Dr. Eller is awesome and passionate about his job as a PR professional and a professor! I had him for all of my beginning PR courses and knew I wanted to work on my senior project with him as my advisor. He was extremely approachable and helpful in guiding me through the entire JOUR 460 process, explaining every element of every chapter in this seemingly overwhelming project. The weekly meetings he suggested we set up helped me feel less stressed and kept my project on track at a very reasonable and manageable pace. I was absolutely satisfied with the process as well as the end result of my project, and I have Dr. Eller to thank for it!

Dr. Eller is one of my favorite professors at Cal Poly. He is genuine, fair, understanding, funny, and passionate about what he does. I have had him as a professor for both JOUR 312 and 342, and loved both of his classes. He delivers the information that is important and really wants his students to understand the main topics and points. He doesn't bother with information that isn't important or boring and he has lots of experience in the PR field. Eller's tests are straight-forward and verbatim of his study guides... in hopes that you will grasp the main concepts important to PR. He REALLY wants his students to succeed and will extend the deadlines of the group projects if you just ask and explain yourself. He rather students produce quality then just rush to get things done. Also, he cuts class short on beautiful days and lets you work at your own discretion. TAKE DR. ELLER... you will not regret it. Great guy, great classes. Makes you love PR and learn alot!

I had Dr. Eller for almost all of my public relations classes. He is definitely a good teacher and makes sure students do well. His classes are really what you make out of them though. Sure, you could slide by with a good grade, but you if you put in the effort, you have the opportunity to really learn a lot and build a nice PR portfolio. My advice is to pick a good group to work with, smaller groups can actually be better sometimes. Also, pick a client who you are actually interested in. I personally recommend on campus clients, and there are plenty.

Dr. Eller is the cutest old man ever! His class isn't very interesting, but he makes the material easy to learn and is very clear about what he expects from you. The class is based on a group project, 4 exams and multiple quizzes. He provides templates for the project and study guides for the exams, so if you follow those you will do well.

Eller is the man. His lectures are boring and he gives you a quiz after each. However, he tells you word for word whats going to be on the quiz and let's you study. There's three exams (25 multiple choice questions) and a final (all not cumulative) and he cancels class at least three times during the quarter to let you work on your campaigns. Don't have to worry too much about the class, would definitely take him!

I had Dr. Eller throughout my Public Relations courses, and also as my senior project advisor. Dr. Eller was an excellent professor, he was so helpful and approachable. Dr. Eller has become a mentor for me, and my very favorite professor at Cal Poly. Take one of his classes if you get the chance, you won't be disappointed.

Eller is a really chill teacher. You have a quiz about once every two weeks, but you get credit for just writing your name. The midterms and final are also really easy - he gives you a study guide outlining everything you need to know. A group project is a HUGE percent of your grade, so if you don't like working with groups, skip this class. Overall, it was super easy and he's a pretty cool guy.

He's exceptionally good at Public Relations himself. He makes the class fun and applicable to what you want to learn. You will get out of the course what you put into the course. He's always available to help and explains everything thoroughly. It's difficult to work in groups, but Eller's grading mercifully reflects that. So, do your best and hope you get a good team, but know you're not screwed if you get a bad team. I'd advise Dr. Eller as a teacher, and a mentor. TAKE HIM! You will not regret it. Plus, he's close with Sturm, so you know it's good (if you know Sturm).

Dr. Eller is by far one of the best professors I have had the privilege of I meeting throughout my 4 years at Cal Poly. I had him for a few different courses, during all of which I learned more than I could have ever hoped. He is constantly going above and beyond to help any student who comes to him, regardless of whether or not they are currently enrolled in his classes. He is extremely knowledgeable in not only the field of Public Relations, but in many other fields as well. His classes are all very balanced between lecture and the "learn by doing" that Cal Poly is famous for. He brings real life experience and excitement to the classroom. He has been a blessing to work with!

Dan Eller is an excellent professor. He brings life experience to the class room, and it really adds to student comprehension of the subject matter. In JOURN 312 you do a PR project for an actual client. It was awesome to have guidance from a professor in addressing the concerns of a client. In addition to the project there is also a multiple choice midterm and a final. I felt that I learned the most from the project and that what I learned will help me when I am working with clients in the future. I took Journ 312 over a year ago, but just recently contacted Dr. Eller to ask for his advice on PR tactics for a current project. He met with me to discuss my project, and legitimately cares about the success of his students.

Dr. Eller is very enthusiastic about the Public Relations field. He is very straightforward, and understanding if you happen to be late turning in homework/late to class/etc. He is very accessible via email, and even gives his cell phone number on the syllabus. He is very willing to be a reference for you if you are applying for internships/jobs. Honestly, though, the experience of the class seemed very independent-- how much you learn and how well the class goes for you is very much up to you. To my memory, there was not a lot of \"book learning\" or time spent being entertained by the teacher--the class consists mostly of the experience of working with your peers. The class is not hard, but if you make the effort, you can get real experience making a PR campaign proposal for a real client through the group project. We had some designated project work days, where instead of meeting for normal class, we had time to meet with our group to work on the project. Again, Dr. Eller is very accessible and always willing to help.

Dr. Eller is not just a great teacher, but an overall great person. If he could stay all day to help you understand something, he would. He doesn\'t care about cramming a ton of information in your head, but by giving you useful knowledge through the Learn By Doing philosophy Cal Poly says it upholds, but let\'s face it, it rarely does. I wish all my teachers were like Dr. Eller just because I would feel like I learned something I can use in my future. Such a nice guy. You won\'t be disappointed.

Professor Eller is honestly the best teacher I have had at Cal Poly thus far. I was really interested in learning about public relations so I took this class as an elective, he presents the material very clearly and tells you exactly what he expects from you. The classes usually do not go to the full two hours, because he is incredibly understanding that as Poly students we have full plates. His midterms are directly from lectures which he posts online, the book is not necessary to purchase I just did to learn more about the field. You make a group the first few days of class and actually create and implement a public relations campaign which is a great resume booster! He believes in learn by doing but also is flexible with deadlines, you can tell he enjoys what he does. Honestly everyone should take this class, I am only into week 6 of the quarter but I think it is the best class I have participated in so far. Easy A because he wants you to succeed!

Dr. Eller knows that you have other classes, and he knows that much of the material in this class is neither hard to understand nor new (for most people). He doesn\'t try to make things any harder. Everything is very straight forward. He said \"it might seem like I\'m spoon feeding you the information, and that\'s because I am.\" You will get an A in the class if you go to class and do the online quizzes, and take advantage of his study guide. The guest lecturers that he has are actually very interesting usually and they share valuable information. I am glad I took this class. I\'ve actually used stuff that I learned, this class is easy and immediately beneficial. The best guest lecturer was the police officer, he was funny, approachable, and had SO much useful information. This class was great. Take it.

Dan is awesome. If you need to take KINE250, take him. He takes all your online quizzes (which are open book/open whatever) and makes that your midterm/final. He doesen't teach anything in class, but its not necesary. You never really have to learn anything, just take the quizzes online and look up the answers and make sure you print out your final results. From there just memorize the answers and go in and take the midterms. Instant A. Oh, you should show up to class though because after each guest lecturer speaks he usually has some sort of 10 point thing where you answer questions based on what the lecturer talked about. Easy 10 points but annoying having to sit through the boring lecturers. Most of the time you get out in 45 minutes to 1 hour though. Do yourself a favor and take Dan!
