A in the class.

DAN IS THE MAN. Funny, passionate about his work, great with students and with office hours. I missed quizzes and he let me make them up in his office hours with no penalty. GO TO EVERY LECTURE and you'll get an A. I had him for both lecture and lab, make sure to pay attention during lab and the handouts. He had so many funny remarks that made you think plants are the best thing in the world. Very enjoyable and I learned so much. I wish I could take this class again!

where should i start... how about at the beginning when Dan, that's what he tells you to call him, not Mr. Lassanske, not Professor... JUST DAN! I have to say, if you don't take Dan's class, YOU ARE A FRIGGIN RETARD!! BEST CLASS BY FAR! Dan loves what he does, cares about his students, and makes class interesting... even for those students that he likes to call "Juvenile Delinquents." He loves to call students "kids" and if you ask him to, he will bring in his spinning top collection, and show off his mad top spinning skills including some pretty awesome tricks... GO TO EVERY CLASS AND TAKE THE FINAL AND YOU GET AN A... GUARANTEED!!! Like I said... BEST CLASS EVER!!! did I mention that it's the BEST CLASS EVER! oh, I almost forgot... IT'S THE BEST CLASS EVER!!! GET MY DRIFT! TAKE DAN OR YOUR CAL POLY EXPERIENCE IS A WASTE OF TIME!!!

As everyone else has said, Dan Lassanske is an excellent teacher who cares dearly about his students, plants, and Cal Poly Horticulture. His tests are very fair and he trys to get to know all of his students. He's always available to chat about the course, Cal Poly, or life in general. If you ever have a chance to take a course with him, don't hesitate.

TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dan is an amazing teacher who loves to teach and see his students succeed. He explains things VERY clearly and will show you physical examples of everything. Lab isn't that bad because Dan makes it fun and interesting. The tests are very easy if you study twenty min and have gone to class at least most of the time. Tests are identical to your notes, so study those and you are fine! He is really one of the sweetest teachers I have ever met. His sense of humor and fun character really make the class enjoyable! Everyone gets A's and B's, unless you really slack off. He never tries to trick you on tests either, everything is always straight forward. If you ever need help, he is right there to help you succeed! You would be really really stupid not to take this class and this teacher! You learn so much valuable lifelong skills. I learned more from Dan than I learned in any other class! This is stuff you will use forever! So again, TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dan is an excellent professor! He has an amazing way of brining his class material to life. He truly has a passion for teaching and making sure his students are reaching their full potential. He does an amazing job of presenting his class material to where you will fully comprehend the concept he is lecturing on! His grading standard is a little higher than most but if you don't do well in his class it is you own fault because he does more than enough on his part to provide you with the material in a very clear manner. I would recomend Professor Lassanske to anyone who likes to to see a good teacher in action. You will come out a better person with some very practical horticulture knowledge.

Dan is a great guy. His class was fun and entertaining and I learned a lot from his class. But his grading system is wack. I got an 83% in his class, but you have to have an 84% to get a B in his class. His grading system is not fair at all. Some of the test for his class are easy, and some are very difficult. At the end of the quarter, he told me grade, and he told me that i didn't have to take the final because it wouldn't help me at all. So i didn't take the final, but i found out that if you did go take the final, you got to pick your grade. TOTALLY UNFAIR!!! Dan is great guy, but now I think the opposite.

Dan was the nicest teacher. The class is easy, it only takes a little memorization (which is easy because you understand it so well during class) and the tests are mostly fill-in. The lab was fun and always fairly relaxing. You'd be surprised to found out how many opportunities there are in horticulture!

Dan is a great instructor who knows a lot about plants. If you enjoy gardening even a little bit, this class is so much fun. The class is informative and he tells you EXACTLY what is on each test; all it takes is a little memorization. You will get dirty in lab, but have fun doing it. This class fulfills the F2 requirement and was one of my favorite classes at Cal Poly.
