Dr. G is a really great teacher! The structure of the class is IBL, which is great for long-term understanding. Not only did I learn Geometry, but I learned how to write rigorous proofs. Most importantly, he genuinely cares about how his students are learning and doesn't grade unfairly.

This is a hard evaluation for me to write. Usually I have a strong opinion on the instructor of a course, but I am very indifferent in this case. I'll start by saying that I absolutely despise Geometry because I think that it's relevant to my opinion. Honestly, if you're in the teaching concentration and you have to take this course then it may amount to nothing more than a necessary evil for you. Some people see the constructions easily and can visualize the proofs quickly.. more power to those people. If you are one of those people then you will love the style of this class. It is called "Student Based Enquiry". Translation: Teach Yourself Everything. That's right, no lecture, no examples , not even a text book. Just a list of theorems and you sitting at a computer screen. Do you get better at proving things? Yeah. Do you get good grades while doing it? Not always. If you aren't great at teaching yourself then this class will not be a pleasant experience for you. As for Todd as a teacher, I don't really know what to say. He didn't exactly teach me anything, really the only times he influenced my learning was when he was marking down homework and exams. I can see him as a good teacher in another setting, but he didn't serve as a teacher for 442.

Todd is one of the best professors at Poly. I'm taking my second class with him this quarter, he is alll about learn by doing! He presents material clearly and is always asking if things make sense or if there's questions. 300 is a lesson plan writing class and he had very strict guidelines for all his grading which was hard to get a good grade but Todd is extremelyy fair. I'd recommend and take him for any class! He just LOVES TEACHING! And he's always asking for feedback for ways to improve

Todd is a great professor!!!!! He presented his lectures very clearly! We had quizzes every Monday and he dropped your lowest quiz score. Two midterms and a final! His midterms were easy! His Final was easy as well! We had homework which he did not collect. I did not do any of the homework, but I recommend you to do it because those questions are really similar if not the same as the ones on the quizzes I think he is one of thee best professors at Cal Poly! I really really recommend you taking him if you get a chance!

Professor Grundmeier is amazing. It\'s true he\'d incredibly socially awkward, but he recognizes struggling students and does all he can to help them. 142 is a tough class, but Grund conveys all the material clearly. He\'s also very helpful in office hours, and on top of all that, a fair amount of the quizzes are group quizzes, making the whole class that much easier. He also curves, which is nice.

He doesn't collect homework so it sometimes is hard to keep up with it. There is either a quiz or test every week which was a bit much but it also provides the opportunity for plenty of points. I didn't do well on the first few quizzes and almost failed the first test but got a B in the class. He is very helpful with srtuggling students and I would reccomend going to office hours if you are having trouble in the class.

I have taken all the calc classes and this was by far the hardest. It takes a lot of effort and work on your part. Go into office hours and he'll make sure you understand. Repeat homework problems over and over untill they are memorized! If you have to take this class this guy is probably the best for the job. I RECOMMEND YOU TAKE GRUNDMEIER.

Grundmeier is a great Professor, he's easy to talk to, fun and excited about his class. He's very fair and lectures well. He writes quite a bit on the board, and every minute or so he asks "Is this ok?" and he means it. He will stop and answer questions the whole way through if you want him to. Show up to class though, the notes you take are important because at times he doesn't teach a process the same way as the book does, it's just easier to do it how he teaches; but if you choose another route, he never marks down for it, as long as you're using proper calc techniques for the topic you're studying. So if you need to use u-sub, use u-sub... but Grundmeier sets up his substitution different than I do, it did help me to learn the way he looks at them.

Dr. Grundmeier is the only reason I passed Calc 2. I despise math and mostly despise Calculus, but this his class wasn't too bad. He presented material very cleary and always asked if there were any questions and then after answering your question he would ask if his answer made sense or satisfied your question. Great teacher, but don't get me wrong Calc 2 is hard. Do the homework and stay on top of it. He doesn't make it due, but it's a wise idea to do it and stay caught up in it with where he is in the lecture. 3 midterms, a "final", and a quiz every other week, he also drops one quiz and replaces a midterm with your "final" grade if your "final" was higher giving you a better final grade in the class.

I know everyone likes Todd. But he can be a tough grader. He has quizzes every week and three midterms. He tells you exaclty whats on the quizzes and whats on the tests. The tests and quizzes are straight from the homework, so even though homework isn't due, its wise to do it. Overall calc 2 is fairly difficult, its all integrals and how to get antiderivatives. But he is very good at explaining things and showing you all the possible ways to get to an answer. He is really helpful in office hours and is really easy to talk to. Don't ever be intimidated to ask how to do the algebra, he is really nice to answer that. Basically the whole class is memorizaion and minuplation, so if that is what you enjoy and your good at it then you will enjoy the class. But if you are lacking in those things, then the class will be a challenge. But if you have todd, he will make it seem easier than you would believe. He really knows how to make you understand the math language. But he got his degree in math education, so he is legit. Overall, a good class, challenging, but I learned alot and am ready for the next math class.

Don't get the wrong idea from the high rating of this teacher that this is an easy class!! grundmeier is a great teacher, but the material is tough. your grade consists of a quiz every week except exam weeks (30%), 3 midterms (15% each), and a final (25%). Your lowest quiz score is dropped and if you do better on the final than you do on one of the midterms, you get to replace your lowest midterm grade with the one you get on the final. in order to succeed in this class you need to stay on top of the homework. i usually spent the whole day before the exam studying my butt off, but obviously that isn't enough if you really want to do well. do ALL the homework and go in for help if you need it and you should be able to pull a decent grade. don't shrug off the quizzes like i did, because it makes up the biggest portion of your grade. grundmeier doesnt really curve so dont expect help from that. i do think grundmeier is an excellent teacher, but if you're looking to get a good grade, try to get KAUL instead of grundmeier. i originally was registered in that class but switched it because it was early in the morning....but from what i read in the syllabus and heard from friends, the grading scheme is much more forgiving. group quizzes every week that make up 30 percent of your grade...extra credit for doing all the homework. check his polyratings....he's supposed to be legit

However, this class is definitely geared around preparation for 143, so I'd recommend him more for someone who's moving farther in math. He's a great lecturer - very organized. Quiz every week, exam every 3 weeks... 3 exams and one final. If your final is higher than one exam grade, he replaces that exam with the final.

To start, this guy has a degree in math education. So he doesn't just know how to do it, he knows how to teach it! Makes the world of a difference. You'll also notice during registration, his classes fill up fast, and then the waitlist goes beyond if every single enrolled person dropped, there would still be people on the waitlist. It's because he's great. He explains things clearly, and if someone asks a question he makes sure that they actually understand it before moving. That said, it was my first time taking calculus, compared to most of the calc 1 class who had calc in high school. So it was difficult, and semi fast paced. His test are hard, and he purposefully puts things on the final that people struggled with in class. But thats because he wants you to actually learn it. Super helpful in office hours, and in class. Willing to go over your mistakes on tests, etc. I really think he passed me because he knew I knew the material, I would just get caught up on these non-calculus errors. He's great! Take him, I'm bummed I won't get him for calc 2. :(
