Professor Djassemi was probably the worst teacher I have had during the past 3 years of my stay here at calpoly. He originates from somewhere in the Middle East and it is very, and I mean very difficult to understand him. In addition, he doesn't add any information other then whats in the text. All he does is print out the book's outlines and then puts them on the overhead.............that's it...overall it seems as if he knows very little about what he is teaching and I would never never reccommend anyone take him.

Get over it - he's not that bad. If you memorize everything on his study guide you'll do well. How's that any different from guys like Randazzo? At least you know what to expect. He's shy, but he cares about the students' education. That's what he's there for, not to be your buddy!

Not as bad as some previous evaluations may have said. This was the first IT class I took and I got an A. The lab counts as 40% of the grade and is pretty easy to get between a 90 and 100 in that. The lecture is just information that needs to be memorized. (There is no curve for this class) There are some questions on the test that are super specific. This caused me to have about an 83 test average. (Two tests and then final non-cumuliative) But he gave us extra credit for going to Poly Pack presentations of 3%!!! increase of final grade. However, if these aren't going on when you take the class I don't know if he'll offer extra credit or not. Point is its not that hard to get a B with minimal effort.

4 Tests - Typical Djassemi test - M/C, Fill In, Short Answer (KNOW EVERYTHING ON THE POWERPOINTS) Labs is easy and fun, start the welding project first! This professor needs to be fired, his english is at best Ok and as a result his test are worded extremely poorly. He reads off his powerpoints, and cannot answer any questions related to the material.

I'm a mechanical engineering major, and took this class for fun. Djassemi is not a good teacher. He relies almost exclusively on powerpoint, which has always been a warning sign for me. However, the tests are his biggest failing. I don't care about hard tests, because there are plenty of teachers who have hard tests. What Djassemi has are impossible tests. They aren't based on the material, or how well you understand manufacturing processes. They're based on how well you know his notes. Not quite the same thing. His homework assignments are few (4 or 5) and he occasionally has the class write their names down to take attendance (a good friend who knows your name could help here). For the midterms, do your best to remember the lecture notes word for word-seriously.

Dr. Djassemi is a fair professor. If you need help understanding the materials, just utilize the office hours, he will help you greatly. He is one the great teachers I ever had. He is here for us to grasp the material we need to know. I definitly will take more courses with him in the future.

Djassemi is the worst professor I have ever had, that is if you wanted to learn something (which I did). I know someone who was thinking about switching to IT and chose not to because of his class. His class isn't hard if you're great at memorizing or if you already know something about the material but if you actually care to learn more and don't know the specific terminology he'd like you to use on the fill in the blank tests you'll be disapointed. He has a mandatory attendance policy to make people come to class but by the end of the quarter half the class still won't show. Once again, its not a hard class if you already have an idea of the material (those people usually say the tests are the easiest ever), you only run into problems when you expect him to teach you something. He covers the workbook ppts in class so if you know that theres no real need for you to torture yourself in coming to class.

Djassemi is a good professor. I had a good grade my knowing the information he gives us in class which means you have to attend. Like someone mentioned earlier if you have questions ask him, he is always willingly to help. He doesn't get buddy buddy with the students but he does care about our education. He doesn't give out a whole lot of homework so if you people are bitching then they just were to damn lazy to learn the information presented. He is a predicatable professor and you do not get suprises. What you see is what yout get. I would definitley recommend this teacher.

Where to begin. He just reads off the powerpoints. In all honesty you dont need to go to class, your only going to fall asleep anyway. Lots of stuff on the powerpoints but he doesnt know the material on it. Dont ask him a question about something cause he cant answer it. Test are hard not because the material is difficult, but the wording of the questions makes them impossible to understand. He is a good guy and means well but isnt an interesting teacher and doesnt keep students interested in learning the stuff. lab makes the class worth it if you enjoy doing that kind of stuff, if you dont like that stuff you will hate lab.

In all fairness, his classes are not that bad. He has to explain many things about manufacturing processes into one quarter that it is hard to cover everything in great detail. However this can be a problem for students who do not pay attention to the powerpoint slides. The key to the class is to pay attention to the slides! As a former Mech. Engineering student, this class is no where as hard as a MATE 210/215 class. However, our major doesn't need to know the details of tooling/material selection. Just know how things work. Just study the materials, go to office hours, form study groups, then the class isn't that bad. You actually have to STUDY to excel in any class you take.

Djassemi is actually a pretty good instructor. Like someone below me said - he doesn't get buddy buddy with students, but he is there to teach. He is always willing to help and he really wants you to learn. The class is a typical college lecture class - that's why we have those things called labs.

He\'s pretty good. His tests are the weirdest thing about him, they\'re really like nothing you have done before, but they aren\'t that hard. You just need to be in class cuz he really emphasizes important topics which end up being on the test. The class itself is really interesting, the lab is super fun and hands on. As far as his English goes, it isn\'t good but if you pay attention it\'s really not that hard to understand what he is saying. He knows how to teach the course well. He always passes stuff around and uses youtube, but his tests are so weird.

Presents the material in great detail and expects you to out down exactly what he thinks on the tests, no wiggle room. Study the manual a lot and you should do okay. Somewhat boring, but overall, not too bad. Just boring and make sure you know exactly what he wants.

Dr. Djassemi tests are super weird. Be prepared with a calculator always. Study the lab manual for a long time. You need to know every detail. Especially if it's something he said in class. Personally, Djassemi was rude, arrogant, and treated me like an air head bimbo and wouldn't offer me help when I'd go into his office hours. He implied I was unintelligent and discriminates based on gender.

Djassemi's english is pretty bad. That's the first thing. Second, his tests are impossible. I don't say that because I'm bitter about my grade but I say that because you can actually spend weeks studying for a midterm, and you still won't have the detail he demands. He expects students to immediately understand the material like he does. The lab was the best part of the course.

Djassemi knows his stuff, but the way he presents the skills is terrible. Its like hes teaching to a fifth grade class and he cant answer any questions. theres 4 midterms and 2 group projects. Like other people said, his tests are nothing like youve had before. Just make sure you study crazy hard before the tests, cause he\'ll ask you the most random part of the material, not the main points. the labs are easy and fun, but he talks forever.

This instructor is very difficult to understand. I didnt learn much from him. He taught the class straight from the book and his overheads were straight from the book. I give him a low rating, he is nothing close to what we used to have, Hoadley and Lipper were instructors that knew their stuff and also knew how to teach, this instructor does not know how to teach, plus he is not a professor that connects with the students, I do not feel the confidence to go to his office for some advice.

djassemi was alright, not an easy grade. tests were pretty difficult, and studying ur ass off doesn't mean u get the grade u expect. idid actually learn stuff. pretty traditonal w/ powerpoints. put some effort and a B is pretty manageable. he was a little intimidating in his office hours, but was actually helpful to go to during paper revisions. take the class if u have some balls and arent a panty waist IT major.

If you want to learn about industrial materials, just go buy his lab manual in the bookstore, you will learn more by just reading that than taking the class. He writes his tests the way he talks, in which is not English. His tests are illiterate, and it just makes the questions confusing. He should have somebody read over his tests before he hands them out. But the labs are fun.

We really need to petition the IT department to get him to change his tests.

This is the 4th class I have taken with Professor Djassemi. Although this review is for 390 you can pretty much use it for all hus courses, he teaches them the same. He is a very knowledgeable professor, seriously the guy is really intelligent, but often doesn't communicate the ideas he is trying to teach in class effectively. He doesn't make the topics very interesting or exciting either and as a result the class is not generally very engaged. I will say he does do a good job of using videos. I find that that is often the part of lectures I find most useful. Professor Djassemi's test are a piece of work. They are almost all memorization questions and are often worded very confusingly. He preaches about understanding concepts but give me a break his tests are all on detailed points of memorization from his slides or seem to be on something we didn't talk about in class. Seriously you can study the slides for hours and still mot get a good grade! Thankfully your lab grade will save you though. Overall not a good professor but there's no way you can avoid him in the IT curriculum so buckle up.
