Wally is the coolest professor in the NR department. He gets to know students on a first name basis and makes attending class not so painful. The material is difficult but he provides a lot of information and is very good at answering questions and helping. Start memorizing the glossary terms early on pay attention in lecture because the cumulative final is all scenario questions and asks for your opinion. Overall a fun course and I'd recommend taking Wally for anything you can

awesome teacher, advisor, and friend. clear expectations, no favorites, understanding, hilarious, fair examinations, and one of the few semi-retired NRM staff that hasn't lost his marbles or sense of humor.

There\'s not much to this course - he just goes over the power points for the different plant species to study and he points out helpful identifying tips that aren\'t included on the power point. Wally was helpful, though, because he told you what was going to be on the test and what the format was going to be. A lot of the work is individual study. One cool thing about this class though (when dr. mark teaches, anyway) is that he does not expect you to study the common names of the species or of the family. I thought Wally was a great teacher because he had realistic expectations and tried to help you as much as possible. He usually stays after class to allow people to look at the plants and helps answer questions. Again, there is a lot of memorization expected from this class, but Wally was a great teacher.
