Bordeman lays out accounting pretty simply and works to make it as interesting as he can.The workload wasn't too bad at all and he's a pretty cool guy who doesn't take himself too seriously. Definitely would recommend.

Dr. Bordeman is a pragmatic guy. He assigns work and moves through course material at a reasonable pace, and he has a down to earth personality. Would recommend for sure.

Bordeman was really cool. He tries to make the information really interesting, and he wants you to succeed. He was helpful when i had questions and went to his office hours. Course load is decent, tests are pretty fair. He's definitely not an easy professor, but if you study hard then you will do at least decent. I would definitely recommend!

This teacher SUCKED. He doesn't know how to teach and sucks at explaining stuff. He doesn't really care if you don't know the answer and does a terrible job trying to explain the answer. We had a Pourgobauger as a sub for this class one day and it was the only time I understood the material. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS

Bordeman wants you to succeed. He will go out of his way to help you if you ask him questions. The class is not easy but you learn a lot. Just participate in class and you will be fine. One of the nicest professors at Cal Poly. Would definitely recommend.

Professor Bordeman was very passionate about accounting. Although, he often said that he wanted his class average to be a C range, which I get because C obviously means average, except no one wants a C because that hurts our GPAs. I felt I understood the course, most of my test errors were due to poor reading comprehension, but was still averaging C-range on the tests. Do the homework, it will be your saving grace. The course is relatively easy to navigate and there is free tutoring offered for it, so that's a bonus. Overall, I like Professor Bordeman and he cares about the success of his students, my only issue is that the course is kind of set up to keep you in the C-range, unless you have a passion for accounting and really delve into it- which wasn't something I had or could do.

Test scores count for the majority of your grade. The tests are also very difficult because he "likes to make the tests harder than average to really challenge the class." His words, not mine. Going to his office hours is not very helpful either even if you come with a specific question because he will just ask "well how do YOU think you're supposed to solve the problem?" Even though you obviously wouldn't ask a question about a problem you already knew how to solve. The homework is easy to do but can be quite time consuming. He also has the tendency to get off track talking about other accounting chapters the class has yet to learn. Lastly, he does not make his own powerpoints, he just uses the powerpoints that the book provides. So all the examples you read from the book, he will lecture the same exact problems the next day.

First of all, this man LOVES accounting. He just had a baby and I swear he would name her FIFO or some other accounting term because that is how much he loves accounting. He has a PhD in accounting, which I didn't even know was a thing. Anyways, I wasn't particularly impressed with Dr. Bordeman. I felt like he didn't prepare us as much as he could for the midterms, and there was a lot from the book on the exams that was not on the PowerPoints. He didn't test us as much on accounting and balancing the budget sheets and what not, it was mostly conceptual and definitions. The exams are all multiple choice, so if you like that you will be fine, I just don't really see how it tests our knowledge on actual applied accounting, and it is not really reflective of the homework we do. MyAccountingLab is really helpful if you click on the "Show Me How To Solve" button in the homework and it'll explain the concepts really in depth and the "why" behind accounting, which is helpful for the exams. All in all, Dr. B is okay. Not the best, not the worst. It's not the end of the world if you take him, I just feel like there are better options out there if you feel like you want to concentrate in accounting and you want to be excited by the material.

Read and attempt the homework before going to class because you'll be able to participate more and he likes that. Also, going to class becomes more like built in office hours than just learning new information. Go to actual office hours as well when you're confused because he'll usually clear it up, and he's not intimidating during office hours so don't worry about that.
