IME 405 Senior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 10:32 pm, Jan 3, 2011 Report Evaluation |
Bad teacher. Period. Don\'t take her. She\'s smart but can\'t teach. Confuses you more than anything. Not very organized. And her voice makes you want to rip off your ears. Tests are reasonable, and she curves, which was nice. But shes a harsh grader on her HW and projects. It\'s unfortunate she teaches classes. Avoid if possible.

IME 405 Senior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 8:47 pm, Jul 16, 2009 Report Evaluation |
I was always annoyed by evaluations that claim a professor should be avoided at all costs, because I had never had a professor that was that bad. Then, I had Curry for 405. She was never once prepared for class, constantly conflicted with the text, which was written by two Stanford professors, not a lecturer with Phd from whatever hillbilly school gave her a doctorates degree, and gave exams that were completely irrelevant to the course and far too long. I could go on, but I think the picture is clear. I often dismiss negative evaluations by students whom received a poor grade in the course. You are free to dismiss this one, if you would like. Just know that until this course, I had a 3.89 GPA and had never once missed the Dean's List in my three years at Cal Poly. That should tell you how horrible this professor is.

There's by far worse teachers. It's been Curry's first time teaching 405, giver her a damn break. At least she tries. Go to her office and she'll spend time and explain things to you if you're interested. Give her a couple of times of teaching this class and she'll get the hang of it. Okay maybe she's unorganized at times but from what I hear she's better than the other teachers that have taught Operations Research. Don't worry if she's teaching your class she's not that bad.

Fck this dumb bitch. She is the only one who has the slightest idea of what she's talking about... most of the time I question that too. Fuck, we all go to class at 8am to get confused and then Curry confuses herself too. What a waste of time. She is a JOKE! Avoid her any way you can. I don't even know how she got hired at Cal Poly.

IME 301 5th Year Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Support) 1:01 pm, Apr 3, 2009 Report Evaluation |
I think Barbara has a lot of industry experience in business and economics. which is awesome. It was nice to have conversations with her but as far as her teaching goes, it leaves something to be desired. She didn't really stick to the syllabus and it seemed like we were just going over the same stuff over and over. We also had a group final. It didn't work out to well. In 5 years of taking engineering classes at poly I have NEVER had a group final. This wasn't really an engineering classes but more of an engineering business class. Not the best but not the worst either.

IME 301 Junior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 10:55 pm, Mar 23, 2009 Report Evaluation |
Were do i begin... well this is an engineering class and she is not even an engineer she is from the business department. Of all the work we did i only got back one thing and that was my midterm which i received an A. She was never prepared for class, showed up late, and we were constantly correcting her in class. I don't get how a non-engineer can teach engineering classes, I think Cal Poly should definitely look into that.

The person below is not exaggerating. The worst teacher I have ever had at Cal Poly. She should reconsider her career in teaching. If there is a class you should buy the book and read it, it would be any class she teaches. Sitting through her lectures is a waste of my time. She makes mistakes in every single example (when we ask her to do one, she never does them on her own) and people in the class have to correct her. This was a very basic engineering economics class, and she manages to make it very difficult. Avoid her at all costs.

STAT 252 Freshman Grade Earned: B Required (Support) 9:25 pm, Jun 9, 2008 Report Evaluation |
Although I got a B in the class due to all the extra credit she gave us, Curry is the worst teacher I have ever experienced in my life. She doesn't present the material clearly. On test you never know what she is asking for because she words problems in ways that are open to interpretation and she expects you to know what she wants. When she lectures she is all over the place and you never really know what is going on. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR in any field she teaches. She is a pyscho

ECON 222 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 10:31 pm, Dec 26, 2006 Report Evaluation |
it took me a while to realize that there was no point to going to class except for when we had an assignment due. she doesnt really lecture, she just goes over key points in class. if you read the book you will be good. the nice thing is that if you are happy with your grade you do not have to take the final. the midterms are not hard, and the online quizes are easy too. i would recommend Curry since this class doesnt require a ton of busy work and is easy to get a good grade in.

ECON 221 Freshman Grade Earned: A Required (Support) 1:01 pm, Apr 3, 2001 Report Evaluation |
okay, this class was horrible. i am an econ major, but this was just awful. no material was explained. the homework/grading situation is really confusing, and tests are annoying. when i or anyone would ask questions they would not get straight answers. for the love of all that is holy, find another econ teacher.
