ASCI 406 Senior Grade Earned: A Elective 5:45 pm, Nov 24, 2008 Report Evaluation |
This is the most amazing class. Lecture is fairly easy, with only one midterm, a final and a debate. Lab is where the fun is - you work with mostly mice embryos and practice "handling" them including in vitro fertilization, cryopreservation, biopsy, injecting sperm into them, etc etc. There are weekly lab quizzes online but you can retake them until you get an A. The hardest thing is probably the lab practical but you can fail it and still get an A. Besides lecture and lab, plan to spend another 2-3 hours a week injecting mice (think repro phys), checking embryo growth and practicing techniques. Even if you never thought you'd be interested in this course, try it! After just this course, you can go out and get a job as an embryologist (the only undergrad level course that enables you do that in the US!). Besides the course, Debbie is a fantastic teacher. She's very understanding and enthusiastic about everything embryos and it makes the class that much better. Trust me, take this class! | |
