Reaves is pretty cool! He's super into sports nutrition so he talks and applies the material to a lot of sports related subjects. He presents a lot of information, and a lot of it won't be on the test. However, you will truly learn a lot from this class. He's a cool guy! Good teacher. But the tests were tough. As far as the projects, they weren't bad. He helps and guides you through them. He allows you to bump off your worst test grade which definitely helps. He even has a couple of classes throughout the quarter where he just posts an online lecture instead of in class.

Dr Reaves is a class act. He is truly passionate about metabolism and equally as passionate about his students' success. Reaves is an amazing man and it's a pleasure to be a pupil of his. I felt so accomplished after finishing this class. FSN 328 was a revelation to me, it showed me that I have absolutely found my passion in nutrition

DR. REAVES IS THE MAN! I took FSN 210 class this quarter and loved it. He's really well-informed and totally knows his stuff. The class had no homework except one 100 point project, which was super easy. Your grade is based on 3 quizzes and 3 midterms, all of which are pretty hard. Tons of stuff off the test is out of the reading and what he talks about in class. Memorize the examples he uses. Overall, a really good class if nutrition is what you're interested in, but if you're looking for an easy elective, DON'T take this class.

Dr. Reeves is informed and enthusiastic. He is neither bored or boring. His classes are challenging and very informative. He treats his students with respect and is never condescending. His nutrient metabolism classes are challenging and very rewarding if you put in the time.

By far the hardest class I've taking at Poly, but also the most interesting. I learned so much. Dr. Reaves passion for nutrition is evident; this man knows his stuff. He will always explain something to you again if you need help. One of the beat teachers at poly. There were 2 midterms, a final, 3 quizzes (one is dropped), and 2 assignments. Every single assignment and test for this class is VERY VERY TIME CONSUMING. THIS CLASS IS NOT AN EASY A OR EASY B. But if you have the chance to take this class with him you should!

Dr. Reeves is a very knowledgeable and smart teacher. He loves talking about sports nutrition, the studies he's involved with, and fiber! The projects are fairly easy and boost your grade. Tests are mostly multiple choice with a few free response, and his study guides are SUPER helpful.Lowest quiz grade is dropped. A couple questions were tricky but he usually adds a point or two if he notices a bunch of people getting them wrong. For class print out the slides and take notes around them, like in handout style. There is way too much info on each slide to just take notes on paper. Or you could bring your laptop if you don't want to waste paper. Pretty straightforward and i would recommend him for FSN 210.

If you\'re interested in nutrition at all, this is a good class for you. Dr. Reaves does a great job of keeping you interested. The class consists of 3 tests (2 midterms & final) and all are 50 multiple choice. There\'s also 3 quizzes and the diet analysis project which is really cool. Definitely take this class. Great teacher.

Very interesting class. I wouldnt recommended it if your trying to take is as an elective from another major... very detailed. He\'s a great professor and its obvious he knows what he is talking about. Make sure you take SOLID notes from his lectures... he takes statements he says and writes them in the tests. Quizzes are much much harder than the exams. Loved this course and sexy Dr. Reaves.;)

Reaves is great great great, I definitely think he is the best professor I've had in my three years here. Hard class, very detail oriented, you have to want to do well, which I did. It's definitely possible to do really well. I ended the class in the B range, but it got bumped to an A- via a class curve (I think). Expect to be catered to as much as possible even though the class is challenging. He appreciates his students and his material equally.

he is soooo funny! The class subject is what is hard...and believe me, it is freakin hard!! soooo much info! But reaves is really cool, and he understands that there is ALOT of material in this class. He really tries to cater to his students. I totally recommend him!

Professor Reaves is the best professor I have had in the FSN department. He wants to help students understand the material, and I feel the info I learned in this class is well understood and solid in my mind.

He was a little stressed out this quarter but was still a good guy. He had a hard time grading things in time, but overall everything was pretty good. This class was different than 328, and was a lot harder for some people. Be sure to study everything, and remember little details about vitamins.

Dr. Reaves is hands down my favorite professor at Poly. I do not have enough space on this page to say enough nice things about him. He is an amazing teacher- lots of info and wants to help you learn. Students are his #1 priority. He is amazing.

Reaves is my favorite teacher thus far at Cal Poly, although i'm pretty sure that is very controversial. He is extremely demanding of his students in terms of the amount of knowledge he expects you to know, but is the most straightforward teacher ever. If you love nutrition, you will love this class...make sure you know his study guides backwards and forwards...if you do, you will hands down ace the tests. He asks mult choice, fill in, t/f, and short answer. When you're going over the study guide, you can tell which ones are going to be short answer, so prepare accordingly, and youll do great! He is willing to help you anytime and will adjust his class so that everyone is learning at optimal level...he likes to go fast, but if you slow him down, he is more than willing to do so. be prepared for a very tough, yet interesting and enjoyable 2 quarters!

you don't really have a choice of professors for this class, he is the only one. he is a very knowledgable professor (and hot) with a good sense of humor (and huge biceps). I am usually not good with attendence but I went to his class (to get my daily dose of daydreams in about his hot bod). I can't say anything more about the class except that you must work hard and stay up with the lecture material (instead of wondering how he looks with his shirt off, like i did). good luck with Gaston.

This course is much more demanding than any other FSN classes. Dr. Reaves expects a lot from his students. He realized after the first 3 weeks that many of his students were having problems transitioning to his quick style that he asked us to evaluate him and the class. Right after, he adjusted his teaching style to better fit the class. He is a great professor. The class comprised of 2 midterms, 4 quizzes (drop the lowest score) and one easy assignment. I look forward to taking him for FSN 329.

Dr. Reaves is a badass. If you are honestly interested in nutrition, you will learn a lot. But If you don't really care, it will be tough because the 328/329 series gets into detail on mechanism, biochem., pathophysiology, etc. I loved it! And you can tell that Reaves is genuinely excited and enthusiastic about nutrition. Overall, interesting, informative--I felt much smarter after finishing the series. You won't regret working hard in this course.

Funny guy. I like nutrition so the class came pretty easy to me, but even for those of you who don't have a clue, you really learn a lot. He's REALLY into muscle building, and kind of looks like Guston from beauty and the beast, but he still knows his stuff. All the notes are online and he drops the lowest quiz. oh, and you get to evaluate your own diet, which is kinda scary/cool.

Dr. Reaves is a great guy. Very nice and he really wants you to do well and learn the stuff. Get to know him because he is really cool. The lectures were a little boring, but he has a good sense of humor. Good group project too.

FSN 210 Freshman Grade Earned: A General Ed 12:01 am, Apr 14, 2004 Report Evaluation |
I thought Mr. Reaves was a very good teacher. He tried to make it intersting which I think with nutrition can be quite hard. He pretty much lectures off of powerpoints which is fine. Just take good notes (beyond whats written on the powerpoints). I used the book for the first half of the quarter and then stopped reading during the second half and still ended up with an A-. He drops a lot of questions from his quizes which is good. I think all of his tests were fair and as long as I studied his practice questions I did fine. You also have a diet project which is an easy 50 points just follow all the directions. He shows some intersting movies and trys to get a discussion going. I thought it was a good class and not as hard as I thought it would be especially since science and nutrition arn't really my thing.

He was an awsome teacher!! Take him if you can. At first he makes you think the class is going to be hard, but it is not. You learn alot about nutrition and he is a very fair grader. Basically everyone gets a 100% on the one project, mine was way too short and he still gave me an A+. He goes over every quiz and drops the problems that everyone gets wrong, he is also very knowledgable about his field, and can answer almost any random question about nurtition. Take him!!!

This was a fun class. I learned a lot about nutrition and professor Reaves made sure that the class knew what would be on the tests. He really cared about us doing well and was constantly asking how he could make it easier for us.

FSN 328 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 9:15 pm, Dec 28, 2003 Report Evaluation |
Dr. Reaves is an excellent teacher and incredibly smart. For being a first time teacher, I thought he commanded the class well and was flexible with some of the material. There aren't assignments to boost your grade, so take each quiz (3 total at 20 points each), exam (2 at 70 points) and the final (100 points) seriously. The quizzes are hard to study for because you'll literally have 100 power points slides to look over, while he gives us a study guide for the midterms and final. We didn't use the book, but it helped to have it around for reference and explaining concepts glossed over in class. Get to know him... he's a really nice guy, very understanding, and always willing to help when asked.
