He knows what hes talking about, but he forgets if he taught it to you or not and then puts random shit on the tests. It was bad. He had like 6 or 7 quizes thoughout the quorter and i got an average of 12 out of 20. They were so hard!!! The only way to get a good grade on the midterms was to go to lab and ask him all of the questions in the lab manual practice problems. You might think you know the anser, but you dont. He will tell you something totaly different. But the cool thing was that his C's go all the way down to 60%. So everyone gets a c.

Overall Kubinski was a good professor. His class wasn't too bad and didn't require too much work. Just keep up and know the material confidently and you should do well.

Dr. K is a good professor. He has 2 midterms and a final--but u can choose to not take the final. His quizzes are easy if u study, the midterms are a bit long but u have the whole lab period. The class is very informative about the process of food making and different food porne pathogens. It is a walk in the park!!!!

his lectures are all over the place. his test questions make no sense and are difficult to follow, especially if you overthink things like I tend to do. he usually has to add 7-10 points to the test scores for anyone to get an A on them. often chooses to tell rambling stories rather than lecture. overall, the class is really easy, but damn is it dull. take MCRO 224 instead.

It doesn't matter whether or not you like this guy, because you're stuck with him anyway since he's the only one that teaches Food Micro. The class consists of 2 midterms, approx. 6 quizzes, and a final. You can one of those three... for example, if you do well on your midterms and quizzes, you don't have to take the final. Or, if you do well on quizzes but bomb the midterms, you can take the final to replace the total grade of the midterms. But be careful, if you do worse on the final, you have to keep that grade. It really helps if you suck up to him. His grading can be somewhat subjective.. if you likes you, you can improve up to a whole letter grade. Too bad it works the other way around too.

Kubinski wasn't a bad lecturer but his test were the worst. He would ask questions using double negatives which made it confusing and then he would just add on 5-10 points to every grade because everyone did so horrible. I learned most of the stuff in Lab and not much from lecture.

Dr. K is a really chill guy. He's funny in lecture and he tells you on the first day that the tests are all directly off lecture, so you don't need to buy the expensive hardback text (which I didn't). If you take decent notes and study them for an hour or two before the midterms and final, you'll get a decent score. I'd definitely recommend him! Oh yeah, and no pop quizzes...just the midterms, final, and lab grade.

Dr. K is a nice guy and explains theings in lecture fairly well. The material is boring if you're not a ag major or something who actually cares about how food that involves microbes is made. I think he's the only one who teaches that course, so you're pretty much stuck with him. Fortunately, he's not bad. Two midterms (not multiple choice), pop quizzes and a final. You get to drop either a midterm, the quizzes or skip the final. BUT if you take the final and get a lower grade, too bad, you're stuck with it. Lab is super easy, you're always out in an hour and a half, sometimes as little as thirty minutes. You take the midterms in lab. I had the lecture at 8am, and it was hard to always wake up for it. He's a morning person though, just FYI. The stories he reads you about foodborne infectious disease outbreaks are not important, they never showed up on the tests and maybe one quesiton on the quizzes.

Kubinski is an average teacher. He knows his stuff well and tries to make it interesting for us, even at 7. He's very excited about the material and it shows. Though lab is where most of the long hours of studying come in, if you show up to class and take notes you'll do fine in lecture. Any examples he talks about will be on the test and can usually be found in the text if you need more help. Ask your friends if they have taken him. He tends to ask many of the same questions from previous quarters. For the final, definitely review your old tests! Good Luck.

kubinski is, overall, a decent teacher. i learned a lot in this class, but i do agree (with the other eval) that most of what i learned was from lab. his tests aren't too hard if you study for them. it is important to know details and EXAMPLES. be sure to go to class every day and take notes. textbook can act as a supplement, but he goes over everything you need to know for the test in lecture. two midterms and a cumulative final. final is worth the same amount of points as the midterms. included in the test are 'diseases of the week'. he gives you three diseases each week, and he askes you to find four things about them: what kind of organism causes it, what is the name of that organism, how is it transmitted, and is there a vaccine. focus on how it's transmitted. do NOT even bother with the name of the organism--he never tests on that. good luck.

This class was horrible. Anything I learned about MCRO I had to learn in lab. His lectures were unorganized and if you went to his office hours, he wasnt really helpful; he never answered a question directly. He doesnt give study guides and his tests are completely random. I showed up to every class (which was at 7am), took notes and everything, but I barely passed. I refused to buy the book and I honestly dont think my grade would have been much better if I had. If you really want it as a reference split the cost w/ another person or two because you wont use it. Pay attention and ask a lot of questions in lab and that will help.

Dr. Kubinski starts the class by joking that he failed food micro. After taking the class I beleive him. He doesn't understand the subject and therefore can't teach it or test it. Your only hope to do well in the class is to be a cute girl who's willing to flirt with him a little.

Kubinski is without question my least favorite teacher I have had at cal poly. He is pretty good at teaching the material and is a fair grader... it's his attitude and personality that suck. He is quite a charming man in lecture, but he can be a total creep, and he absolutely will be, if he doesn't like you. He is really into the hot girls in the class, however, and would defiantly rather be perusing with them rather than helping you. If you are fat, ugly, or a man you simply do not fit into his primary objective. I really mean this; I

Dr. Kubinski was a really cool guy. I never really studied for his quizzes, but I think that if you did study they would be pretty easy. He wants to help you learn the stuff and explains everything in a clear manner. I had him for lab and we almost always got out at least an hour and a half early. He was a good teacher.

The man is brilliant. His genious is unmatched in many circles of intelligence. His ability to foresee a student's needs and to adjust his style accordingly is a well-appreciated characteristic. You will enter his class knowing nothing, but leave with everything. No question goes unanswered while fair and judicious testing is law. Homework is concise, requiring book knowledge as well as class involvement. You would be remiss if you didn't take Dr. Kubinski for BACT 221. Now go forth and learn.

Dr. Kubinski is a great professor. He takes time to learn the students names and gets to know them. His labs are straight forward and we often get out early. The tests are the only problem. They are three hours long and challenging to say the least. Study and you will do fine in this course.
