Behpour is alright.. He likes going off on random tangents about the most random things. I expected a total jackass out of him at the beginning of the quarter due to the reviews, but he really wasn't that bad for EE 112. Despite how easy the material was, it never really stuck into my head due to the fact that the class was at 9am. (The 11am section would have been much better.) The quarter consisted of 6 quizzes and one final "quiz" - lowest score dropped. The final "quiz" ended up being 2-day takehome, with 2 questions assigned on one day and 1 question assigned on another. He's not too terrible, but there are better professors.. and 9am sucked.

Behpour doesn't deserve such an extremely low rating..but he wasn't the greatest teacher either. If you do your work and do the book reading you can make it through this class. His grading scheme for this class was 10% are quizzes, 20% first midterm, 30% second midterm, 40% final. Kind of impossible to judge your grade from that though, because on top of that there is a curve :-/.

I did not mind him at all. He posted all of his lecture notes on the web and he would try and help you in office hours. He does talk about things other than the material but I found that to be a welcomed relief. We were able to go farther in the book than the other classes even with him talking and being a minute or two late. He pretty much told you what was going to be on the test and I did actually learn something. Not too bad.

He's not the worst teacher ever, but I can't say that I liked the class. The lectures were boring. People started ditching after week two or so, but not me! I suffered through the lectures that made no sense because he assumed that we were all ee graduates. He taught the course at far to high a level for most people to understand. Luckily, I did the homework (most important), which is where I learned everything that I learned in the class, so I did well on midterm and final. COUNT YOUR POINTS! He graded 2 of the 5 graded things in the class wrong in my case (15 points off a midterm because he added wrong). Not a good teacher, but out of sympathy because of his low grade, I'll give him a C. Don't reccommend him, but don't avoid taking 129 or 229 because he's teaching. They're a prereqfor everything, and he's not THAT bad.

Kurosh Behpour is a "good person." He has a difficult time covering material clearly with his lectures, which results in sub-par average test grades from the class. To compensate for this, he usually gives a ~10% curve to his students, which will be enough for one to obtain a passing grade (given that you aren

Do not waste your time with this guy. I realize now that I am in EE 307 that I did not retain much of the information that he "presented". This guy is the definition of a "half-assed" prof. CPE 129 is not easy to learn unless you have as good prof. because the book is pretty bad. It's really hard to learn on your own from the book, and Behpour does not teach well. I would only take this guy if you have no other choice for a lab prof. He's really bad for lecture.

This guys knows nothing. Nothing about the lab, how to work the equipement, what your expected to do, nothing. Granted the lab book is a work in progress, but answering some simple questions about the lab wouldn't hurt, like how to use the equipement. He like cracking jokes, usually bad ones, and will put you down if you don't find him funny. You can find more help from a donkey. Use what you learned in other classes and do not rely on him to help. Grading is very easy so if you dun care about learning anything new go with him. Very poor teacher for 151, especially considering it is the introductory class to EE. Does not understand the labs, does not offer help, will walk away when he figures out he cannot help you. Likes to sit at his computer and check the scores of baseball games. The class is a joke, I did not learn anything. The final is on the most random problems ever (then again, the whole class is). I recieved an A- from the curve after a 82% grade in the class. My advice is if you're stuck with him be his friend and ask him every single question at the end of the lab sections, because eventually he will just read it to you out of his solution manual.

This class was easy. He had us take daily quizzes which were hard. They were based on the reading and asked us to identify specific words that were used in the text for parts of the board, or identify an abbreviation from the reading. That was hard. The thing was, he stopped doing quizzes after the fourth or fifth week of class, so it didn't matter. The labs were kind of difficult but the labs are the same every quarter so lots of us had old student's code already. If you weren't one of the lucky students who already had everything pretty much done for you, I heard that Behpour regularly gave out the code to finish your lab by the end of the lab period. Behpour is real laid back, almost annoyingly so. Overall, not a bad class and not a bad teacher. Not a great teacher, but not a bad teacher. Oh, and the fact that he will basically do the lab for you if you wait long enough is a plus too. You'd have to try to get a B to get a B in his lab period.

Wow, maybe Behpour sucks for 348, but I thought he was great in 201. No BS about proofs and derivations, etc. Just straightforward, easy to follow lectures, mostly all example problems and basic theory. VERY easy tests, as he mainly wants to see basic understanding rather than application to insane circuits. He is definately wierd but funny, with a knack for starting awkward conversation about the most random topics. No collected homework, easy tests, easy prof. Good lecturer though, I understood everything clearly and I suck at EE. My only qualm is that, because he goes through the material without derivation days, the class finished over a week early. Great. Until you start covering material that is not part of 201, but some 255 class no one takes. It's all easy, I just don't see the point to learning it. I'd still take him again. Maybe not as easy as Perks, but a great second choice and a pretty cool guy.

Behpour seems to be doing a lot of 201 sections so this might be relevant. I can see how he'd be pretty bad for an upper division prof but for EE201 that's taken by non-EE's, he presents the material in a no-nonsense fashion. He doesn't derive everything to death, so even though he's lazy and the course is very slow-paced, there was still time to spare for weird banter. I took 251 at the same time and all the other kids with different 201 profs were way behind and had difficulties with the lab. There's no room for error since the grade is based on 2 midterms and a final, so make sure you keep on top of things. The tests were very straightforward. Anyway, his laziness level is fine for EE201, so don't worry about it. You won't need him to have hand-holding study sessions for you.

Behpour was actually very well prepared for this class - lecture notes and homework solutions were posted on Blackboard, and even the homework questions for people with a different version of the book. Lectures and exams were straightforward. Homework was not collected, but definitely a good idea to prepare for the exams if you don't know what you're doing. Yes, he tries to make some jokes and conversation, to keep people awake mostly, which can get a bit.. odd... but overall, one of the better instructors I've had for a support course.

Behpour is going through a divorce this quarter...we hear about it all the time in class. He gave us the tests he gave to his class last quarter, so we all thought we would be fine for the test. I studied all the lecture notes and example problems, could do all the homework, and the practice test...and yet he made the test SO much harder. This last exam didn't at all test my knowledge of the subject, so I was pissed. When someone asked him in class why he made our test so much harder than the one from last quarter, he responded, "Sorry guys, I'm going through a divorce right now. I didn't mean to take it out on you." So, he proceeded to make the next test even harder. He curves the class, so I don't know what my grade will be yet. Also...he doesn't collect any homework. I think that's a bad thing, but some people like that.

I don't think that the comments on the previous paragraph are accurate. And, anyway, I don't think that he ever said that! But, maybe I missed class, but I don't think so. He is alright and the exams are easy. Which class are you taking ? And, you, have to crack open the book a few times you loser.

This class is basically really easy if you have just finished with physics 133. The first 3 weeks are review of that stuff and the next couple of weeks are just basic additions to the those concepts. Yea, the there are a couple of difficult concepts towards the end of the course, but it isn't overwhelming. The midterms are the only grades and if you are happy with what you have after the first two tests you don't have to take the final. His lectures are pretty dull and I dreaded them, but its EE, so what do you expect? his lectures on blackboard make it easy to catch up if you miss class too.

Entertaining guy, makes a lot of jokes and is easy to get along with. He doesn't collect homework, and the first few weeks are basically review from Physics 133, so the class starts out incredibly easy. His EE 211 class is really good to take. For starters, he does alternate methods to nodal analysis and thevenin/norton circuits, which make the analysis much easier. BIGGEST FUCKIN RETARD IN EE! I had Kurosh for 307/308. The the class average on midterms were fairly low. So the secret is to pay attention to what he says will be on the test. That's the only reason I go to lecture. And if you don't feel like wasting your time in lecture, go to his office hours and ask him. He'll tell you straight up what to study for the midterm, and what's not gonna be an the test. You need to read the book and teach the material to yourself if you want to pass. Those students who just go to lecture and do HW will gain no knowledge from his classes. And if you get stuck in the HW or reading he'll bust out the solutions and recite them to you. I think he is quite possibly the laziest man I have ever meet. I can only speculate that his attituted is that "he figured out the problems once in his life, why should he have to go back and do it again." Nevertheless, I got all A's from him and I didn't have to deal with Braun's MOHAT bullshit. Ya, I guess that makes me lazy too, but hiring managers don't ask "did you take Braun." I became friendly with him, and even came to like him personally, but his inability to convey the subject matter is VERY FRUSTRATING. I got a "C" because I was forced to learn from reading the book (which didn't work too well.) I heard of one student who enrolled in behpour's class, yet attended another teacher's class in order to actually learn (for 307 AND 308) P.S. Yep, if you don't like to read and do your own work and hope that there is some smart Middle Eastern Kid in the class you can copy off of then, yeah, you may have a problem. But, that's the whole point, if you're already an idiot & you don't want to deal w/ it, because mommy and daddy paid for your schooling, then your fucked. Yeah, so we finally get an EE lecturer with a personality and no one can take it... As if making small talk about sports and actually behaving like a pseudo-Human Being means you MUST not be smart enough or dweeby enough or anti-social enough to be a good EE professor. As if having average midterm scores higher than 22% means he doesn't teach anything. As if being chronically late to class is really a crime that should put students' panties in a bunch. Because really, we prefer it so much more when Braun stands there waiting for the clock's second hand to hit '0' so he can squeeze the maximum amount of geek garbled lecture into 50 minutes as possible... Gimme a break... If you are one of those EE students who is actually happy that your department prides itself on creating obsessive compulsive robots, then don't take him... Behpour edits his classes, and reduces the material quite a bit. He is one of the few profs who will actually admit when a particular subject is bullshit and useless in industry (and hey, he's actually worked in industry within the LAST DECADE, unlike many of the "big names" in the dept)... He knows devices well, he knows design well, and he's only mediocre at math-- which makes him a great professor, because he isn't a Human calculator and understands that you aren't either; he can identify your difficulties with ease, and his communication skills are awesome. Personally, I will take a prof with a personality and language skills over some crusty tenured PhD curmudgeon any day, regardless of how late he is to class.

Behpour is a really straightfoward professor. For the labs he told you right out what he wanted from each section in the lab book and would help you with any problem you encountered. He'll gladly have a conversation with you about engineering in the real world and anything else you wanna talk about. Pretty laid back but a no nonsense professor who doesn't care about the fluff in lab reports (lab reports were generally ~2-3 pages or so, covered only the important stuff ie no long procedure sections). Highly recommended for lab, no one in our class would've picked another prof for 368

As a lab instructor, he seems a bit un-enthusiastic. He is also somewhat lazy; he relied on the previous class that had the room to leave their drawings and explanations on the whiteboard, and he rarely walks around the room to check on people's progress. However, I will say that he gives you very clear guidelines for the lab write-ups and their format. My partner and I spent a large amount of time outside of class finishing write-ups, and he makes them due (for Tuesday labs) by Thursday of the same week, instead of a full week like some other EE lab profs. Also the prelabs are due in-lab, so you need to work on them over the weekend or on Monday nights. If you're willing to put in the time to be a formatting-whore, and to do the prelabs, and always be sure to get things in on-time (he has a drop-box for lab write-ups), you can end up with a good grade. He also gives 2 finals: a partner final (which is just the last lab in the manual) and an individual final (which is simpler but limited to 90 minutes). They were both straightforward. The most frustrating part was lab 6, I believe, where some senior-project software, which was supposed to make the power supplies and multimeters communicate with the computer, refused to work. And of course we were always way ahead of lecture in the material, so every lab was like a crash-course. Bottom line: It's a lab, just sign up for a convenient time slot; but if you have a better option than Behpour, take it.

Someone wrote earlier that if your lazy and you don't want to study the material than you shouldn't be an EE....well I think that person is a dumb fuck! We go to school to learn material we have not been taught before and it is the job of the instructor to teach you this material and to inspire and motivate you and challenge you to succeed in the the class. Behpour is a lazy bastard who knows nothing about what he's teaching in the EE 347 lab. If he feels like it, he might give you a brief intro of the lab using a previous instructors lab notes. Well the moral I learned from taking his lab class was: Quality isn't important as long as you have all the data that the lab manual asked for regardless whether they are right or wrong. I've always spent those extra few hours trying to get my data right so I've turned in one lab late which he deducted 30% off from it. When the final grade comes down I am 0.2% away from an A- (he gave me B+) so I went to talk to him about it. Although he offered to review that lab report I turned in late but he made it sounded like I am really a bother to him and yeah that extra boost from B+ to A- isn't a big deal blah blah so why are you bothering me - althogh he knew I have the most well written lab reports all quarter. Straight up grading scale and "effort" does not count in how he ripe out those grades. As for the labs he does help you get started but don't expect any help after that. Lab reports and pre-labs were graded harshly (the graders problem not his) and most of the students from his lab class went to a different professor for help (Corcoran). Overall if he isn't teaching he is a cool guy, but maybe not so cool when he's in a classroom and teaching

This teacher is one of the laziest teachers you can possibly have! Do not expect this instructor to help you or answer any of your questions during the lab because he doesn't know the answer and because he would rather be on his cell phone or on his computer than helping you. Behpour is honestly the worst instructor i have had since i began at Cal Poly. I recommend that you do not take this instructor because he does not perform his job, which is to teach and help his students. Honestly, if I had the authority i would get this man fired! We pay so much money to go to school and learn to have this jackass attempting to teach our students is pathetic! Boo on Cal Poly for hiring this man, you get the thumbs down! Boo Boo Boo Boo!

Okay let me break it down for you all, I'm sure most everyone who complained is a stereotypical engineer. . . .revenge of the nerds?? Lets just say Behpour isn't a stereotypical EE prof, ohh crap he made a mistake and has a personality. Behpour is a nice guy and yeah he does know his stuff, its not his job to bail you out, he lets you struggle until you figure it out yourelf. . . nothing wrong with that, thats how you learn. Bottom line he does his job as a Lab prof, doesnt grade too hard, what more do you geeks want? He can't do your labs for you.

Ohhh please. . . cry me a river. . . .Grow up kid, you likely got the grade you deserved. If you got a D in his class maybe you should reconsider your major. . .. its not prof's jobs to baby you. I have had Behpour for a few different classes, he does his job just fine. . . He's not the greatest prof, but hes not the worst. Just as you're obviously not the greatest student. . . if we should get rid of him, we should get rid of you too and let someone else in who wont cry. . .

Behpour is a very organized professor, and the lab assignments were all clear. The class is well presented. Definitely a great professor for this lab.

After taking 349 I can see why they put Kurt in charge of teaching it. It's the only EE class I've taken where the teacher is encouraged not to offer any technical help or guidance along the way. He showed up late to every lab including the first day and none of his comments were ever helpful to our group. You might enjoy him if you like basketball because that is about all he talks about. Try to understand the labs because the lab has potential to teach you a lot. He

This professor does not know much (anything?) about the subject matter so do not expect an explination as to why something does/does not work. He makes up for his lack of knowledge by being very generous with his grading. It was the first class I have ever taken that the teacher instead of another student was the one distracting me during class--he loves to talk sports. He is a nice person, however, and helps when and if he can.

Behpour did a great job getting this material across. He knows his stuff. Is the guy a genius? A fairly hard class all in all, but I learn a lot.

Behpour is a legend. He knows his material and is just an awesome dude in general. He is always walking around looking to help and is also up for random conversations as long as you get your work done. Very fair grader and clear about what he wants and expects. Even if you have to take him at 6PM on Thursdays like I did I'd say its worth it, and I hate being on campus late.

SO BITTER. It's pretty obvious all the one liner comments are coming from the same person. I got a good grade from Behpour. You just gotta put in the effort. I would continue in the major.. but the school is way too white trash.
