Ginni is one of the nicest teachers I've had and she really means well and is very goofy. But she sucks at teaching. All the assignments and in class quizzes we had were fundamentally very easy but she did a terrible job at explaining them. For complicated formulas and concepts regarding accuracy and efficiency she would just mention the formula/concept then throw us in the fire with an assignment due after the remaining 10 minutes of class. Although the in class assignments are mostly graded for completion, the learning retention just isn't there. The pre labs are just busy work as well. You will have 100% from the quizzes and assignments, but the midterm and final will dick you hard. She expects you to perfectly understand the concepts she taught badly and only grades the test out of like 40 points. The one awesome thing about this class was the project, it gave us great experience learning the concepts and applying them. Ginni is also great in office hours, so if you have trouble with concepts go see her in office hours. I probably should have done that..... Obviously you don't really have much of a choice as far as IME teachers go since only one teacher generally teaches the course. Just know that you're hosed in advance.

Had her for lecture and lab, course contained a ton of busy work and tons of little assignments on her polylearn which she probably updates every night before bed. Nothing was too difficult, and good experience gained with the project. Not a very good teacher but she is really nice and funny

Ginni is very nice and I have nothing against her. The class had a good amount of work, but it was completely manageable. As long as you go to every class and pay attention you should do fine. The Midterm and Final were medium difficulty. Homework is busy work and the class doesn't require any intense studying. I was very upset with her because she gave me a C+ with a 79.8% and a perfect final presentation score.

IF YOU DO ALL THE WORK YOU WILL GET AN A. Everything in this class is participation and the midterms and finals are ridiculously easy. As long as you go every day and do all the busy work, you'll be fine.

Ginni was a great teacher. There are small polylearn assignments every week that are pretty easy you just have to remember to do them. She gave fill in the blank handouts for every lecture. There's a group term project that is kind of a lot of work but manageable since she makes you work on it in pieces throughout the quarter. There are 5, she calls them quizzes but they're really small midterms, that are pretty easy. You get to drop your lowest of the 5. She's is really helpful in office hours. This class is very relevant to real world IE work.

Engr econ as a class was not too hard, but does require some work. Ginni, although a wonderful lady, is not so great at presenting material to a class. I actually had her for IME 223 lab as well, which was pretty painful. That being said, she is VERY reasonable with grades, and she is extremely useful in office hours! You may have to put in a little more work yourself for the class, but you will definitely get a grade out of her.

Virginia is absolutely not qualified to be a professor at Cal Poly. She has no experience and has no idea how to present any material to the class. It is a joke that the department would let her be responsible for an upper division engineering course at such a prestigious university. Virginia, you're making Cal Poly look bad, go home. Unfortunately, Karen Bangs is her mentor, enough said.

Wow. Cal Poly's IME department has really done it this time. First Karen Bangs starts teaching 400 level classes and now she brings in her partner in crime Ginni to destroy this department even further. Ginni has no clue how to teach. She reads directly from the slides and brings no external insight into class. Every piece of material (even midterms) were copied from Karen Bang's previous teachings (is that even legal?). She works fulltime and you can tell she was never prepared for class. Ginni, Please reconsider your abilities as a teacher for the sake of this great university.

Ginni is not a particularly good teacher. That being said she is a really nice person and tries hard. Class is not very interesting, but the tests and quizes are very representative of what she teaches in class. While I don't feel that I really learned anything particularly useful in this class it at least was an easy A and she grades projects and papers very leniently.

Professor Callow is far from the most interesting or engaging professor you will ever have, but this class is probably the easiest upper division engineering course you will ever take. Literally everyone in the class got an A (some got over 100%) on the midterm. Even better, during dead week she decided to cancel the final since EVERYONE IN THE CLASS HAD AN A. In terms of workload, think of this as another Karen Bangs class with much more lenient grading. If you're looking for an easy class to go with other rough classes on your schedule, then this is the perfect class for you.

I have no idea why she has a low rating. Yes, I did not learn many things from this class, but the fact that it was easy to get an A was all that matters to me. She have blond hair, skinny and I think she is in her 45-50 ish. All we had to do was work as a group and present some material you've researched online to the class, like once on a powerpoint. Had one midterm which was really easy, but i think it had nothing to with her lectures except for the fact that you needed to understand the concepts overall. She had all her lectures uploaded w/ video of herself talking about stuff on Poly Learn. She is easy grader and likes to interact with the class alot. There are some weekly homework on poly learn we had to do which was fairly easy, just took some time. All in all, She was great teacher in my experience and by the way we had no FINAL EXAM!.

This class should not be a class. Or it's title should be IME 119, memorization of bullsh*t about bullsh*t Gini did her best, but honestly did a pretty mediocre job teaching a class that is based on memorizing definitions and vocabulary. Wheres the "learn by doing?" Wheres the examples of real life applications and valuable experience from a veteran in the industry?

I took IME 319 with Ginni because I couldn't get any electives for my major. It was a weird class but easy for the most part. You sort of have to work for an A, but it's an easier A to get than other classes. WHen I took it with her, our grade was based on small assignments we sometimes did in class, 4 out of 5 tests (dropping your lowest test), a presentation, a couple of "reports" and a group project. Small assignments in class, just do them for super easy assignment points. The tests are in chunks, with the final test being cumulative, but if you did great on the first 4 tests, you can ignore the final test. The presentation and group project will be with the same people, it'll take a few hours but it's decently easy. The "reports"... well they're about specific things but since she's so busy, as long as you have somewhat close to the requirements she needs for the reports, she'll give you your points for them. She's always super busy and she says it quite a bit toward the end of the quarter but she's a lenient grader, lots of easy points and plenty of partial credit on the tests. Not the greatest presentations, she reads off the powerpoint and goes really fast when she lectures but if you ask her to put the powerpoint up and read up on the slides/take notes as fast as you can (preferably on laptop) then you should be fine for the class.

Ginni is a great person, but not the best lecturer. 319 is not bad in general, but youll need a good 3 person group, so take it with friends! She seems to be the filler for the IME department, as in "hey we need someone to teach this 300/400 level class, Ginni, you do it!" Being the nice person she is, she takes it. She taught 5 different courses this quarter so I'd imagine that her grading isnt the most accurate because I got 100% on a lot of assignments. Advice: it's easy in the beginning, but halfway through the quarter, assignments will pop out of no where and your group will be your best friends. People say it's an easy class because it's an easy A, but there's still a decent amount of writing involved!

This class is ridiculously easy. You do a group project for the whole quarter, and give a "status update presentation" every two weeks. You will get 100% on every assignment just by turning it in, and ace the midterm if you study for 15 minutes. However, I was actually interested in Human Factors and wish we learned more.

I took her human factors class for an area F. There were all different majors in my class and I think most all of us got As. I'm and Econ major and she made the information interesting to me because she is passionate about it. There were five tests including the final and you could drop one so almost no one took the final. You have a couple group projects. Some assignments to upload around once every week or two. Overall I would definitely recommend this class for your area F if it sounds like a subject you're interested in.

She is overworked and mentions it everyday in class. While she is a really nice lady who wants us to enjoy Supply Chain Management she really doesn't know how to convey the material. We have basically just glossed over ten ninty slide powerpoints during the quarter and have no idea what SCM actually is about. I've gotten A's on both midterms but only because they are more common sense than applying the material. Basically take this class if you are expecting a heavy course load from your other classes and want a guaranteed A/B. Don't expect to learn a good deal...

Ginni is very nice and very helpful. Here is the rundown: The class is a couple online homework assignments and 4 quizzes. NO MIDTERMS. The Final is optional- if you didn't do well on the quizzes you can take the Final. The quizzes are extremely simple. She gives out practice quizzes and we go over them the class prior to the quiz. Just pay some attention to your peers when they explain how to do each problem from the practice quizzes. It is very straight forward and simple. The sample quizzes are identical to the real thing. You also get cheat sheets- just write down important definitions and then a few examples of the quantitative problems. The quizzes are true/false, matching, fill in the blank, and a couple math problems. If you want to get an A in an IT class take this course. Good luck!

Ginni did an awful job teaching this class. I was really disappointed that I did not have Dr. P. Ginni did not know what she was teaching, a lot of her own solutions were incorrect and you were still responsible for knowing how to do it correctly. Ginni was very disorganized and changed the syllabus halfway through the quarter because she was unhappy with attendance to her class. Without attendance as a grade, I would agree that her lectures are not helpful as she posts the lecture slides online and doesn't really add much to what is on the slide. More than that, you will learn very little from her and teach yourself everything. I would say that's fine to any other professor but her class was just a roller coaster ride and not in the fun way. Would NOT recommend. Plus don't trust her. She likes to change her mind about things. A lot. I truly think she failed her students this past quarter.

The textbook is a much more effective professor. She doesn't know what she's talking about and essentially speaks in a tone that suggests she is completely unsure of everything she says. Take Dr. P for this highly important class. You will not regret it.

Expect her to be disorganized, offer nothing outside the course requirements, and be unsure of the material herself. She will give you busy work, barely teach anything, and serve no purpose other than guiding you through the textbook. The IME department desperately needs to replace her for someone qualified, but instead they continue to give her more classes.

Gini does nothing more than waste students time. As far as I'm concerned, CSU is paying $63,123.21 per year for a completely incompetent professor. Then again that is pretty typical of the CSU system, but Cal Poly is USUALLY the exception.

I am an ME with a manufacturing concentration. This was the only IME elective I wanted to take to further learn about product development beyond what I had learned in ME 234, Philosophy of Design. It being a 400 level class, I believed the design aspect would be more in depth than any other course I have had at Cal Poly thus far, however it seemed the Ginni really had little to no experience with product design and development. I felt that I had not learned any more than I already knew, and anything new I learned was surface level knowledge I could have learned from Wikipedia. Ultimately I feel this course did not provide an in-depth examination of product design or how to successfully implement it. It's more than the fact that we did not actually design, prototype, and build any real product (which would have been nice), design case studies seemed to be student-provided and subjective in nature (ie. "I think Apple is good because X"), rather than an objective study of what makes a good product design. Go for it if you want an easy A, if you actually care about product/industrial design then senior project may be your best bet at learning something new.

During my time at Poly, I've had Ginni for three classes. She's been teaching 319 for awhile now, but the department has decided in the last couple years to start having her learn how to teach other classes so they aren't helpless when a veteran professor decides to go on sabbatical or something. In each of the classes I took her in, it was noticeable that she hadn't had a lot of experience teaching the subject and was experimenting with homework and exams to see what worked and what didn't with students. She seems enthusiastic about teaching and I think she'll end up being a pretty good professor if she sticks with it. She's a really cool person to talk to and get to know a little bit outside of class. She's always eager to help if you ask for it.
