MATH 141 Freshman Grade Earned: B Required (Support) 2:51 am, Feb 23, 2013 Report Evaluation |
Professor Schinck is a good math professor, she lectures in a way that presents the material well and is a nice person too. Her tests are really easy if you understand the basic concepts of the class, quiz questions were a little tougher in my opinion, and you can turn in homework a day late for only one letter grade drop. I would recommend her for Calc 1.

MATH 141 Freshman Grade Earned: D Required (Major) 6:30 pm, Jan 7, 2013 Report Evaluation |
I worked so hard for this class, but it didnt help at all. I got A's in all my other classes, and a D+ in Schinck's class, and was NOT from being lazy, it was because of her INABILITY to teach. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She knows math, but she does NOT know how to present information clearly, let alone help students in need. I was in her office hours every week for 4 weeks straight looking for help. She teachers her class as if you have already taken Calc 1 before, which I hadn't. Even the kids who did AP calc in high school struggled with low C's barely making it into calc 2. I am re-taking Calc 1 because of Schinck and i got in with Anton Kaul who is an AMAZING teacher. Already I can tell that he knows his stuff, and especially how to teach it. DO NOT TAKE SCHINCK'S CLASS.

MATH 141 Junior Grade Earned: D General Ed 9:56 am, Dec 10, 2012 Report Evaluation |
I am a good student who rarely gets below a B, but this class destroyed me. Dr. Schinck does not teach the material in a useful manner, I learned what I did from my Engineer friends. She does not recognize when students are having a problem, which was an issue for me as I struggled day after day to comprehend her lectures. She tests on things that are not in lecture or the homework. I would not recommend her at all.

Avoid her at all costs. Be prepared to teach yourself the whole quarter. You are tested on material not covered in class or in the homework. Don't expect class to be any help and office hours are abysmal. It wouldn't be that bad as it is only 141 except she pulls the most arbitrary examples out of the book to use. The book and the Internet are your friend.

MATH 227 Sophomore Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 6:59 pm, Mar 22, 2010 Report Evaluation |
She has two midterms and a comprehensive final. She has both math bookwork for homework and written assignments for homework. She seems nice but is not very helpful. I did not feel like time was used very efficiently because little was done in each class. Most of the time she allowed group work which resulted in most groups talking about anything except for math. She does not post grades so if you want to know your grade YOU HAVE to go into her office hours. She uses blackboard but does not use the grading portion of it. She claims to have no attendance policy.
