ART 105 Junior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 6:12 pm, Mar 2, 2013 Report Evaluation |
I unfortunately had no choice but to enroll in Art 105 with Tera because, while the rest of my coursework articulated from my Community College, this course did not. I did my best to do "Credit by Examination", essentially "testing out" of the course because I have known the course material since beginning art classes that I took in the mid-1990s. I recently graduated with Honors (3.5 GPA) from my Community College with three (3) Associate Degrees for Print Graphics, Multimedia Design, and Photography. I also worked as a Teaching Assistant for classes that cover Color Theory and 2D Design for over 4 years. Nonetheless, Tera is under the false impression that I do not have an "understanding" of color. She even made false statements about the contents of my work, right to my face, when I met with her to discuss my grade in her course. It is pretty clear from my perspective that I was discriminated against because I am a GRC Major instead of one of her Art & Design "Angels". It is also funny how Tera criticizes my work, when I have an extensive body of work with almost all 'A's in my previous courses (and never anything less than a 'B'), when all Tera can do are ridiculous paper mach "trees" and silk work installations. LAME! At least my design work will actually be of purpose and benefit to society. To all my fellow GRC peers: If you have to take Art 105 or 106 and it is offered by another instructor, take it with them! If not, I wish you the best and hopefully you will not be treated as poorly as I was.

ART 105 Junior Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 3:28 pm, Oct 31, 2011 Report Evaluation |
Tera is very nice and has been nothing but sweet. The problem in 105 lies in that instead of making artists self-sufficient in choosing appropriate color palettes for projects, she presents the very basics, with no tools for maturing artists. Yes, I can tell you what primary colors are, but it took 2 more years of classes to tell you when you would want to use them and why. Great knowledge of basics but no sense of showing students how to do things on their own.

The SWEETEST teacher. I love her to death. Incredibly nice, and honest. If something doesn't work, she'll tell you in the nicest way imaginable. A bit soft-spoken, but she definitely knows what she's doing. I work extra hard in her class because I don't want to dissapoint her. Finals are easy, fair grader...HIGHLY RECCOMEND. YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH HER.

It's hard to give an art instructor any less than an A unless they're really unfair or uninformed. Professor Galanti is sweet and mild mannered, but also refreshingly honest and helpful. If your Color Aid composition isn't the best it could be, she will tell you, and she will tell you why.

ART 201 Sophomore Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 9:55 pm, Nov 5, 2007 Report Evaluation |
tera is like your fourth grade art teacher. she's way too sweet so you never want to try any harder because you know you're going to get a good grade anyway. when she's critiquing your artwork she's so softspoken that half the time you just want to yell at her to say what's really on her mind. she's a nice lady but i would rather have a teacher who's really going to tell me flat out that my drawing looks like crap so i can fix it than have her attempt to convince me that it looks ok. if you're taking her class for a ge she's perfect, but i don't like her as a serious art teacher.

ART 409 Senior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 9:23 pm, Feb 15, 2007 Report Evaluation |
I had Tera for many classes over the years. I think people are initally put off by her soft-spoken nature, but she is extremely smart and extremely passionate. She has so much to share, and she does so in a caring & constructive way. I've observed her critique people in a way that lets them know exactly how she feels, but framed in a way that allows them to move forward rather than focusing on things they did "wrong"

ART 131 Freshman Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 12:08 am, Jan 4, 2007 Report Evaluation |
sweet lady but half the time she doesn't know what's going on with the curriculum or the assignments. the fundamentals of 2-d design are crucial and after taking this class i feel as if i am lacking a sturdy base of knowledge, in fact, i don't think i learned a single productive thing. the amount of work is ridiculous ESPECIALLY because it seems pointless.

Tera is a sweet, caring teacher who is always available to help and give advise. She's a pretty easy grader, but always encourages her students to push their work to its fullest potential. She is very sensitive to any personal issues that may be affecting her students' performance. I stongly recommend Tera!!!!! You'll love her!!!!! :)

ART 132 Sophomore Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 6:24 pm, Aug 16, 2005 Report Evaluation |
Tara is a very kind teacher. She is definately a nice alternative to Chuck, that's for sure. She is always supportive and willing to help you with your projects or understand the concepts more clearly. The class is expensive because of all the materials but that's art for you. It's a good idea not to slack off and wait to do the assignments at the last minute because they are very time consumming, I know I put in quite a few long, late hours down at Dexter painting little swatches of color till I got it right. Overall though, I enjoyed the class and learned a great deal about color. I look forward to taking more classes from Tara.

Tera has a very wide, eclectic, and comprehensive understanding of what is going on in art. She brings in a lot of outside contemporary sources and artists to help students find their voice. Tera doesn't focus on teaching a style or stuffing student's creativity in a box. Instead, she helps push the envelope of potential both in ideas and formal qualities. She's great!

ART 203 Senior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 9:35 pm, Dec 16, 2003 Report Evaluation |
Tera is a great teacher. It takes a little while to get used to her style of teaching but once you do the class is very fun. She brings very contemporay ideas to this class and really lets you create your own projects. She does require you to work so it's not that easy of a class.

ART 133 Freshman Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 10:12 am, Sep 9, 2003 Report Evaluation |
Tera was a great teacher. I had Chuck for 131 and 132 and really wish that I had Tera for those classes because she really helps. She doesn't fully come out and tell you that your art is crap. Instead, she tries to help you make it better, which is really encouraging. If you put all your work on the critique board, chances are that you'll get an A because she helps improve your work. She's a great teacher and I recomend her to all art students.
