I felt like the class was a huge waste of time. Listening to lecture after lecture learning pointless things. The tests were some of the worst written tests I have ever taken. Various mistakes were printed that could lead a student to get the wrong answer. I also find it pretty cool that they make you do their bitch work at the crops unit saying "they want you to get involved." Needless to say I guess I learned a lot picking weeds for six hours. | |

A class that started out as a basic orientation course turned in to a biased lecture heavily promoting the use of pesticides in agriculture. Prof. Green is confrontational towards students interested in sustainable growing and offers narrow interest or knowledge towards progressive horticulture technology. There is hardly any homework in this class and the assignents are easy until the final. The final is about 50% pesticide application calculations which aren't introduced to the class until the end of the quarter. Prof. Green lacks the ability to convey the material in a comprehensible way, but he likes to inform you of what students usually fail at in his final exam. The material is poorly written and explained. I recommend a clear understanding of dimensional analysis prior to the final. My favorite comment of his was "the only reason people farm organically is because of the sales they get from good PR". Be prepared for one-sided, outdated information from this professor. Also, if you do not complete every single project and pass the final exam (the only test during the quarter) you will have to retake the *entire* course. | |
